Depends if you want to be the windshield or the bug. We had a recession followed by malaise. The recovery started in 2017.

PPP Trump Job Approval: The First Year
keepthefaith replied to Dorkington's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Only following the Iran protests from a distance but it seems to me that thinking this will result in regime change and regime change for the better is wishful thinking. Seems very unlikely to me as those in power will easily prevail unless there is a military coup. -
PPP Trump Job Approval: The First Year

I'm not at all. Trump or any President being a bit snarky or tough or hard headed doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that he's done a good job of identifying the larger issues that we face but then he gets down in the dirt with his opposition on a lot of petty stuff and often sounds like a high school sophomore in the lunch room. He simply doesn't command respect very often in his public demeanor. I'll judge him by what he does more than what he says or how he says it but he's too easy not to like and it's better to like the people you do business (or politics) with. You get more done and it's easier to bring others to your side. Frankly he's blowing a fantastic opportunity to be the mature business person in a room full of petulant politicians and show the country and the world why a seasoned business exec is a better choice as a President. Instead he's down at Nancy Pelosi's level frequently. Fortunately his policy positions are much better than hers. Give me Rex Tillerson with a little bit of Trump thrown in as President. -

Agree. The guy cannot self assess or doesn't care about how he's perceived when he should. The sad part of that is he'd be in a good position to win support of a greater portion of the electorate and some in congress by simply adjusting his style. Instead he turns people off which makes it harder to get things done. -
I know some sore losers but you are the polesitter in that regard.

He won't need to call out Trump to win. Frankly won't won't need to say much at all. So when Comey announced they were re-opening the Hillary investigation in October, was law enforcement acting with integrity in your view?

Jags. If they beat the Bills I hope they go on to beat the Patriots in the AFC championship game.

No why would anyone have a goal to "see the demographics of the country change even more"? I think a physical wall would be somewhat effective but is certainly not the answer entirely. The larger "hole" is probably the coast of California where people can be delivered by boat into the welcoming arms of Governor Brown. Yes, we need to end incentives for people to enter the country the wrong way, but it's tough to do with some of those incentives delivered at the state level.

PPP Year-End Awards: Now accepting nominations!

Why not just give a participation trophy for everyone that posts? Seems like that would be more in keeping with the times. Yay for everyone! -
Top two NFL QBs in salary, did not make the playoffs
keepthefaith replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is the stupidity of the owners that go along with the agents constant requests to escalate QB salaries based on comparisons to other overpriced QBs and the perceived future value of a franchise QB that is the cause of the subject of this thread. That and I'll throw in the guaranteed contracts for coaches and GMs that underperform are also stupid. -
Putin Outlaws Political Opponet

So what do you do once you find them, try to find a job for them or some other form of hope? What if after you find them they won't tell you where more are located? Then what, waterboarding? Sounds to me like Vlad wants them killed whenever they are found. -
NFL.com: Gregg Rosenthal's QB Index
keepthefaith replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course QBs who hold the ball longer are more often pressured. Tyrod is a good 2nd half QB and I don't mean the 3rd and 4th quarter. He's a good 2nd half of passing play QB. He seems much more comfortable holding the ball through the designed portion of the pass play (making initial read or two and then throwing the ball) in order to get to the extended part of the play. That's the part where he rolls, scrambles and looks for the nearest open guy and throws it to him. He's playing a 7 on 7 game. -
I'm not schooled in economics as you are and enjoy reading many of your posts. I'm very concerned about our mounting national debt and as a business owner the high costs of doing business especially in more recent years. Businesses especially during the Obama years had a lot of cost increases in all kinds of insurance, taxes (many of them local) and also service and material cost increases. Our business has become increasingly difficult to manage cost-wise. The corporate tax rate change for large corporations provides a significant incentive for them to invest more in people and business development. A good thing IMO and a hedge against other rising costs. I've looked at tax revenue history during since Reagan and I'll wager that we won't see a $1T annual deficit at any time during Trump's Presidency as I believe the recent cuts will grow the economy and grow revenue to the government. I'll be really disappointed if the spending side isn't also addressed so that we can close the gap and Republicans are at least talking about that. All spending needs to be examined and re-prioritized IMO and Medicare/Medicaid/SS have to be addressed. We've got to find a lot of savings in those entitlements or be honest with the public and raise tax rates for those programs or a little of both. If we can do this (probably a pipe dream) we can put to bed for a while the runaway debt we're seeing over the past 20 years or so. As for the Fed Reserve, it certainly seems as though there is a big incentive to keep rates relatively low as the cost to fund our debt will be ridiculous at some point otherwise. I don't fully understand all of their priorities in making rate decisions but it would seem to me that the debt service cost should be a factor.

Why I wouldn't want Cousins in Buffalo

Bradford is a china doll and a weird dude. Not many teams will want him as a starter. -

Agree. Did anyone watch Foles Monday night? No thank you. He is another captain checkdown. -

The only way to get a QB even relatively cheap is to develop a young player and then you have to pay him a ton or lose him. It's hard to rationalize the market for even mediocre starting QBs. Somehow the agents put together a spreadsheet that shows that QB A got this and QB B got that and since my guy will be better than both, he is worth more than either one. Then they show that the salary cap is going up by X% over the next 5 years therefore my guy is worth ((QB A + QB B) / 2) x 1.5 and the owners say OK and the constant leapfrogging of QB salaries continues.
