  1. With the exception of the night in Foxboro that changed Ralph's mind about instant reply, that was the most poorly officiated game in Bills history. It was so blatantly pro-Chargers that it's hard to come to any conclusion other than the refs were attempting to influence the outcome. If more people saw the game, I'm sure there would be more outrage. There were: Two obvious pass interference calls that San Diego got away with. A pass JP completed in the first half that was ruled incomplete because JP was ruled down. He was not; the replay on the Jumbotron showed he wasn't even close to being down when he let go of the ball. The fumble was clearly in the Bills possession. A catch by Peerless on the sidelines was ruled out of bounds. The refs might have got this one right. If they did, it is a poor rule and it should be changed. Several other smaller calls that were all pro-Chargers, i.e. they gave San Diego an extra two yards on one catch. The receiver's knee was down when he caught the ball. San Diego is a great team and the Bills played just as well as the Chargers. The offense and defense made some mistakes in the first half but I thought the Bills were clearly the better team in the second half. I was proud of the way the team played today. They could have easily won it. It's a shame that such egregious officiating all but prevented them from a victory.
  2. I think this whole idea that the Bills might move because we didn't sell out a few home games is flat out silly. We still had a larger crowd at the stadium that 5 other cities last week. We've sold out 27 of the last 29. The reason for the non sellout is simple. The Bills have been a bad football team for the last 5-6 years. We've been watching bad football for the entire 21st century. The fact that we still drew 60,000+ in a rebuilding year is a testament to how great the WNY/SO market is for football.
  3. Schopp proved a couple of days ago he has something in common with Mike Vick; both flipped their best customers the bird this week. Vick did it literally, Schopp figuratively. Anyone catch the Jerry Sullivan show on Monday? A guy calls in to take Sullivan to task and mentions he wrote a letter to the editor. Schopp hangs up on him and then states that anyone who has written a letter to the editor makes him want to puke. What's the difference between calling in to a talk show on the radio and writing a letter to the editor? They are both just ways to express your opinion. Plus, Schopp must be one of the biggest elitists in WNY. He makes a living expressing his opinion but when others express theirs it makes him want to puke? I guess he feels he's royalty. He statements were not only insulting, they were stupid.
  4. Hey DaQuix, why didn't you tell us you were Leo Roth? Resign Nate
  5. I know this is his livelihood, so I hate to say this about him but I really wish WGR would fire Schoop. He never makes a comment of substance, its always some vague, weasel statement. He sounds like a guy who wants to talk about sports but doesn't watch the games. Plus, his arrogance makes the show unlistenable. I love listening to sports talk, especially after a win like today but tomorrow afternoon I'll be listening to music. I've been annoyed too many times by the WGR afternoon show. Schoop has pretty much singlehandedly ruined sports talk for me. Bulldog is a shell of his former self also. I used to listen to him every night when he was still on WBEN. Now he sounds like some burned out stoner. They always brag how they are the highest rated sport show but what choice do we have?
  6. The Bills are 2-1 since they switched up the line. I thought their play was just as important as Losman's. If they can give him time to complete some passes, teams can't just concentrate on stopping the run against us. The line was terrific today. Hopefully, they can keep it up.
  7. I wouldn't bet money on it but I don't think 7-9 is out of the question. The Bills have been in every game except the Bears and the 2nd Pats game. The San Diego game might get ugly. The rest, I can see a plausible scenario where the Bills might win. Houston, Miami and the Titans are all in our weight class. The Jags are struggling a little bit and the weather might be a factor. We've already proven that we can play well against the Jets. Baltimore has a great D, poor O so the game will probably be close. Plus 4 games are at home.
  8. I thought it was smart. Running the ball and eating up clock was one of the reasons we were in the game. In the passing game, I wish they would have run more three step drops and just had JP throw a quick pass for a short gain. I'm rooting for JP and I really hopes he suceeds. However, at this point, I don't think you can fault the coaches for not having a lot of confidence in him. (or the enitre passing game.)
  9. I was at the game and I made a point of watching him for a few series. For being a rookie playing his first game I thought he did well. He got beat a couple of times but for the most part, I thought he held his own. He's a huge man but he's not fat. He has tree trunks for arms.
  10. Being a high character player isn't about being an alter boy. It's about wanting to win. Players who will willing to do the extras and who understand what it means to be a team. Players that are interested in more than the money. Besides, I'm not sure you're list shows lack of character. Bruce Smith had troubles with drugs and he got suspended. That was the only time, so if he beat a drug addiction that, to me, shows a lot of character. He also had a problem with food when he first got here and was a balloon after his first year. He could have just taken the checks, like Mike Williams, but instead lost all his fat. Going from a tub of jello to a man with practically super-human strength shows a lot of character. Thurman Thomas is an alcoholic. I think most guys would have kept that to themselves. Thurman declared publically he had a problem. To me, that takes a lot of guts. I don't see how Jim Kelly showing leadership is considered whinning in your eyes. I'm kind of offended your feel that the heart and soul of the great Bills teams, Daryll Talley, has no character. Plus, I think Leonard Smith had a mean streak but I'm don't remember him purposely trying to other hurt players.
