  1. Is 'a 360 degree difference' some kind of term or colloquialism I've never heard before, or is the Turkish PM in need of brushing up on his metaphors?
  2. In a hearbeat. As frequently as possible.
  3. The same people who also say 'dungarees'.
  4. That's all well and good for you, but I live alone.
  5. Oh, come on you guys. It's not like New York state has any serious issues to address. Besides, with the tax burden being as low as it is in NY, there's no shame in diverting surplus dollars to fund activities like this.
  6. What the hell are we supposed to do when internet access is lost, or there's a power failure?
  7. How can adopting background checks for firearms purchases be considered to be stricter gun control when we already have mandatory background checks for firearm purchasers?
  8. And Obamacare.
  9. Sort of like 'if you like your plan, you can keep your plan', right?
  10. Bingo.
  11. Why did the pharmacy give me my pain medication to treat my broken hand in a bottle with a child-proof cap?
  12. .Okay, how about this one: given that we have the words 'vulnerable' and 'invulnerable', why can we not say that a country that was successfully invaded had been 'vulnered'?
  13. If the past tense of 'teach' is 'taught', then why is the past tense for 'preach' not 'praught'?
  14. I think it's just another example of someone looking for things to be angry about. A professional (or at least an amateur) malcontent.
  15. There's any number of reasons to be proud of being an American - no other society in history has achieved the standard of living that we have. Even our poor live at a level far above what's considered to be poverty level in other countries. We're generous with aid around the globe, we're nearly always the first ones offering help and resources to literally any country that suffers natural disasters. There are so many reasons to be proud of our nation that it would be impossible to enumerate everything. We have indeed made mistakes, but nothing so terrible or insidious that we as a nation deserve condemnation as a whole. Americans that feel shame for being an American need to pull back and reconsider their perspective. We all have a lot to be thankful for, and we as a nation deserve the credit for giving us so much for which we can give thanks.
  16. Who said that?
  17. "The logical conclusion is that nearly everyone involved in the effort was so white that no one even noticed." This is what someone concerned with racial sensitivity says? How can they say something like that and not literally choke on the irony?
  18. With all due respect, that's bullcrap. If the federal government is going to take a regulatory role via enforced standards and inspections, then once they sign off saying that the company in question meets federal compliance, then they bear just as much responsibility for the fallout should anything happen. They should be held accountable the same as anyone else.
  19. I imagine that there's been a lot of changes to the story for the TV version from the way it is in the books.
  20. The same reason the feds aren't held accountable along with BP for the massive oil spill in the gulf. Federal inspectors supposedly signed off on the drilling operation, but when it went bad it was all BP's fault.
  21. You're probably right, but when has a lack of understanding ever kept him silent before?
  22. Yeah, and we could call them 'Teamsters'.
  23. I laughed out loud at Eichhorst's reaction to finding out that Palmer had blocked his access to the gold. I just knew that Palmer's pissing off the Master would get Coco killed - I just thought it would take longer than it did to happen. I was completely shocked at Nora's death (no pun intended) because although I never read any of the books, I have read the synopses of all three, and unless I misunderstood, she was one of the few to survive.
  24. Try not to spend it all at once.
  25. Is Santora's still around? It may just be a symptom of having fond memories of WNY, but I always thought Santora's had great pizza.
