Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF
Low Positive replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Does every thread on here have to turn into "fire McDermott?" There are about 10 of you who refuse to talk about anything else. Here's my take, for what it's worth. Josh is the franchise. Much more so than even Tom Brady was in New England. If Josh thought he was wasting his career with McDermott, he would ask for, and get, a coaching change. If he thought that Beane was incompetent and only gave him players that he can't use, he would force a different plan or get him fired. If he wanted a diva #1 WR, he would get one. He's the franchise. He got a WR in the draft last year and a pass catching TE the year before. We all hated those picks and assume that it was Beane making another idiotic choice, but all indications are that Josh chose both Dalton and Keon. He just does his business in the background, so it looks to people here like he's a helpless child being exploited by the arrogant McDermott and hapless, idiotic Beane. There is also no way that he doesn't have huge amounts of input into the offensive game planning and play calling because if he didn't like the plays that Brady was calling we would see frustration on the sideline. They have talked about how key offensive players are heavilly involved in the game planning. Josh chose Joe Brady. Josh chose Ken Dorsey. He's been picking his own coaches for the past 5 years. If he wanted a different head coach, he would have one. Josh Allen is THE FRANCHISE. If you are frustrated with the direction of the franchise, take it up with him. -

I just went and watched it from the sideline view. If the handoff is made, it was going to go for some yards. -
Can we make one thread for "Beane is the worst drafter in NFL history" so that this discussion doesn't take over everything else?

Hamlin is a backup and ST player this year. Hancock might take his spot, but he won't be starting at safety. -

Elite WRs get wide open with elite route running. Ja'Marr Chase makes DBs trip over their own feet. But he's one of the best WRs in the history of the game. -
They didn't call really obvious PI on OSU earlier in the game, so what goes around comes around. The Buckeyes are still gonna win that wooden turtle, so R E L A X.

A 43rd roster spot limited to participants of the new International Pathways Partnership with the Nihon Sumo Kyokai? I love it!

Let's lose the next 12 games on purpose. Also, let's trade Josh Allen. Just think of how many high firsts we could get. The Bills would control the draft board!

And those are just the guys on IR. The Bengals first-rounder Shemar Stewart held out of camp and then got hurt during the week 2 game. He's been inactive since. People here know about the holdout but not the injury because, just like Hairston, it's not national news like a QB injury. -

It's funny how we (and I'm including myself in this) are able to have measured and reasonable takes about the Chiefs and Ravens but not about the Bills. That being said, I don't think the Chiefs can play any harder than they did on Monday night in Jacksonville. They were also gifted 7 points in the first half when Mahomes played the "don't you know who I am" card with the refs. They knew they had to win that game, and they didn't. Mahomes said as much after the game. I know we're all focused on the Chiefs, but we should start paying attention to those Jaguars. They should be 5-0 if not for a horrible DPI call on 4th down on Cincinnati's game-winning drive in week 2. Everyone's focused on the Colts, who should have two losses if not for a huge gift from the refs, but the Jags are talented and well-coached. Back to the original topic. The Bills (the actual team) shouldn't be panicking, but they should be concerned about some things. One thing is how the Pats were able to stop the offense at key moments of the game. I have made arguments on this board this week that people are overreacting and that the Bills and Pats had the same amount of offense in the game, and that the Bills lost due to turnovers and penalties (both called and uncalled). All of that is true. But they also stopped the Bills in or near the Red Zone three times (two FGs and the pick). A team with a QB like Allen needs to get 7 on at least two of those drives. The lack of finish on those drives turned a potential 21 points into 6. The Bills got the ball inside the Pats' 30 5 times and only scored two TDs. There, as much as anything, is your ball game. But let the fans panic. It makes zero difference in the outcome of games. -
Does everyone forget that it was already challenged. In 2021, rookie Mac Jones and the Pats led the division until the Bills went into Foxboro and beat them on Thursday night. In 2023, the Bills had to beat Miami in week 18 to win the division. This year is no different.

Russ is one of these “power of positive thinking” people. He always expresses positive thoughts, even when things are obviously not going well. Remember his cringy press conferences in Denver?
