Could it be the Bucs are already displeased with
Dibs replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did anyone catch the latest news? Beached Whale Rescue. Rescue efforts had been underway for several hours at one of the more popular beaches in the Tampa area. A dwarf sperm whale apparently had beached itself amongst hundreds of happy holiday makers causing heart flutters amongst environmentalists world wide..... .....as time seemed to be running out for the stranded animal, a collective sigh emanated from the gathering crowd. As luck would have it, it was not in fact a beached sperm whale at all but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers newest recruit Mike Williams sun baking. -

What do you think are chances 4 starting QB?
Dibs replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hiya. To recap, H_A said... Then I said... My points being... To say BJH had a similar QBR to JP so therefore JP is crap is stupid. I couldn't see where after I'd written this you had so I assumed H_A was referring to my post. -

Actually it was me who showed you how similar JP & Palmer's first 8 starts (stat-wise) were.(page 5 this thread) I did that to show you how futile using statistics from early in a QBs career is(yet you persist). If you really do, try.... 1)Spending more time on the research & less on the waffle. 2)Remaining consistent with your arguments. 3)Picking a point of view that can actually be defended...i.e. saying JP is crap cannot be logically defended at this point in time. It may end up being a truth but till then it is just an opinion with no real basis aside from hunch. 4)Listening to others' arguments with an open mind & a willingness to adjust your viewpoints if warranted. You will never convince anyone of anything if you simply reject/ignore intelligent rebuttals without logically countering them. One huge thing I send your way though....you keep your sense of humour which I really, really appreciate. -
mcgahee NOT as productive as thomas in 1st 2 years

Hmmm, looks like either he got injured in the USFL or he 'hit the wall'. Either way in hindsight it looks like Ralph was wise not to pay him too much. -

Did you know that in Australia the term root is slang for !@#$? i.e. I got a root last night. i.e. I'm absolutely rooted. Just thought you'd want to know. -
Because that is pure speculation(though I think quite possible). For better or worse, he is our best RB & is potentially a *star*. I'll reverse the question.... Why wouldn't you get right behind our potential star RB & support your team as much as possible? Who knows, maybe high fan support might just convince him to stay long term in Buffalo. Also....what has he actually done wrong? It is not like he is a Ricky Williams.

Geez dude, that's a bit harsh. I would have taken what he said as a compliment. I don't think he meant any malice from it....though what do I know?

I just don't get how you achieved your definitive negative assessment on JP. As shown, stat-wise he is similar to Palmer so....stats out. You seem to agree that 8 games is not enough to fully realize the potential of a young QB....so.... Do you do this just to stimulate conversation.... or are you too stubborn to step back & acknowledge that any definitive assessment on JP(positive or negative) is premature? -
Actually I don't think that assessment is confined to Americans. IMO this is an aspect of the human condition. It applies to 'the masses' in general & has probably been around since Adam said... "Stuff the rule book. I'm not reading that." and then promptly followed Eves' advice....*CHRUNCH*

I think he means that Peters is the new messiah. (sacrilege) Either that or he thinks he is a very naughty boy for some reason.

They can't be that desperate for high draft picks can they? -
Um....maybe you should read what you write back to yourself before posting. Your first line... ....is pretty clear. You are stating that (in your opinion) WM is not worthy to wear the uniform... Therfore...not worthy to be on the team. Therefore...etc, etc, etc.

<sigh> The point wasn't if we can compare the stats of 2 or more rookie QBs, the point was.... The stats are worthless. AND.... even more worthless in this case(if that can be possible) since we can only compare QBs who basically DNP their rookie year but did in their second year. Do you not see that your comparison of JP to Billy Joe Hobart is... (& I'll word this the kindest way I can) ...not valid? -

H_A....I think you should drop(totally) your arguements regarding passer ratings. 1st year QBRs are generally worthless. EXAMPLES:- Eli Manning 1st year..........7 starts.....................55.4 QBR Peyton Manning 1st year....16 starts..................71.2 QBR Don McNabb 1st year.........6 starts(12 games)...60.1 QBR BEST COMPARISON.... C. Palmer....1st year DNP JP Losman...1st year DNP(close enough to) C.Palmer....2nd year...13 starts..............77.3 QBR...BUT C.Palmer....2nd year...1st 8 starts...........66.3 QBR JP Losman..2nd year...8 starts(9 games)..64.9 QBR 1st YEAR QB STATS ARE WORTHLESS (Remember Rick Mirer?) ...You may now resume general viewing... -
Yes.... but does it make a difference if JP becomes that "leader" rather than Nall(or vice verse)? My point is....why do people get set on one over another?(to the total exclusion of the 'other' QB) As long as one of them steps up to become that "leader", why, how, , could any Bills fan think that would be a bad thing?
-
This is the one thing that really goes against Nall IMO. GB have gone through more than their fair share of QBs backing up Favre which have gone onto pro-bowls etc. This implies that the Packers organization is good at recognizing QB talent. They obviously did not think Nall 'has it'. That being said, I guess if I'm going to trust(at this point) that Marv & Co. spotted top talent in the draft which others didn't(i.e. Whitner) I should trust that they see something special in Nall as well. Honestly....why do people care so much about who should or shouldn't be the best QB? Surely as long as one becomes a champion, why would you care which one it is?

Which fierce Chicago defense are you referring to? The game where Nall lit up Chicago was the last in 2004. Chicago finished that year 5-11 with the 21st ranked D. Nalls stats were 7-13-131, 1TD... QBR: 114.6 Nall did not play at all last year. I honestly cannot see how anyone can be certain one way or the other on either JP or Nall. I don't understand....we are Bills fans....how could any of us be upset about the possibility of any QB stepping up & succeeding? -
Peter King weighs in about our draft
Dibs replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were 8 "blue-chip" value players to you... But.... If we say the Bills rated Whitner as high as that top 8 of yours(i.e. a top 9), And.... The drop off is perceived as great(by the Bills) after their top 9(as was yours after your top 8). Is it unreasonable to not want to take the risk that another team also rates Whitner as high? -
