Both professional football teams in Ohio have a direct connection to Paul Brown and this determines both their uniform and name. The Browns are named after him so the connection is clear. But the rest goes back to Masselon High School, where Brown played HS football and had his second coaching job. Their uniform in the 40's was orange and brown with an orange helmet. Pretty much exactly the same as Cleveland's. Then when Brown founded the AFL franchise in Cincinnati, he had zero energy for uniforms or names. So, he just changed the brown to black and wrote Bengals on the helmet. And the Masselon football team's name is the Tigers, so he named his team in Cincinnati the Bengals. -
Seems personal. Did he tell Harbaugh that his butt looks big in kakkis?
-
He had fewer targets than Darius Davis, Simi Fekho, and all-time draft bust Jalen Reagor. That seems personal.

Worthy's production as a rookie gets overblown on this board for obvious reasons. He had 98 targets for 638 yards with 7 drops. Keon Coleman, who everyone here assumes is a bust, had 57 targets for 556 yards with 4 drops. And that's with Coleman playing in 13 games while Worthy played in all 17. -

I want to agree with this because it makes sense, but I'm having a hard time finding an example of a passcatcher making a big leap in production due to improved QB play. They seem to be who they are. -

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
Low Positive replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Stop pointing to the Eagles as an example to follow. If the owner has enough money, the NFL is essentially an uncapped league and the Eagles best asset, by far, is Jeffery Lurie. No other owner in the NFL is willing to spend that much cash upfront to kick cap hits down the road. The cap tricks they use are used by no other team in the league, at least at that volume, because no other owner is willing to spend like that. It makes Roseman's job easy. He gets all that value at the bottom of the first because he's not filling needs and can take a stud at a non-premium position. They're the only team that could have had a top paid QB and a pair of top paid WRs and still have the money to sign Barkley to the highest RB contract. All while having a defense that's loaded and the best OL in the league. And when they make mistakes, they use money to get out of it. Wiff on Jalen Reagor? Use Lurie cash to solve that problem with AJ Brown. People don't talk about it because they can't be fired, but owner is perhaps the most important in professional sports. -
2016-2017. Here's a couple. It's what happens when you mix frat guys, beers, and golf carts.

One Song to Listen to For the Rest of Your Life....
Low Positive replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in Off the Wall
This is a hard topic because there are so many. My desert island album is Paul's Boutique, but since this has been the most streamed song on my Spotify Wrapped for the past three years I'll go with this: -
You say that now, but how will you feel if KC signs him?

He's not wrong in the way that WRs have been traditionally deployed, but Joe Brady likes to move pieces around so both Shakir and Moore will line up all over the place. As will Coleman. We just both said the same thing but you put it better because you know ball a lot better than I do. -
When we had Diggs in his prime, this board talked about #2 WRs like they could cure cancer. It will be a constant topic here until we need a QB again. To put it shortly, people want a jersey to buy other than #17.

I know these don't matter anymore, but since people here seem to believe that college highlight reels of draft prospects are a guarantee of NFL success here goes nothing: -

I don't disagree with you, but just to play devil advocate, go look at Wes Welker's numbers with Tom Brady and without Tom Brady. Also, if you take your argument to its logical conclusion you will come to the opinion that QBs don't matter. If Chase can put up big numbers with Browning, why pay Burrow >50 million? -

Russell Wilson has to be pretty high on that list. He throws that moonball better than anyone. -
There is another guy available to the Bills who had back-to-back 600-yard seasons in 2020 and 2021. I think Beane should sign him.

I’ve never been in a position to turn down 900,000, so I have no idea what I would do. -
It's also how the Dolphins put up 70 on Denver two years ago. It was a 1:00 September game in Miami. Once the Fins got up big, you could see the Broncos defense just give up.

I think most people can change. But NFL WRs aren’t most people. -
My son could have played any sport he wanted to play but he had to express the interest. He tried baseball and quit because of all the yelling. He played youth club soccer and then played in high school. He got at least 5 concussions playing soccer as well as a pretty serious knee injury. My daughter, who was a HS keeper, got multiple concussions and broke her hand twice and arm once.

The thing that annoys me about this discussion in general is the idea that drafting WRs would automatically fix the problem. What if I told you that the Bills drafted a slightly undersized WR who can practically fly in the second round of the draft? Would that make everyone feel better? How would everyone feel if we drafted a WR in the second that had this pre-draft evaluation by Lance Zierlein: ”Superb combination of size, strength and speed. Forward lean and early burst into routes. Eats into cushions faster than cornerbacks expect. Sudden hands to stab high fastballs on first two levels. Silky smooth deep-ball tracker with second gear to run under it. Graceful body adjustments in mid-air for 50/50 balls. Excellent quickness to gather and squared to QB.” BTW, I just described two guys on the Bills roster, picked in the second in back to back years. Can you guess who they are?

His father was tweeting about targets just this past season. Some of these guys cannot be humbled. They can’t fail, they can only be failed. Chase Claypool, for example, still thinks he’s a top-5 WR.
