That's what I'm thinking too. The defense looked like they were turning things around last week. Today will be a good test. They don't have to get 7 sacks, but a couple of good stops that give the offense another opportunity would be huge. -

I don't really get all of the negativity. I think the Bills and Mafia are going to be rockin'. I think the Chiefs with their normally staunch run defense is not prepared for what is about to happen. Cook, the Oline and the TEs are going to put on a show. Allen is going to do enough to get the job done too. He's been off. That changes today. You don't keep an MVP down for long. And the defense is getting the LBs back. The young blood on the DLine and the secondary is going to show out too. I think they get enough stops to give our offense that extra opportunity to put points on the board. The Chiefs may have come on strong the last couple of games, but this is where they run out of steam, in Orchard Park against the team they struggle the most against. Let's do this. -
The Bills are #4 in points/game, #3 in yards/game. If the passing game simply improved by a couple of catches per game, there's no reason to think they can't achieve #1 by season's end. They aren't that far off and I think you might be undervaluing the strength of the run game. Players like Gilliam and Hawes are knocking it out of the park blocking for the run. We've had Gilliam for a long time and up until late last year he wasn't used much because the Bills put more WRs on the field. Schematically, these 12 and 13 personnel groupings are very dangerous because not only do the Bills have a high degree of success running the ball, they also have a high degree of success passing. I get the desire for a top WR, but the production in passing needs to come from non-WRs. TEs and RBs out of this grouping need to step up. A little play action would help too. It just blows my mind that these things aren't leaned into. Still, the offense isn't far off from being the best in the league. Brady could learn from some of the Patriots offenses with Tom Brady. I'd like to see other TEs besides Kincaid catching passes. I like the scheme as far as the versatility of being able to run and pass out of these formations. It does leave you fewer WRs but not fewer receivers. Having good blocking TEs is great but I don't think the TEs are being utilized enough as pass catchers. It also forces defenses to defend both run and pass and makes it impossible to know presnap what the play will be. It wouldn't hurt to see Cook catch a pass once in a while either. Whens the last time that has happened?

Gilliam and Hawes. KC is good at stopping the run, but Buffalo now has, not only a monster OL, but TEs and FBs that can block too. That's an advantage. More guys that can put a hat on a hat. It also is an advantage because the Bills can pass out of the 12 and 13 personnel. TEs are going to be active. Cook will be active. Shakir will be active. Going to be a lot of crossing routes and a lot of rushing. Anyone who thinks the Bills aren't going to lean on the running game is mistaken. The only time Buffalo has not been successful running the ball, is when Cook is not on the field going into last year. KC can try to stop the run, but they won't. They will still have to keep people in coverage and won't be able to sell out to stop the run as many think. Buffalo is dangerous throwing to the TEs in these formations too. Wouldn't be surprised if Cook catches a couple too.

Are McBeane secretly creating an elite offense?
Rockinon replied to BullBuchanan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills are #3 in yds/game and #4 in pts/game so far. That looks pretty elite to me. Some more consistency from the pass game and the Bills could very well be #1 by the end of the season. I think it's important to look at these stats because it really shows how much the pass game needs to improve, which really isn't that much. One or two more completed passes per game could very well make this offense number one. This could just be a matter of cleaning up some mistakes. My biggest issue with this team doesn't have anything to do with offense, though. I think the biggest weaknesses are on the defensive side of the ball so far. My hope is that the defense begins to turn the corner. Last week we saw some good signs. Let's hope the trend continues this weekend. -

You have a point. Everyone is focusing on MVP Josh but the Bills run game has been carrying this team for some time now. Even last year. It's almost like no one has even noticed. -

I honestly think it won't matter. Detroit doesn't have a comparable Oline complimented by great TE and FB blocking. Not to take away from the Chiefs, but there is only so much they can do when the entirety of the OLine is blocking so well and the RB is this good. -

I do. The only time the run game has stalled all season is when Cook wasn't on the field. And the way the OLine is blocking is just plain dominating. The Chiefs are going to have their hands full. And not just OLinemen. It's fullback and TE. The days of weak TE blocking are over and Gilliam is on fire. The Bills run game is legitimately top 2 in the NFL. Maybe the Colts are comparable and even that's debatable. It looks like Brady found something with the way Cook is being utilized that is working too. Cook is lining up way behind Allen, giving him a good view of everyone in front of him. Those pitches from Allen to Cook are giving Cook the chance to be full speed by the time he hits the LOS. And the defense trying to stop him is just lost because they want to rally to the ball but by the time they realize what's happening Cook is all ready by them. I think there has been a bit of issue trying to work the pass more into the game. Josh is not a dink and dunk QB, but that is normally what an offense does to compliment a great run game. I honestly think that the pass game is going to improve once they begin to figure out what works. Some good things are all ready happening. Shakir and Kincaid are examples but the complaints about no deep threat are legit. Someone with speed needs to be a threat even if they don't actually catch the ball. I still think schematically, there is a way to utilize the strengths of the receivers we have. It's just not being done consistently...yet. -

The only one eliminating the running game is Brady. And I think he learned his lesson on that. -

Cook had over 140 yards before he was even touched against what was supposed to be one of the NFLs best run defenses last week. The OLine is really dominating. The blocking has been spectacular. The Bills are going to keep on running. I'm also pretty sure Allen is going to be dialed in for KC. I would be very surprised if the Bills have anything less than 30pts in this game. Add in all of the recent reinforcements to the defense, the Bills could very well dominate this game. If the pass rush looks anything like last week against a shaky KC OLine, I see a frustrated Mahomes trying to do too much and making mistakes. A lot of people are quick to point out all of the flaws with our team. Very few even bother to look at the opposing team's flaws. Believe it or not, but KC has them too. A lot of them. -

True, but what many are suggesting is that we play the same boring, contain the QB defense, that we've played repeatedly with poor results. The difference between KC and Buffalo is an ability to adapt and change. Buffalo has a real problem with this. I'm thinking that all of these recent additions to our defense is going to be a serious problem for KC. Our defense has been transformed and the coach needs to cut them loose. KC won't know what hit them. Wouldn't exactly call it a heater. More like, ok, they're not dead yet...lol. -

Why is everyone ignoring the remaining schedule of KC and Buffalo. Neither of these teams can afford to lose this game. There are likely more losses coming. The sense of urgency needs a serious shot in the arm now. Not later. With the way KC is playing right now, the Bills need to smell the blood in the water and attack. Mahomes has struggled all season. Get after him and force him to make mistakes. Let me know when you've watched the seven sack performance from the last game. You're sleep walking through this season. -

The Eagles didn't have any trouble harassing Mahomes. They are weak this year. You play them the way are, trash. -