  11. The man hasn't even had a week of practice with the team and you already want to call him a bust? That is just plain ignorant. Do me a favor and start rooting for the Patriots, you'll fit right in.
  12. Marv is the process of doing this but he's not dumping coaches. He's getting rid of players, the same ones we've been watching fail week after week for the last five years. We have a big turnover from last year. I can see a similar one after this year. As a general rule and with a few notable exceptions, if TD brought them in, I see no problem with Marv getting rid of them.
  13. He's still on the pre-game. I heard him before the Chicago game. He told a story about the first time he did a Bills game at Soldier Field. Bob Hope was there so Van asked him to do the halftime interview. Hope was reluctant so Van said, "I've interviewed Bing Crosby before". It was lie, Van never met Crosby but after that Hope agreed to do the interview. After it was over Bob Hope asked Van, "Do you have a gift for me for doing the interview?". Van said "Sure" and he reached over, took his spotter's binoculars and gave them to Hope.
  14. I thought his best comment was when he said that if TO was on his team, he'd punch him in the head.
  15. Clements is an average CB who is getting premier CB money. The only way he doesn't hit free agency next year is if we franchise him again. I'll be very disappointed if the Bills do that. I don't see the point in overpaying a player just because we have cap room. This team has a lot of needs. If we can't spend the money on the O line, then spend the money somewhere else. Overpaying Clements just prevents you from improving the Bills elsewhere with the money and lets other players of similar skill ask for the similar contract. (Like McGee, who is another average CB, but is just as good as Clements.) If it's Clements for 10 more games vs. McFarland. I'll take the attempt to shore up the D line.
  16. No one is saying he wasn't good. TO is a great WR, I still hate his guts, he's a selfish person, arrogant and quite possibly a lunatic. Dan has insulted the city more than once. He played for Miami. What more do you need? I hate him.
  17. It was great seeing him and I too hope he is healthy. It was nice seeing all those guys from the early eighties. That was a pretty good team, I loved the way they played football; Great D and Ground Chuck's 10 minute drives.
  18. Thank you for being honest. This is the real reason for all the vitriol in this thread. What did Fred say in that interview that remotely warrants this response? The Rob Johnson comparison is a little blunt but he's pretty much making the same points as a lot of other analyists. Joe D metioned Monday on WGR that a first round pick when he played didn't get this much time to develop. Vic Carruci has said every Sunday that JP has to start showing some progress. I think they are all wrong. I like JP and I'm rooting for him. But my reasoning as to why I think they are wrong is based a lot more on hope than it is on logic. We're at the quarter pole of JP's 3rd season and he's still a big question mark. I think for every QB that gets to this point and makes it, there are probable ten that are flops. I think he's going to be one of the ones that turns out to be pretty good but, based on some of his performances so far, it's not exactly crazy talk to say that he's not.
  19. He went for it on fourth down on Auburn's 40 on the first drive of the game. Gill was trying to win the game. He put the second stringers in at the end of the game because the game was over and this isn't the pros. I thought Gill showed a lot of class letting the backups have a taste of the big time. Plus, no offense, but if you expect UB to win every game they play, you haven't been a Bulls fan for long. Auburn might be the toughest opponent any MAC school faces this year. UB played just as well as any other MAC school did this year against a upper tier opponent.
  20. "I like the Bills a lot more than I thought I would. But if you think they're going to win at Nick Saban's house, after Saban limp-wristed the replay flag in the fourth quarter during the Pittsburgh loss and after the Dolphins have had three extra days to prepare, you're crazy. Miami 16, Buffalo 14" Peter King's Weekend Pickoff So I'm crazy! Hysterical even!
  21. Hell Yeah! This is the kind of attitude we need in this town. Let's Go BUFFALO!
  22. He's a glorified gossip columnist. His skill set is the same as the reporter whose job it is to find out what Brad Pitt's baby looks like. He makes phone calls and then simply regurgitates what he hears in his column. He's been commentating on the Bills based on their Sunday night primetime highlights for a least two years now. I don't remember the last time he said anything of worth on WGR. Usually, he talks the most about fluffy subjects like "the T.O. situation" or something even non-football fans can form an opinion about.
  23. Either he's completely ignored the Bills all pre-season and he's just restating what he heard about last year's team. He was in Houston (but couldn't be bothered to come to Rochester for training camp) and asked Eric Moulds opinion. Or, it's Vincent. PK kisses his butt everytime he's asked about Troy. This seems to be the way it works: player, coach or GM either spills the beans or offers opinions to a member of the media. Reporter gushes about what a great guy/player the stool pigeon is during interviews. If it is Vincent (and, of course, I'm speculating), I'd just cut him if he's going to cause problems in the locker room. I think this is his last year with the team anyway.
  24. We've been juiced! And to think, for all these years I've thought that Don Shula owned the refs.
  25. I think I'd take Tiki, he's probably the most "sure-thing" RB left. (I do think Cadillac is going to have a monster year, if he stays healthy.) That's the toughest spot this year. Good luck.
