Yes, by then the inefficiencies and unintended consequences of Obamacare will be exposed and single payer will be the only way to clean up the mess.

Actually I believe we should pass a new law that only allows people to work 9 months of every year so that we can get 25% more people active in the workforce. All should join a union and pay hefty dues. The union (with aid from the federal government) will provide benefits to workers during their 3 month hiatus and will place workers in their "new job" once the hiatus ends. The union will decide which workers get which jobs and give preference to minorities and those with lower net worths. This policy will encourage people to spend all their money during their hiatus which will stimulate the economy. This I believe would be a much better way to attack income disparity compared to raising taxes on greedy lazy rich people and passing out free health care, disability payments and food stamps.

I don't think the young will have to pay because they can't get a job so they'll qualify for "free coverage". The best part of Obamacare is that we can borrow and print as much money as we need to in order to pay for everyone. Higher premiums for working people and rich business owners helps to reduce the income disparity in this country.

I think we can start discussing this now. We already know what our Narcissist President is going to say. How do people feel about: A balanced approach, fairness, more targeted investments in things like education, Republican obstruction, more spending (oops, I mean investments), clean energy, smart spending reductions, closing loopholes, creating more (government and union) jobs (but not border security or school security), sticking it to the big bad oil companies, a balanced approach (deliberately repeated), comprehensive amnesty (oops again, immigration reform), open borders (I mean increased border security), strengthening SS and Medicare (by doing nothing and letting the next Pres deal with it), reducing health care costs (by giving it away to so many), our commitment to Israel (as long as it doesn't mean defending them), the wonderful work done by Hillary as SOS (even though there are almost no accomplishments to point out) and getting military style (well they look like nasty military weapons) assault rifles off the streets,

Panetta, Clinton, Rice and others are simply lying about who knew what and when and who communicated what to who. They're just continuing to play dodgeball because the criticism for not knowing is far less than the criticism for not acting. The Narcissist in chief Obama acted predictably in both the lack of urgency taken at the time and the serial lies on the subject afterward. Great, let's justify bad behavior with previous bad behavior. Let's all agree on something. Bush sucked for the most part as President. Obama sucks exponentially.

Good post.

She's very talented but I don't care for her hips, thighs, music or politics.

It's a triple edged sword. Cost inflation for the same traditional procedures that have been in place for many years, new technology and procedures (and drugs) for everything under the sun and a larger older population drawing benefits for a longer period of time. 30 years ago Uncle Charlie limped with arthritis until he died. Now Uncle Charlie gets a knee replacement. If there is a tax to be raised, the employee portion of the Medicare tax should probably be increased to cover the extra benefits that are provided compared to many years ago. Require everyone to have a medical P of A's and DNR's on file. End of life costs are a huge part of the problem. Officials in DC should take one issue at a time IMO. Spending reductions, Medicare, SS, Medicaid.

so, anybody else get boned by Obama

There is little upward mobility because of a stagnant economy. If you want to increase jobs and increase tax revenue, you have to grow the non-government economy. Raising taxes won't do that. Companies are profitable because they have right-sized their businesses based on the revenue they can generate in this economy. If Ford forecasts to sell 10% fewer cars next year, they can cut expenses and run a profitable business at 90% of their current sales. It's painful but they can probably do it. If Obama and his party want to continue to ruin consumer and business confidence with mountains of debt, more taxes and a heavy regulatory approach, we'll never grow jobs or the economy or tax revenue. We'll simply have a smaller economy and those evil corporations will shrink in order to survive. A company that is not profitable and growing can't take very good care of its' employees or hire many new ones. Labor, just like many materials, is a supply and demand commodity. Obama needs a large underclass of dependent voters in order to keep him and his party in power. His plan is working for him and his party. -
How is it that this guy Krugman has an audience? I already know the answer and it's painful.

Remember in 2009 when Janet Napolitano's org put out a report warning of the threat of right wing radicals? Obama is simply preparing to defend against that threat. Obama has filled his staff with socialist nuts. No surprise he continues to do that. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/14/federal-agency-warns-of-radicals-on-right/?page=all

Obama takes no action on gun control;
keepthefaith replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I can't believe that Obama has so far missed the opportunity to suggest a giant tax on guns with annual Federal registration fees. He must be saving that for the debt ceiling negotiations. -

I can't believe that 54 pages have been devoted to a 2nd round draft pick. -

Agree. I think it's time for him to retire. Can you imagine how bored he'll be playing against the Bills, Jets and Dolphins in future years if the Pats don't make the playoffs?

Obama knows well that the American electorate are clueless to a great extent.

Jobs Are His Number One Priority
keepthefaith replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Obama doesn't need a jobs council in order to create more government jobs or publically funded union jobs. Tax, spend, borrow, repeat. -

The Federal Government can't manage anything well. Even if socialized medicine were a good idea, it wouldn't be for this government. About the only things the feds have excelled at over the years are defense and the space program and we can thank the Russians for providing the competition that drove us to perform well in these 2 areas. Had we had a monopoly on space and military action, we'd suck at those things too. -
She gave the correct liberal answer on gun control. Without that she loses.

Maddow gets high marks for her perfect enunciation. I'm sure she appeals a lot to the angry, jealous, uninformed anti-capitalist victims in our country. -
When was the last time that things were good?

You can see the shift in values and personal responsibility every day in the parking lot of any plaza, supermarket or Walmart. When I was a kid, I was taught not to cross the road or parking lot until it was clear to do so. Now people step off the curb on street corners and leaving stores and just expect cars to stop for them as walk selfishly slow. You'll then often notice the ugly shape of their bodies and their absolutely rudderless approach and facial expressions as they walk. Then, the same idiots may have opened their car door into yours and thought nothing of it as they get back into their dirty unmaintained car and drive away. -

Yeah, what Nixon was involved in is eclipsed almost weekly now in the White House in terms of rotten judgement and covering up the truth.
