  1. True. But that wasn't the plan prior to the draft. They struck gold with Wilson and the rest is history...
  2. A maximum of $26 million, with $10 million guaranteed wasn't chump change, either... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d827af666/article/seahawks-qb-matt-flynn-agree-to-threeyear-26m-contract
  3. Both second half TDs were beautiful. But with no blitzing and little defensive game planning, he must have felt like he was dreaming...
  4. If a Bills QB could actually perform at a top 10 pace, I personally wouldn't care if he drinks babies blood or puts a hot tub in his room...
  5. I saw what you did there....
  6. Newton profile: http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/cam-newton?id=2495455 (8.19 grade) Allen profile: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/josh-allen?id=32462018-0002-5600-29bc-8750224414bd (5.90 grade) Hey, they're about equal in he 3-cone drill...
  7. You mean, like all the bankers who swore there wouldn't be a housing crisis, all the national security guys who were certain Saddam had WOMD, all the Wall Street types who said "what Internet bubble?" in 2000? Not much different from the Tom Donahoe's of the world, who thought Mike Williams was going to be a star. But, this is indeed getting old. I hereby throw in the towel on Allen-bashing until training camp. "The deed is done, the doers undone..."
  8. Here's a report card from last year: https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2017/5/1/15493170/grading-the-2017-nfl-mock-drafts-judgment-day-for-kiper-mcshay-mayock
  9. I don't know, Vic saying that is like the pot calling the kettle black. It doesn't take a PhD to critique football player skill sets, coaching decisions or journalism for that matter. Watching and attending games for decades provides a pretty good education in what's effective, what isn't and how mistakes are repeated over and over by generations of 'professional' front office and coaching staff personnel--who supposedly do know much about football. There are plenty of knowledgeable non-professionals who can and do have valid points on Allen. To shovel those negative opinions into the "don't know much about football" dustbin is downright insulting...
  10. Well, since 40% to 50% of married couples in the United States eventually divorce, it's a crap shoot...
  11. Love is blind. And this FO clearly loves Allen...
  12. Right back at ya. If you think Allen wasn't a leap of faith by this FO, then I got some nice bridges to sell you. Every pick is a leap of faith. Some are the size of the Grand Canyon, others are more managable...
  13. Edited my post (see above).
  14. Not bashing. But I watched the game video as well--and can't see anything more than a guy with bad mechanics who throws 2-3 teriffic balls per game....
  15. Well, so be it. Their "faith" is that Allen can correct his footwork and other mechanics and somehow become something more than a big arm. McBeane may have spent a lot of time analyzing it, but it's still an "educated guess." And IMO, the odds say it is a long shot, given how few QBs have been able to make that leap... Mock drafts are entertainment, garnished with a large dose of team-supplied misinformation. Media white noise and tales told round the campfire...
  16. Yes, they are IMO...
  17. Personally, I'm disturbed by the even larger group of people who just want to see the "stigmata," no matter what the evidence suggests. Especially among posters who haven't taken the time to watch even five minutes of game video (not highlight packages, which make everyone look good). That video is easily found on Youtube. And is fair game for all the 'doubters' to comment on. Then again, I suppose the faith and hope routine that passes for analysis on TSW and elsewhere is what keeps the Bills in business decade after decade...
  18. You know, I keep hearing this repeatedly, but I don't see it when I watch his game videos. He's very often lined up in shotgun and sprinting out to one side, making it a half field read. Even worse, that tendency/scheme makes him sloppy in his footwork because he's seldom standing calmly in a pocket (that's also a function of his $hi*** offensive line), he's always on the run. I don't see the ability to read defenses that keeps being attributed to Allen. It just seems like a lot of group speak...
  19. LOL. Even the announcers were talking about his bad mechanics. It's like, "Boy, we know this guy is an NFL prospect. But he throwing off his back foot too much..." (at the 1 hour 49 minute 50 second mark) This is Allen in a nutshell. A few great passes and a whole lot of bad, unforced errors. The topper was when one announcer says he has great pocket awareness and then gets sacked on the next play after holding the ball too long (at the 2 hour, 01 minute, 39 seconds mark)...
  20. Ummm.... Full game for those with strong stomachs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdVzNkdgTGU
  21. Agreed. Nice guys finish where, again? Rosen's got a lot to prove, but the tools to do it...
  22. How does Peter Dinklage stack up against Elijah Wood?
  23. Regular attendance, dedicated S&C work and close observation of how pros prepare. After that, anything else would be gravy...
