  1. Personally I think conservatives (myself) need to bend on this issue. Much bigger fish to fry. I don't see anything wrong with allowing civil unions among gays. I don't how I feel about gay couples raising kids, but that probably goes more to the quality of the parents than their gender.
  2. At what cost to taxpayers? How do you measure the success of the bailout? Number of jobs "saved"? If so please provide the cost to taxpayers for each job.
  3. It will sell faster if it comes with a set of winter gloves.
  4. I can't see any QB on the roster having much success behind this offensive line.
  5. So sad and so true. A platform of common sense and doing the right thing should be a winner in November, but getting that person to live up to that pomise would be another matter.
  6. Agree and add Clinton, elder Bush and Reagan to the list. It's utterly ridiculous that the current administration would choose a law suit over solving the border problem (securing it). This is one of the worst examples of politics over purpose that I can recall in a long time. Aren't Presidents and congresspeople sworn to uphold the law?
  7. Dripping with sarcasm. !@#$ Barney Frank and all of his followers.
  8. Business people = bad Government = good Fanny and Freddy = government Fanny and Freddy = good Any reform aimed at Fanny and Freddy would have been an obvious admission that they too had some responsibility in the "crisis". We all know that Fanny and Freddy were victimized by the greedy mortgage brokers. Those pesky brokers forced Fanny and Freddy to buy up all those loans and forced Fanny and Freddy to pay the highest prices in the market for those loans even when Fanny and Freddy didn't have the necessary reserves to withstand a downturn in the market. Those damn greedy !@#$ brokers cost the taxpayers billions!!!
  9. It takes two to tango
  10. Ryan is a star in the making and the type of individual you want in government. Anytime he speaks, he's prepared and supports his case with numbers. In the Matthews video, Crowley simply speaks in gereralities and offers no facts or solutions other than tax, tax, tax. I've said this before, but the numbers tell the story. They don't lie. Spending has to be reduced. It's a no-brainer, but not many on the left can be confused with the facts. Their minds are made up regardless of the numbers.
  11. Well that settles it. Obama's spend, spend, spend and tax policies are working. The stimulus bill pulled us from the brink of disaster and saved the economy.
  12. I would just call them boring. They'd rather go to bed early on a Friday so they can get up early Saturday to ride instread of whooping it up on the weekend. The colorful spandex is worn to make you think they aren't boring. They are wannabe's in the sense that the colorful clothing often includes numbers or fake sponsor names even though they have never raced.
  13. The devil is in the detail and the detail of most bills that Obama signs is butt ugly. Did you know that the financial reform bill is full of minority hiring requirements? Why on earth would anyone write that into a "financial reform" bill?
  14. Greed by who? Fannie and Freddie would buy nearly every mortgage offered to them and did so with minimal reserves. They set the market.
  15. Caterpillar has an assembly plant in Illionois and they pay about $13 for entry level jobs there, about the same as what GM paid in Tonawanda in the 70's. Difference being you could raise a family on that in Bufalo then with a little overtime here and there. Same job 40 years later with the same requirements pays the same.
  16. Usually the case when the economy takes a downturn. The less productive (at all income levels) are the first to go and the remaining get a larger workload. What's missing from our economy now IMO are many of the jobs that could be done by the masses without a lot of specialization or education. We're more specialized now. Showing up on time and working hard doesn't go as far as it once did. You have to add value to an organization.
  17. \ No doubt. Ever notice how the controlling party usually royally !@#$s up the opportunity to do something good with the opportunity?
  18. I'm sick and tired of hearing minorities ask for special treatment and for blaming race and racism for disparities in income, health care and education. I don't see racism as the reason for the divide. I see the everyday decisions and choices that people make and don't make as larger contributors to their destiny. Am I a racist?
  19. That's been the chirp of liberals for years. I'm convinced that when this issue is taken up in Congress, some that hold office will learn for the first time that the cuts benefitted nearly everyone.
  20. Wouldn't it be better if it went to neither?
  21. This story starting to get some legs. http://www.examiner.com/x-35976-Conservati...ination-in-2008
