Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread

I hope it plays out that way. Jump ahead early, and force Lamar to pass. If it does, we win big. -
Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread

I watched some of the Ravens last game. A few times Lamar would fake a handoff to Henry. The defense came crashing down to stop Henry but Lamar would keep it go untouched for 10yds. It's a dangerous dual threat that the Titans didn't have. It's going to be a game of deception. Our defense will need to be sharp defending this running attack. -
Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread

Three tough road games back to back, all AFC teams. Important games as far as seeding goes. The Ravens are going to try to run on us and they have a dual threat there with Lamar able to keep it himself and run. Thing is, we have a QB that can do that too and who also is playing like the best player in the league. The Ravens defense is very exploitable while ours has miraculously managed to keep opposing offenses in check. I think the only path for the Ravens to win is to have a dominating run game that eats clock and keeps our offense off the field. Even then, it's going to be hard to hold back an offense that is running on all cylinders with Josh playing the way he is. If the Bills jump out to an early lead, forget about it. -
How are we feeling about the next 3 weeks?

The way to beat Henry is to stop him before he gets a head of steam. However, Baltimore is doing a great job of making teams pay for selling out to stop him. Fake handoff and Jackson is quickly 10yds downfield. It's going to be tough and we are really going to wish we had Milano for this matchup. Still, our offense just seems far more dangerous. I think our D does just enough to slow them down and our offense just continues to roll. -
Winning in the trenches is going to lead to a lot of great ball games. It makes everyone else's job so much easier.

All of these teams have good defenses. Physical teams. I feel like the Bills can beat any of them, though. The only thing that scares me is injuries. Especially with the Ravens getting Henry going again. That is a one man wrecking crew. Overall though, I think the Bills are playing chess while other teams are still playing checkers from coaching stand point and on both sides of the ball. Ravens are physical on both side of the ball but I don't think they can keep up scoring points. Houston feels like a team that is on the verge of breaking out. Stroud is a really good QB who just hasn't put it together yet as an NFL QB. They also have a legit defense. The Jets have a real dangerous defense that is so good that Rogers really only has to be a game manager. Their offensive line is suspect though. I see this team as Buffalo's biggest threat. That defense is overly aggressive though and I think the Bills can exploit that. -

That's a relief. They're going to be under water a lot in this game. -

There should be some shots. 20-30 yarders. That secondary really is weak. Maybe some longer than that too. One of their safeties is out. -

The only reason Miami was successful running the ball is because the Bills didn't put a lot of guys in the box. They stayed with a 2 high shell and kept the play in front of them. And Miami did not have a lot of success up the middle. The big runs were bounces to the outside and they were sending WRs downfield to draw coverage outside. It worked, but the big play was held in check. I think the Bills will continue to play this way, force the Jags to run, dink and dunk, longer drives and make mistakes. As the game goes on, the Bills offense should just pull ahead because they'll be able to mix things up and force their defense to defend the whole field better than the Jags can. Josh is definitely going to take some deep shots in this game because this team is weak giving up big pass plays. They are still going to run a lot but this Jags defense often leaves an opening for a QB to take off and run. Look for Allen to get some yards on the ground in this one. That defense is kind of hinky. The way they play a lot of man coverage and depend on their pass rush to get home is not a recipe for success. The pass percentage will increase in this game because of the way this defense plays. I think there's a good chance that the pass can open things up in the run game. If that happens, the Jags are toast. It's about 50% of the time and that's like 1st or 2nd in the league. -

Both teams have good defensive lines that can get after the QB. Only one team however, has a good offensive line. How do you win ball games? It all starts in the trenches. -
A lot of games didn't go the way I thought this week. Hope the trend continues. Now lets go Falcons!

Matt Stafford happened.

Hahaha. Missed FG

One thing I am seeing is a larger percentage of pre-snap motions. What this does is, it gives Allen an opportunity to watch how the defense responds to that motion and identify what type of coverage they are in. The Saints are also doing this and there have been some early returns for both teams. These teams are being very deliberate in how they are attacking a defense. I think Josh is becoming a real headache for opposing defenses and not just because of his physical gifts. He's now winning by outwitting defenses by taking advantage of their weaknesses. Every type of coverage has a weakness and Josh is capitalizing on that. I'll go a step further, Josh isn't the only one identifying coverages. RBs, WRs and TEs are too. Players are finding soft spots in zone and identifying when they have opportunities going against man. The Bills have been extremely efficient and I think this is a big reason why. The offense is a well oiled machine right now. Let's hope it continues.

Our Dline is going to be a problem for this team. -
Jax is playing man coverage 50% of the time. This could be the game we see our WRs getting more involved. I have no doubt Jax is going to throw everything they've got at Buffalo. Josh is going to be pressured, but teams that are this desperate for a win, make mistakes. I think on defense Josh will have opportunities to exploit an over aggressive pass rush. I also think that our own pass rush and back end is going to be a real problem for them. They are going to need the run to open up passing opportunities. Will they do it though? Jacksonville seems to be much better than their record would indicate. 0-7 over their last 7 games, though?.... The difference is Buffalo has shown that they can be a balanced offense and win, and Jax has not. Also, our fans are going to be merciless on this team. I think they are going to continue to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and inconsistent play. To me it looks like all the pieces are coming together for a blow out win.

I'm thinking a quick 15-25yd pass play will immediately soften them up to the run.
