  1. Great story Kansas (though I don't like the 'tude). Anyone of these guys should get down on their knees and thank their lucky stars that they get a chance to play pro ball--no matter where. Wish we could get Arthur but ain't happening--maybe Jamie Collins or Zaviar Gooden, etc...
  2. Harper was timed at 4.47-4.49 at his pro day--not too shabby for a 6'1" 229 lb WR. Probably gone in the 4th but if he lasted 'til the 5th that would be nice. His teammate Arthur Brown OLB did well too. And boy do we need LB'ers. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/rob-rang/21862387/pro-days-ksus-brown-harper-quiet-critics-with-impressive-workout
  3. The man who made the business decision to give Fitz this contract should have been fired. It's a joke he still has a job! Fitz's release is confirmation it was a very bad decision. In what other business would an exec make such a horrible decision and still be employed (sure, on Wall Street he would have gotten a bonus and in DC he would have been relected--but I mean aside from those places!!).
  4. Trade back--get D help and then you're not reaching for a QB... In this scenario, I would then draft a WR or TE in 2 (depending on FA) and then grab another LB in the 3rd. Trade back, please!!!!
  5. Alexander is a restricted FA. It was expected he would be tendered at a 1st or 2nd round pick. Which would have been rich when considering the salary he will also demand. They have now tendered him at original pick tender and since he was an unsigned rookie they get no picks. So, this begs the question--why would they do that? From what I've read they must have a concern about his knees. That means other teams should be too. Should we risk big $$ on someone who might be out more than he plays? I don't think we have the cap space to take the risk-too many holes to fill. That said, if he were to be cleared by the medical staff it might be worth a shot (though we might merely end up negotiating for SD)...
  6. Jones is BPA over Smith/Barkley. He's Von Miller-lite. Would be a BIG boost to the LB corps. Love him at 8 if he is indeed medically cleared. Take our QB in 2nd, another LB in the 3rd and then WR/TE in the 4th (depending on FA}, CB in 5th and OL in 6th.
  7. I agree that the most likely trade down would involve a team looking for the number three OT because there is a legitimate drop-off after Joeckel, Fisher and Johnson (I think Johnson is the guy people might move for--after the Combine everyone was buzzing about his upside and some were saying he might turn out as the best of the lot because he has only played OT briefly so his ceiling is higher--personally wish this was last year when needed an OT). That said, even if it were possible, Buddy won't do it. I say we draft for value-defense not QB--LB, LB and then go QB or WR or TE. By the way, where are all the people who in the past years have vehemently opposed drafting for need rather than value?
  8. Zaviar Gooden Pro Day info--couldn't find much but with his speed and agility perhaps he could help us out: http://m.columbiatribune.com/blogs/behind_the_stripes/speed-sets-apart-missouri-s-gooden/article_448e84fc-87a4-11e2-83ad-001a4bcf6878.html http://www.columbiamissourian.com/a/159507/family-helps-missouris-zaviar-gooden-prepare-for-nfl-draft/ http://www.abc17news.com/news.php?id=9233 Jamie Collins has his Pro Day tomorrow...
  9. Here's some more for those who are interested (Scott is now being mentioned as a potential 3rd rd pick): http://tucsoncitizen.com/wildcatreport/2013/03/07/arizona-pro-day-matt-scott-airs-it-out-preps-for-interview-with-eagles/ http://tucsoncitizen.com/wildcatreport/2013/03/07/richrod-matt-scott-as-good-a-thrower-as-ive-coached-or-competed-against/ http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/rob-rang/21826452/pro-days-interest-high-in-arizona-qb-scott-after-pro-day http://www.foxsportsarizona.com/03/07/13/Scott-great-again-at-Arizonas-Pro-Day/landing_azwildcats.html?blockID=875547&feedID=3613
  10. Amen, brother!!! Load up on value. As for drafting an OT, sure it would help but with Glenn, Pears, Hairston and Sanders, I gotta hope we have two solid OTs to put out there. However, is the upgrade at OT going to make more of an impact than a LB or hybrid OLB/DE on Pettine's 3-4 hybrid when all we've got is Sheppard and Bradham (Moats? White?)--I'm not so bright but I think we don't have a better LB corps than most SEC teams! I'm a Jersey guy for crying out loud--Rutgers' two draft eligible LBs Khaseem Greene and Steve Beauharnais might be better than our top two--pretty sad!! As for WR, easy to make a similar case over OT--I just personally think there is no WR worth a top 10--gotta take at least one WR and a TE (depending on how we play out FA-if we sign a TE then take 2 WRs).
