Low Positive

Every time I read posts by you I have to remember that "close season" is British for "off-season." But yeah, I agree with your post. They didn;t play this. But the inaction by Beane on this front displays a lack of urgency. I know that you can't draft for need, but at this point Josh is practically throwing the ball to himself, and this is after Beane talked about needed "explosive plays."

Aiyuk is asking for a trade because he wants a massive extension. How can the Niners eat part of a contract he doesn't have yet?

I actually think that the Panthers did this because they needed to foster some goodwill with their downtrodden fan base and wanted to give them something to talk about on night one of the draft. Because it is obvious that they could have had Leggett at 33. I also think that the Chiefs could have stayed at 32 and taken Worthy. In both cases Beane got something for nothing. But I still hate what he did in the context of the Diggs trade. If we still had Stef, it would be OK to trade down and take a DB with 33 and get a complementary WR later in round two. But we have a gaping hole at one of the 2-3 positions that actually win football games (QB, pass catchers, pass rush) but it seems like Beane is acting like a grandpa and shaking his cane and yelling "defense wins championships!!!!!!"

They could have, but they perhaps thought that SF would have taken him. That's the only explanation.

The Bills must of really thought low about Worthy to make that move.

Maybe that's what they see and the diabetes is working to their advantage. I hope so.

The problem with hin is Diabetes. Not that he had it, but that he doesn't treat it seriously.

If he didn't have the injury history, I would be down. He is fluid and an elite route runner with great hands. But he can't stay on the field. I know everything that every kid in America knows about Franklin, but I recently learned that he f-ed every woman that he could get his hands on even after he was married. I mean, given the fact that he's been dead for over 200 years I guess that doesn't matter, but it is a data point.

NFL Network is the best but they are so far behind that people spoil picks without intending to do so.

Williams-Brice Stadium (where the ***** play) is 1.5 hours away from Bank of America Stadium. That played a huge role in their interest.

I agree about Franklin. The thing that I heard about Leggett is that he's pretty dumb so I don't hate not taking him. And Worthy gives me John Ross vibes. I think they wanted Odunze or Thomas but when that didn't happen they were happy to move down and collect capital while still getting their guy. No one will accuse them of reaching for Franklin and/or McConkey tomorrow.

That's a good point. Worthy is a scheme fit in SF (that's why I'm surprised that Miami didn't take him), but KC is chasing the Tyreek Hill dragon since they traded him. I don't know why, given the fact that they just won two straight SB without him and really could have used a DB, but they really feel that need. BTW, I have KC PTSD as much as anyone, but Worthy gives me John Ross vibes all day. That speed is seductive, but Tyreek is great because he's an elite route runner first and fast second. I remember the entire city of Cincinnati (I live here) begging Marvin Lewis to play Ross more, but when he did he couldn't get open or catch footballs. I mean, if speed and size is all you need to play WR the Bills just need to convince Ely De La Cruz to switch sports.

I liked him at MSU (I don't watch ACC football), but the lack of separation is a concern.

I'm not sure that is true, but I do think that that the Bills think that. They did their work on him and Tez Walker.

Now that I have had time to step off of the ledge, I think that he tried to trade up into the top ten for Odunze, When that failed, he wanted Thomas. When he was taken, he had no one left with a first round grade. Better to not reach and get some additional ammo. I don't expect that they will take that late third. I think that they will use that and 60 to trade up in the second. Who they pick at what position I have no idea.

There is an issue with mid-level players staying in school because NIL money is more than 5th round pick money so the bottom half of this draft is indeed week. It will correct itself in a year or so but the lower-round guys will be older than we are used to.

I understand that he traded down because the Bills didn't have anyone left on their board with a first-round grade. But I hate the concept of "draft value." Draft picks don't play, players do. And as we stand right now, the Bills have a franchise QB and the worst WR room in the league. But my biggest source of anger is that Beane traded Diggs without a plan. That was a blunder. He should have done what the Bengals have done with Higgins, and told him "you have a contract so shut up and play."

This has been the worst off season of Beans tenure, and he should be fired on Monday.
