  1. With all due respect, we were coming off 4 straight Super Bowl appearances and it is not unusual for a fan base to get complacent when they have had an unbelievable amount of success. That said, what does JAX have to be complacent about? Also, that game drew 65k plus, a respectable crowd but there was huge blocks of empty seats because our capacity was still 80k then. A final interesting tidbit from that game was JAX backup QB was none other that Rob Johnson and I had the "privilege" of sitting next to his father who was one of the most obnoxious people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He spent most of the game dumping on Buffalo and yelling what crappy fans we had because of the empty seats. A tad ironic for several reasons, no? All in all, a pretty funny memory. Years later, when Rob was here, I saw his father again walking the halls of the stadium and he clearly recognized me and remembered his comments about Buffalo. He looked like he had swallowed a handful of sh--.
  2. Agree w/ Mark VI. Also, a very quick read. Most I know got through it in one or two sittings as chapters are concise and the humor makes you want to go on. Great choice.
  3. 2 more: "As my father said, you can't have everything in this world. Where would you put it?" "Women, can't live with them, can't shoot them."
  4. less than an inch here by the airport. So far, the snow has stayed well south of the city.

  6. McDonald's bought up the remaining 4k+ tix and the game will be shown locally.

  8. Never seen it before. Obviously a great call. The NFL is a copycat league and you will see other teams try it. At the very least, it will force defenses to keep LB's or DB's on the edges and out of the box so the sneaks have a better chance of success. Very innovative call.
  9. not a vet. Just want to say THANK YOU to all who served from a proud american!
  10. well said, there is a tremendous difference between the dems definition of wealthy and mine. Also, your point on NC taxes is dead on. Prior to Pataki's ill advised tax increase in '03, NC taxes were higher than NY, now they are about the same. NY's property taxes are still much higher, of course. But the point is, Bush put money in all of our pockets, whether they want to admit it or not. As for the thread topic, that is a pathetic result if the stats are accurate. No vote, no right to complain IMO.
  11. "Is that a roll of Starburst in my pocket, or am I just happy to see you?"
  12. Nick, you had some tough acts to follow, but that was really, really good. Nice job.
  13. link From "The Czar's" column: The Buffalo Bills made a coaching change to Mike Mularkey, believing the former Pittsburgh offensive coordinator would generate some offense. Well, Drew Bledsoe continues to struggle, losing his ninth road game in his last 11 starts. Mularkey was bold on fourth-and-goal early in the fourth quarter, but he should have kicked the field goal. If J.P.Losman was healthy, I bet Mularkey would be starting him in two weeks against New England.
  14. everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I think Schobel is much better than average. He has shown tremendous ability to learn new techniques and has improved in all mental aspects of his position. As a rookie, he had one move, the speed burst around the left tackle. We all saw that he was raw. Obviously, he has paid attention to the vets and coaches and has developed a well rounded game. I saw some things in his limited action in preseason that make me hopeful he will continue to improve still, especially in reading plays and defending the run. IMO, an excellent signing.
