  1. You're right, its not often that the interim coach gets the job, but the real point is the fact that he wasnt even given any consideration for the job!
  2. This is what concerns me is how JP will be handled. Will he be given every opportunity to suceed/earn the job? Will there be any sort of committment to him? We need to find out if he is the QB of the future, and I hope the new regime, particularly the new coaching staff, will make every effort to find out, but I have my doubts.
  3. Thanks. Agreed, being DC in Buffalo would be an upgrade over his current duties, but based on the title, and not the actual job description, the Bills would need to get permission, and knowing how Snyder is regarding retaining assistants, I would imagine he would either refuse, or seek some form of compensation.
  4. Isnt Greg Blache the DC at DC? Yeah I know Greggo calls the defensive shots, but his title is asst HC while Blache has the DC title, so I'm not sure the Bills could hire him for the same position.
  5. Well if Ralph and Marv are making the decision....
  6. My reaction in '86 was - "I dont care if this bum takes us to 4 straight super bowls, we'll probably lose them all anyway!".
  7. If he gets fired, will we see "Dick gets the shaft!"?
  8. Sure, then we'll find out that Bates wanted too much control over defensive play calling and Joe Blow was hired instead.
  9. Probably the same as the ones foretelling of glory days under Jauron.
  10. Well, if it does indeed turn out to be DJ, I seriously hope that one of the Buffalo media has the cojones to ask Ralph and Marv why they chose DJ over Sherman, especially given Sherman's successful track record vs Jauron's. Oh how I'd love to hear the response to that one.
  11. Yeah, Crowton employed a multiple receiver set offense in college. I think similar to the run and shoot. It only took a few games for defenses to catch up to it.
  12. Also had Gary Crowton as his first OC. Dont have the offensive stats on hand, but he was previuosly HC of Utah (I think) and had short lived success bringing his style into the pros. Was eventually ditched for Shoop, no improvement there.
  13. Just remember, a lot of the same "idiots" complained about the Williams and Mularkey hirings. Did those turn out okay?
  14. True, its no guarantee he is the QB of the future, but even though he was the pick of the old regime, the new regime will not give up on him this year without seeing if they can improve the "support system" around him (coaching and personnel). Too much was invested in him only two years ago, so its not at of the question at all to label him as the QB of the future. After next season, if he fails to improve, then its a different story.
  15. Its hard to get excited about this hire when, despite the defense's poor showing this past season, the true weakness of the team was the offense. And with a young QB of the future needing lots of coaching, it just made sense to hire Sherman (who also had a MUCH better record). We just have to wait and see who DJ brings in to run the offense, hopefully he doesnt screw up a third time (Crowton and Shoop were disasters).
  16. "...and Saints offensive coordinator Mike Sheppard are the early front-runners for the Jets' offensive coordinator job."
  17. Jets and Saints interviewed Donnie Henderson, and the Vikes interviewed Cottrell.
  18. Your friend Mularkey having regrets? Sorry, couldnt resist.
  19. Among the least penalized teams in 3 of his seasons. Now thats discipline!
  20. Said something like (and I'm paraphrasing) "I want to be a good teammate, but lets just say we had protecetion problems". It was obvious he was trying to hold back from blasting his oline, but it was enough of a comment to make it obvious he was pointing the finger at them.
  21. But he was looking for the ball. I think thats the difference.
  22. Was a bad call...............but, what goes around comes around!
