The only reason it sounds naive or ignorant is because you're mischaracterizing my point, and you're doing so on purpose. Where did I ever presume that we have "perfect information on who will go postal"? What I'm telling you is that we used to lock crazy people up and/or get them help before they could do harm to others. Not all were identified before they could cause harm, but many were. You ignore that because it doesn't fit your agenda. Instead you use tragedies such as this one to blame firearms and racism, and completely ignore the fact that all this might have been prevented had somebody seen the sickness festering inside this kid's mind. Instead, he never got treatment, and nine people paid with their lives.

All violent psychopaths should be incarcerated and medicated? Yep, that's pretty much it. So your solution is to allow violent psychopaths to mingle throughout society and just take away everyone's guns so that nobody gets shot? We already have a Gatorman. We don't need another.

He didn't kill those people because they were black. He killed them because he is a lunatic. He hated because he is a racist. He killed because he's a psychopath. The world is full of racists, but they don't take up arms and begin slaying people over it. Everyone here knows at least somebody who's a racist, but do any of us believe that person to be capable to walking into a church, a school, a theater, or anywhere else and just start shooting the place up, killing as many people as possible? With your logic, the American south - and much of the north - would have been a constant bloodbath from 1865 to present. Explore that.

But is it surprising?

You're a fool. This has nothing to do with terrorism or rednecks. It has everything to do with insanity and evil. Treat it as such, for God's sake. There's nothing political about this. The guy is batsh%t crazy, and should have been locked up and medicated before this ever happened. Columbine, Sandy Hook, Virginia State, Aurora - those were all mentally disturbed, sick people that needed help. But can we lock them up and medicate them? No, that is a violation of their constitutional freedom. Let them roam about, mingling with the general public, and when they go off the deep end and start blowing innocent people away, then go ahead and blame guns because it fits your pathetic, unimaginative mantra. Before you start assigning a lack of intellect to 'rednecks', I'd suggest you start showing that you're actually smarter than one.

I don't know - Greece is part of the eurozone, where Britain never converted to the euro, sticking with the pound instead. I would imagine that it would help strengthen the euro if Greece went back to the drachma, but I can't pretend to be that savvy with regard to international economics. Britain's attitude is somewhat aloof with regard to its membership in the European Union compared with other member nations, so I could see them bailing for more reasons than just economic ones. Ive been traveling to Europe regularly since 2010, and when I began, one euro was worth about $1.60. Now 1 euro = .94cents, so it's weakened considerably compared with the dollar, which is saying something when you consider how badly our own 'stewards of the economy' are performing.

bullcrap - he was enabled by the ACLU and their successful campaign to release mentally disturbed people back into society. How many more lunatics are going to slaughter innocent people before the left wakes up and starts treating psychopaths like the dangerous people they really are?

Coast to coast, with your host, DC Tom. It would be great to hear someone calling his guests 'idiot' with every other breath.

It's more to do with the quality and ubiquitous nature of the home made flour tortillas.

The dangers of our new normal...

I'm not so sure about that. Zappa didn't do drugs. He didn't even drink alcohol. He used to fire band members for doing drugs. Plus, I can't even imagine how many drugs someone would have to take in order for Tom Petty to sound good. -

Something not mentioned in your link was the Pope's contention that AGW and abortion are interrelated: "Since everything is interrelated, concern for the protection of nature is also incompatible with the justification of abortion," http://www.nationaljournal.com/energy/pope-francis-climate-change-and-abortion-are-interrelated-20150618 That ought to take the wind out of a few liberal sails. -

I've been a fan of Zappa's work since I was in 9th grade (200 Motels was my introduction), and was lucky enough to see him live 3 times. That said, despite my deep admiration for the man and his music, I can't for the life of me imagine what the country would have been like under President Zappa. -
It's nice - I lived there for 8 years before moving, but I like Austin a lot more than I did San Antonio.

I don't have much faith in the feds when it comes to removing someone due to incompetence (what difference, at this point, does it make?). You may be a little too young to remember this, but CSPAN aired the PMRC hearings on lyrical content in popular music, which pitted James Baker's wife, Al & Tipper Gore among others against the likes of Dee Snyder, John Denver, and Frank Zappa. It was beyond entertaining. -

Blame the hack on the NSA, and that once you heard about it, you immediately emailed Lois Lerner to let her know.

I can appreciate how difficult and time consuming something like that might be. I was laughing at the way she was replying to Chaffetz - her canned response sounded as if she was giving a bad 6th grade oral report on the subject.
