  1. This defense, and every other, is designed to get the MLB to the ball. EVERY MLB on every team SHOULD be leading their team in tackles. Period. Poz is average at best, Whitner too. Try to name one really significant play that either has made all year. There aren't any. I like 'em both, but they are very ordinary players.
  2. I've been wondering the same thing. Early in the year, even though we now know that we were playing poor teams, Turk was doing a lot of creative stuff. Now, I see empty backfield on third and one and think "why totally tip your hand like that? Why not keep a back in at least to make the defense THINK you might run (vs Teeing off on the QB). I haven't a clue, but I thought he was super early in the year, and now it looks like Fairchild 2.0.......
  3. Re: That punt by Greggggg: I was there, and also could not believe that we were losing by 20 in the 2nd half and this moron punts from the Pats 37 yard line. I turned to my buddy at the time and said: This guy just quit on his team! He lost me w/ that one for sure. BTW, the punt sailed into the end zone, so we netted 17 yards. And on the next N.E play, they threw one of their flanker screens and scored on it, sealing the game....... Oh, and when you defer, that gives the other team the first chance to get the lead, which is statistically significant, and coupled w/ our horrible defense, gives our opponent a better chance of winning (see SF game as an example). Defering would not usually matter, but to this team, right now, it's the wrong thing to do. We've done it the last 3 weeks, and KC and SF scored TD's immediately, and the Fins used the field position advantage to score on their second possesion. We're not too good at coming from behind; hence defering bad.....
  4. When Kelsay made that play yesterday, I said " Kelsay actually made a play!". It was THAT unusual. He's a good guy, but a very weak D.E. He ALWAYS takes the wayyy round about route on his "pass rush", and he is run over at will by every other team. He is just not NFL caliber. Period. He is not helping this Team in any way.
  5. Money aside, Kelsay just never, ever makes a play. Ever. He is the least impactful player on the field, every week. I think the coaches are well aware of this this, but they have no depth. Watching Kelsay take his wayyyy round about "pass rush" is almost as frustrating as watching every running play to his side succeed. This has nothing to do w/ yesterday; he has never been a difference maker, except for the other team.....
  6. I believe what happened was this (just my opinion): Crowell was entering the last year of his contract. Like every vet, particularly "important" ones, he wanted an extension. His agent no doubt had been wanting to finalize an extension BEFORE the season, for lots of reasons, including potential injury, etc...The Bills did not have as high an opinion of Crowell as he and his agent did, and were not going to bring him back next year. As the season was on the brink, Crowell, who did need some minor surgery, pulls a "work stoppage" on the Bills to register his displeasure w/ the team for not extending him. He figures he'll miss a few weeks, and the Bills will realize how badly they need him. But this totally pisses of RW, who says "oh yeah? Well F.U. too, and in your contract year no less". It is obvious by Ralph's recent "..quit on me" comment that this was RW's call, not DJ's. So in summary, Crow said FU, and the Bills said "I'll see that FU, and I'll raise you!"....
  7. I drove 4+ hours each way from Tampa. It was friggin' HOT!! I would say there were aprox 25% Bills fans there. It was awesome. My friend, who is a Jag-Offs fan, kept saying how he couldn't believe how enthusiastic the Bills fan were. He must have mentioned it 5 or 6 times. I said "You should see a game at The Ralph"! But props to the Jax fans: they didn't give anyone that I saw too much grief. Great game; it sure made for a nice drive home........
  8. Lot V I keep hearing; local Bills Backers party. I am driving up tonight from Tampa. As Van Miller would say: "See You At The Game!"......
  9. I've watched the game 3x. I cannot tell you how many times Stroud was in the backfield, and/or allowed others to make a play. He was totally dominant on Sunday.
  10. Yes, I'm going. I live in Tampa. Heading to Jax Beach Saturday night, then to the game Sunday. That game a few years ago where Bledsoe torched 'em was alot of fun. Lots of Bills fans there, but man, was it HOT! And it will be ridiculous again this Sunday, well into the 90's....
  11. ....I laughed out loud 3x at this. Very funny!....
  12. I think this was a power play by Crowell: Every player wants an extension going into their last year of a contract, particularly good players. Crowell had no doubt been hoping for one, and when it became apparant that he wasn't getting it, he created a "work stoppage" to clean up his knee but also to say"F.U" to the front office. Well, the F.O. one upped him on the "F.U.", and knocked him out of his chance to earn a big contract next year by having him sit all year. Politics on both sides, but I think the Bills, with everyone in the entire organization needing to look good by winning as many games as possible, did not have as high an opinion of Crowell as many on the outside do.
  13. Steve Johnson stays for sure. "3 fumbles Wright" may be gone. Mayle 86 too, as you said. Hamden looked pretty good.
  14. I have thought so too. Kelsay takes the same ultra wide rush EVERY TIME and gets pushed past the passer. I prefer Denney....
  15. My 2 cents: JP's long completion to Roscoe was well underthrown, and the short throw over the middle to Roscoe was low and behind him. He had to stop to catch it, then run back the other way, as opposed to continuing forward. And in defense of Wright, he took a direct shot to the head on his fumble. I remember Travis got hit like that a few years ago and he also fumbled.
  16. Good discuusion. No way they keep 6 cb's or 4 te's. I'd think Youboty goes, and Anderson also. I don't care for Royal, but he is one of the very few respected locker room leaders. Otherwise, he'd be gone IMO........
  17. We've never carried 6 corners. Youboty will lose out: smarts not there. And they have McKelvin behind Mcgee, not Greer. I think James is the nickle, Mac is in learning mode for a while. Just my thoughts.......
  18. Looks good. A few thoughts- We won't be keeping 5 guards. Wendling over Cox for Special Teams (I don't know if many noticed that the Bills have Cox, who was drafted as a corner, listed at FS..). Also, I think maybe Jenkins over Johnson due to exp (Johnson to P.S.). Back-up OLB looks thin; Ellison will be there. Shouman will start over the minimally talented Royal, or "Robert Royo", as Solomon Wilcotts calls him.......
  19. Excellent post, thank you. The x factor that many overlook is the emergence of a solid QB in Trent Edwards. He was a rookie last year, for goodness sakes, and many "fans" pillory him for not being able to throw in the blizzard at Cleveland, or 50 mph winds vs the Giants. The kids has all the tools, and I think he will be very good this year and beyond. Of course, like many of us, I am the eternal optimist when it comes to our beloved Bills. I say 10-6, playoffs maybe.....
  20. ...Good one, man. I laughed out loud. Thanks!
  21. Git 'er: Thoughtful post, thanks. I'm now seeing that many of the football, real opinion posts come from relative newbies, while many of the veterans are quick to condescend, disparage, and mock. Certainly not always the case, but this s/b a board for OPINIONS. I'm a 30+ yr dedicated fan; been to 2 Super Bowls, have season tix 20 yrs after moving time zones away, etc.... To have some obviously miserable veterans dismiss rational give and take is just unfortunate, in my humble opinion. Having said all that, in Marv I DO trust. We will be competitive this year. And J.P. will have a great year. "Build it (the O.L.), and they will come"...
  22. I agree Ray. Crowell and Ellison are solid (imho), and round one will bring the 3'rd member of the troika, either Willis or Poz. I think LB is OK, barring injury. RB is the other main concern, and I still believe we will get a good one in RD 2, unless we get our guy in RD #1, and then the LB in rd#2.
  23. Wow. My first post, besides a test, after aprox 10 yrs of lurking, and I get killed for having an opinion. No wonder intelligent dialog is hard to come by. I'm out, Mr. RT. I won't soil your sandbox with a contrary view. So sorry.
