It's not so much a debate that it may or may not be happening, but rather a debate on why it's happening, if indeed it is. The earth has been around for a very long time, and has undergone many climate changes before warm blooded creatures ever evolved. Given that the satellite technology and weather/atmosphere data is still a new science, coupled with the fact that much of the climate change/global warming 'data' is based on computer models, there's more than a little conjecture involved in any proclamations of human involvement causing any rise in temperature. It's one thing to be prudent with respect to what we put into the air, water, and ground, and something else again to start putting taxes and heavy-handed regulations on industry based on what we might be doing.
