  1. Wouldn't Davis fill as big a void immediately and be a major upgrade?
  2. I'm not talking skill positions here, I'm talking best talent available. I don't see how it analogizes with fancy windows. I also don't advocate strict BPA selection. I'm suggesting that if there was a no-brainer talented LB available, we should take him over a position of 'high need'. It won't be long till our LBs are old(or unable to recover from injury).
  3. It seems to me that this is the major opinion difference on TBD. Those that agree see things in a more optimistic light since they see that we have talent & upside that wasn't utilized properly last year. Those that disagree are obviously pessimistic about this season since they see it was not so much the coaching, but the players abilities. I am of the optimistic slant.
  4. True, but the opposite could happen... It makes sense drafting 'best possible' when you have lots of areas which need help. The following year, if we are closer, we can then draft for need. Drafting 'best possible' obviously increases the chance of getting superstar/playmakers. Drafting for need increases the chance of becoming competitive quicker. Personally, I want us to be able to win a Superbowl, not just make the playoffs. It will be interesting to see which way Marv goes. Hopefully we won't be able to tell which way he's gone
  5. I don't see us even trying to fill all those holes in the one draft. That being said, surely it would be wiser to draft the best available(bound to fit into one of those areas of need). Then fix up the rest in 2007.
  6. Can't argue with that.....though I'm sure sombody will
  7. Would suit me fine..... Calling all QBs!! Calling all QBs!! Please any QB....please step up & be a star
  8. Time will tell I guess....both with JP & the draft(soon ) I cannot invisage the Bills going with Holcomb. All the moves point to speed. If our QB ever gets time to throw, he will need a strong arm... Also, why start an old QB who will never be good enough?
  9. Well, if skip the draft & cut the good players we do have, I'm sure we could guarentee the number 1 pick.
  10. If they are after Bunkley, they could trade to Cleveland(Ngata) with only the Rams who might take Bunkley.
  11. Or take the 1st round draft picks leading up to the Packers' Super Bowl win: 1992: Terrell Buckley 1993: Wayne Simmons, George Teague 1994: Aaron Taylor 1995: Craig Newsome 1996: John Michels Or take the 1st round draft picks leading up to the Patriots' Super Bowl win: 1997: Chris Canty 1998: Tebucky Jones, Robert Edwards 1999: Andy Katzenmoyer, Damien Woody 2000: none 2001: Richard Seymour Or take the 1st round draft picks leading up to the Bucs' Super Bowl win: 1998: none 1999: Anthony McFarland 2000: none 2001: Kenyatta Walker 2002: none Or take the 1st round draft picks leading up to the Bills' Super Bowl win: 2003: Willis McGahee 2004: Lee Evans, J.P. Losman 2005: none 2006: ????? 2007: ????? What was your point on 1st round picks & superbowl winners again?
  12. If your real thoughts are "it is too soon to decide"...(which by the way are my thoughts), why write... 2004a: Lee Evans. Result: chosen 13th overall, there is considerable doubt whether Evans can ever be the go-to guy. Considerable = Large in amount, extent, or degree. Why not write...."overall, there is concern" or..."overall, there is hope" or better yet,..."overall, it is too soon to decide" If you must have a signature stating your views, surely they should actually state what your views are so as to not cause needless discussions.
  13. I don't know about you, but at least for the 1st half of that season I was pretty excited about the Bills. Bledsoe was on pace to pass Marinos yardage record, PP had stepped up, positive things were happening..... then opposing defenses started to figure Bledsoe out.
  14. no space after....* ' * two spaces after.... * . * one space after.... * , * At least, that's how I remember it. I could be wrong.
  15. I agree. I think it is safer emotionally for most to assume the worst so that if we fail they can say "told you so" rather than crying.
  16. Mr. ARM... I am glad we don't have TD any longer due to the simple fact that he failed. If however I were to assess ANY GM like you assess TD I would conclude they are all crap. You seem to think that whenever a move TD made came out for the better, it was luck.... & when it came out bad(or simply neutral) it showed he was rubbish. Below, you describe McGahees problems to be the O-line yet you sign off as.... 2003b: Willis McGahee. Result: McGahee failed to provide enough of an upgrade over Henry to be worth a first round pick. Implying McGahee won't pan out as pro bowl back. You also cast judgement on Evens.... 2004a: Lee Evans. Result: chosen 13th overall, there is considerable doubt whether Evans can ever be the go-to guy. Who knows if he will be able to be a top #1WR but the outlook for most is hopeful. His first 2 years stats are comparable(or well above) most top WRs. If I've misinterpreted what you generally mean.... perhaps you should summarize your points rather than listing your reasons & examples.....is your point basically that TD failed? If so, I don't think many would disagree with you.
  17. I don't know how our law reads either but....I know it will be a seriously ugly case all round.
  18. The trade for Bledsoe also directly obtained us the 2003b pick in WM. Bledsoes pro bowl performance that year (if you remember the first half he was on record breaking pace) inflated P. Prices numbers to #1 WR status. Who can honestly say we could have gotten the trade to ATL for PP if we had not traded for Bledsoe?
  19. Why so sure of Ngata(over Bunkley)? Or even that Marv thinks either are worthy of #8?
  20. I think you are right in that they are looking for a lineman. 2 points though... If a non-lineman of great talent drops i.e. Hawk, I think(hope) they will go for him. The 'character' thing I think is misunderstood by most. Yes, the player has to be an upstanding citizen with his head screwed on right but... He also has to be a focused individual on the field as well. The worry I have on Ngata is his effort can be inconsistent& he takes too many plays off. He does not(as I see it) fit into the character mold.
  21. Agree about 'sure things'...it's an imposibility. I have concerns about Huff as well but I have a lot more concerns about Justice, Bunkley & Ngata.
  22. No, you misunderstood me. At the #8 pick, I want a sure thing. Neither Justice, Bunkley nor Ngata are sure things. If we can get Bush, M. Williams, D'Brick, Hawk, Davis or even Huff I would be happy & comfortable. My point is about value. At #8 I want good value or a trade down.
  23. I guess I'm a little worried of us botching up the #8 pick...the MW factor If we can trade down & get either Justice, Bunkley or Ngata I will be much more comfortable.
  24. I don't think it's a matter of 'desperate'. If they were, there wouldn't be a discussion on the issue. Do the Lions need a QB of the future? Yes.(unless they believe McCown will be it...big if) Do the Cards need a QB of the future? Yes. Do the Rams need a QB of the future? Quite possible.(have started 3 different QBs each of the last 2 seasons) If Cutler(or Young) are rated highly by the Cards or Rams.... It is not ridiculous to imagine either trading up to #8.
