They do that every offseason. They would be better off having a down year to reset their cap and roster, but you have to respect an organization that does everything it can to compete every year.

I was thinking more about having to trade for Cooper and now it appears that we have recreated that same hole.

121.8M in cap space with a directive from the owner to spend it all will cause a front office to overpay. This is like that old Richard Pryor movie Brewster's Millions.

It's just that the team has obvious needs and we went through a cap reset last year. This offseason was supposed to be the payoff where we built the second version of the Josh Allen-led Bills. And so far, the team is worse on paper than it was last year.

Darnold went and played with Jefferson and Addison for a year and revitalized his career. He then proceeds to sign with a team that just released almost all of their offensive weapons so that he can ruin it all again. But at least he got paid.

But my cap space point still stands. In fact, according to Over the Cap, they have 121.8M to spend. They will get anyone they want.

They amassed an ocean of cap space in a year with a weak FA class. They will spend a lot on money and only get marginally better.

The agents and GMs were all together for a week at the Combine. You have to think that a lot of negotiating gets done there off the record. -
Elite players don't get traded or hit FA until they are at the end of their careers. What Beane has to do is find a player that he feels is being underutilized on another team. They did this with Connor McGovern. In other words, I don't want Trey Hendrickson now. I want the version of him that signed in Cincinnati.

I don’t trust Spotrac on cap space. They deal in absolutes. Cap space is not your checkbook or bank account. It’s more like a wealthy person’s tax return after it was completed by a shady accountant.