  11. We're Bills' fans--of course, the year that Buddy finally concedes that we need a QB is the year the QBs are mediocre at best (frankly, the guy should have already been fired--the miscalculation on the Fitz extension and not admitting/correcting his mishandling of the QB situation were sufficient justification--it made no sense to keep him around Whaley is more than ready and is surely qualified and is knowledgeable about the roster so there is institutional knowledge for the new coaching staff to rely on). We're not snake-bitten to the degree Cubs' fans or Red Sox fans are (or "were" in the latter instance) but we get f'ed on a regular basis. Sure some of you old-timers and those with better memories than me can come up with a load of examples--from "wide right" to "The Music City Miracle" (on a massive scale) to bad luck with the draft (imagine if the Niners hadn't picked Patrick Willis one spot ahead of us the year we needed a MLB, imagine if Seattle hadn't "over-reached" and drafted Russell Wilson in the 3rd round last year when we were allegedly ready to nab him in the 4th), etc...
  12. Need one SOLID free agent signing who fits Pettine's scheme (not an old, slow Bart Scott--only sign him on the cheap and just expect him to serve as a "player-coach", if you will). Then in the draft I hope to God we go LB at 8 (Jarvis Jones if he's there is worth the risk--"Von Miller-lite"),or Dion Jordan (I think he will be a freak and is SO versatile) or Ogletree (there is a dearth of ILBs and he is the only one worthy of a top 10 pick), ASSUMING he made it through the interview and they feel he's safe). Then we grab another later (3-4) and hope for the best--e.g., Zaviar Gooden, Sean Porter at OLB or a Bostic, Alonso at ILB.
  13. Now if Fitz would restructure his deal... Just saying, we gave him a chance to be the man and he failed. Now man up and give us some more cap space so we can love you while we groom our QB of the future. He already hauled away a nice chunk of change. Plenty of other guys doing it (I know the situation is different but he does owe something to us for giving him a chance and a Brinks Armored car!).
  14. Funny how we could grab a really talented OT at 8 (e.g., Lane Johnson or Fisher) but we don't need one badly enough. Hope someone else does and we can cash in with a trade back. There is surely going to be one of the top three OTs there at 8--someone might bite, the drop is big. Warmack might be there too and someone might get hot for him.
  15. If we take him in the 5th after grabbing (in no particular order--BPA) OLB, ILB, WR and a TE, I could live with it. Then you can take a gamble next year on a QB with a higher pick. I just feel there is far too much CERTAIN value at positions of need other than QB...
  16. He was indeed buried on the depth chart. With our $$ situation (i.e., prioritizing re-signing Byrd and Levitre), he might be in our price range. Wouldn't he also meet Buddy's desire for an "open when he's covered" WR? Here's an article from the Daily News about him (there are others out there in the NYC area press): http://www.nydailyne...ticle-1.1276125
  17. We can also help our QB out by getting a TE who can take some pressure off the WRs (remember Chandler is coming back from an injury and is really not a top TE--he's a nice piece).
  18. I can't stand the fact that this is the year Buddy committed to drafting our franchise QB. We can't get a break! Bray is a tool so let's draft Matt Scott in the 5th, hope Fitz will achieve mediocrity and take value picks in every other round. We sure have enough holes--LB, WR, CB, OL (depth), do I have to go on? Then we can draft another QB next year! Blows, huh?
  19. Every expert indicates there is no high first round value at QB but that, as in past years, QBs will go higher than they should. Does that mean we need to drink the Koolaid? We all know we need a QB but if there is no value there why buy high? In stark contrast, we know there is high first round value on D. Why not draft where you are getting value ... at D? I'm fine with taking a guy like Bray later (I'd love to go QB in the third) and developing him while drafting a D player who we know can play (and there will be one there for sure at 8). Where are all of the guys on this board who always vehemently objected to "reaching"? 'Cause that"s what we're doing by taking a QB at 8.
  20. I would be OK with Woods in the 2nd. I think he will be a quality NFL receiver. We are in desperate need of help there. Gotta go D in the 1st (value for the pick is there as opposed to the QBs). Also, don't forget we need a TE so that might dictate how we take care of the WR need (i.e., do we draft a Woods in the 2nd if we sign a quality TE in FA?).
  21. NFL Network hand-timed him at 4.25 -- WOW!!! That said, he ain't gonna be a Bill.
  22. The more I look at the players who are available in the draft the more I think we go and draft according to the strength of the drafty--defense in the first two or three rounds followed by a TE/WR and then draft a QB. Reaching for a QB will set us back. We have enough holes to fill and can do so with quality players. If we are going to develop a QB let it be one we draft later after we acquire quality defenders who can start and play. I don't see a QB who can do that. BPA!!!!!!
