The Savage Nuns Blood for Master Dead Henry

The market is not supposed to guarantee low wage earners a safe and equitable income. People need to develop some kind of skill - more specifically a marketable skill. If they don't, then they do not deserve better pay. Only when an employee becomes more valuable to the employer do they warrant an increase in pay. The market has nothing to do with that. And I don't see how you can make a connection between speed limits, which is a public safety issue, and an imposed minimum wage, which is not. These are two entirely different things.

Abuse paradise - I like that. You might appreciate this, if you've never seen it. The whole thing is great, but the first minute & fifteen seconds is most relevant:

He was also in a really good episode of the original Twilight Zone that starred Burgess Meredith - Mr. Dingle the Strong: http://youtu.be/8qEnixBViKE Classic

Contrary to his stage persona he was purported to be a very kind and caring man. He's been one of my all-time favorites for many, many years - he'll be missed terribly. Rest in peace.

It certainly doesn't fly with Meathead. Take it from me.

I'm beginning to think that they'll address this in the first episode of season 8. It'll probably be something like both Hilltop and Kingdom meet up on the road and hang back long enough that when the first round of gunfire begins, all the saviors are distracted, then both groups move along the fence and cut their way in using the cover of gunfire to mask their cutting/hacking/tearing through the wall. That's the only possible thing I can think of - that or something similar, anyway. It will be disappointing if they don't explain how they all got into position - that's an awful lot of loose ends to leave hanging.

Only if you're projecting, Tarhole.

You're absolutely entitled to run your business as you see fit, and to pay your employees whatever you wish. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. We were discussing wages and compensation in the context of a national minimum wage of $15 per hour, which many people see as a completely arbitrary and artificially high wage for what is mostly unskilled labor. My disagreement with you was with regard to the imposition of such an inflated wage on a national level. But again, your business is yours to run, and I believe what you pay your employees is strictly up to you, and should not be subject to further regulatory control.

I haven't even see the last one. The first couple turned me off completely. Nothing against Pine, Quinto, Pegg, and company, but I seriously can't think anyone else can sell those characters - Shatner, Kelley, Nimoy, and Doohan are as responsible for creating those characters as Roddenberry was. In addition, the new look of everything just made it seem like anything other than Star Trek. What's next, a new TNG series with Steve Carell as Picard? Supposedly, after Star Trek Enterprise ended, Shatner and Jonathan Frakes pitched their own idea for a new series, and offered to produce it, but Paramount nixed it. I agree with you - the television format is better for telling real Trek stories. They were probably confused by their own manelessness - they see these other male lions strutting around with a full, mascufeline, Fabio-like head of hair, began to question their gender identification, and lashed out in unrepressed frustration. They were probably never encouraged to purr as cubs, either. Seriously though, one of the employees at the museum said that one theory as to why the lions actively sought human flesh was because the locals buried their dead in extremely shallow graves, and they suspect they may have developed a taste for people in the process. But the lady shrugged as she told me that, so who knows?

Really? Do you mind passing along a message or two for me? -

You know who else said that Tom thinks of himself as Martin Morgan when he's really Aryeh Nusbacher? -
That's understandable. Besides, it's not like we haven't had pages of absolutely retarded debate going on around here in the meantime.

Oh, your logic was perfectly sound. I just enjoyed your example, mainly because I could picture it perfectly. If you ever get a chance to go to the Field Museum, you'll see what I mean about their size (you should go anyway if you get the chance - the Egyptology/mummies department alone is worth the visit). They're about the size of a typical mountain lion, not like your normal African lion would be. That's why I asked - they look freakishly small to be the bloodthirsty monsters from the movie, but apparently they received gunfire similar to what Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway received at the end of Bonnie and Clyde. There just wasn't a whole lot of lion left when the smoke cleared. Another interesting thing about them is that despite that they were both males, neither had the mane that a male lion normally has. Apparently not all male lions have manes. Yep - I have high hopes for this series, especially after the reboot movies.

CNN and the three broadcast networks are doing everything they can to marginalize themselves, just like congressional Democrats are. They have to realize that a massive number of viewers didn't buy their schtick before the election, and less are doing so now. It's like watching someone committing suicide by repeatedly stabbing themselves with a safety pin while screaming through a megaphone - and everyone else is just watching in amazement. -
I think that everyone should be paid what they're worth - nothing more, nothing less. Management, especially upper-level management, is answerable for the performance of entire teams or departments, as well as how efficiently they interface with the rest of the company. They do not have the luxury of a 40 hour work week - they're usually working, in one fashion or another, for 24 hours a day, every day. Their success is tied directly to the company's success, as well as to stockholders (if there are any). It takes skill that many people do not have to shoulder that kind of responsibility in a successful manner. That will naturally pay much better than what rank and file earn. And by the way - I'm not actually advocating for employees to earn less money if the company takes a loss, I was playing devil's advocate with regard to paying hourly employees above and beyond if the company experiences a windfall. In my opinion, a good employer will often reward extra-efforts that yield a bonus for the company. Thus, the concept of profit-sharing.

Who could possibly argue with that? As an aside, I've seen the Tsavo lions - or rather what's left of them - at the Field Museum in Chicago. They were shot so full of holes that when it came time to mount them, they wound up significantly smaller than they were in real life.

At this point, their use of the term "liberal" as a descriptor of their philosophy is a serious misnomer. Politically, they're more socialist than anything, and culturally they've become more fascist than the most rabid members of the "religious right" ever were. They threaten violence when people with an opposing point of view try to speak, they shout down anyone they disagree with, they've begun creating fake hate-crimes to perpetuate a false narrative of victimhood, and they riot in the streets and try to pass it off as legitimate protest. There's nothing "liberal" about them.
