Gender(sex)... Race/Age/income/Height/Weight/Whatever
Azalin replied to Prospector's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
If you're looking for actual legal responses, you should probably ask a civil rights attorney, or at least study a few sources, such as: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massachusetts-law-about-gender-identity-or-expression https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/lgbtq-rights/ https://blogs.loc.gov/law/2015/06/law-of-gender-identity-and-sexual-orientation-a-beginners-guide/ Those are just the first three links that came up. Earlier in the thread, B-Man suggested you look here at the lengthy, ongoing conversation: Check out the The Mizzou/Yale/PC/Free Speech Topic thread -

Happy birthday! Sorry you're having trouble with your twanger. -
You're assuming they lived in Erie County? I'm very sorry to hear the news, T. My sincere condolences.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Azalin replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I do not disagree with that. You had said that like the west, that China had been inadequate in their response to the virus. China was deliberately deceitful, both with their own people and with the rest of the world. A lot of people have died because of China that likely wouldn't have. I completely agree that this is a scary and dangerous position to be in, and I would agree that this is great illustration of the need for some kind of plan to deal with pandemics, at least domestically. That said, no plan will ever work if nations behave the way China has. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Azalin replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
China didn't just have an inadequate response, they lied to the rest of the world about the scope and severity of the virus and sold ineffective/defective PPE to other countries trying to deal with it. -
The previous two pages kinda foreshadowed his responses, don't you think?

In that case, you know who to take this up with now.

Do you bicker with them like a 9 year old too?

I though he was being patient. Most MDs would have told you to shove off long ago. Well, we certainly learned more than he did.
-
Seriously? He used the rhetorical number "nine million" and you're trying to sound reasonable in asking him simply to name the first million? You're an ass and a troll.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

Because he's trolling you guys. -

Absolutely no one wants to see me in one of those. Trust me.

Get used to it. An apparent effect of sheltering in place is a spike in troll activity on boards like this one, as if we don't have enough of that already. I just wish people would realize that replying to them brings them down to the same level of intellect. (not referring to your post, btw) -

Stay safe and enjoy the view - it sounds like you've got a ringside seat for Darwin in action. -
Global warming err Climate change HOAX
Azalin replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I tend to think that most people are able to plant flowers and trees on their own, but if you think that it takes a village, then have at it. -
Global warming err Climate change HOAX
Azalin replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Planting trees, growing gardens on balconies and patios - that's always good. Even if we don't know the extent of their effect, we know that plants thrive on CO2 and produce oxygen. We don't have to be greenies or environmentalists to appreciate the value in that. -

I'm enjoying the back & forth between RKA and DR. It's nice to see a little genuine discussion for a change, especially in this particular thread. -
But it never would have amounted to anything without the participation of all my fellow pundits & ideologues!

You're going to try to impress upon me the necessity of wearing a mask? Another noteworthy "mass recommendation" is social distancing, ie staying at least six feet away from others. We already know that he's a germophobe. The last few press conferences I saw had a vastly depleted press presence in the room - he even joked about it. Look, you're entitled to your opinion, but from here it looks to me like you're making a big deal out of very little. -

You're answering for Transplant? Okay then, let's assume that "mass recommendations" is meant, as you say, to mean "the recommendation for the masses to wear masks in public like the cdc says". It seems pretty clear to me that Trump is speaking strictly for himself, not recommending that others follow suit. Is that questionable reasoning? Sure, I think so. Is he in any way gainsaying the medical professionals or questioning their advice? No, he isn't. I think you guys are making an issue where one really doesn't exist. -

For those of us following along, what exactly do you mean by "mass recommendations"? -
But does this actually surprise anyone?

I've always believed that if American manufacturers want us to buy American, they need to make those products to be at least comparable in both affordability and quality. Under current circumstances I am willing to pay more, both as a big FU to China as well as to lend support to American workers who will need the work.
