Hmmm, let me see. Lets deplete our DL for a selfish (albeit entertaining) player who would cry if something didn't go his way. No thanks. Dumb idea. Really dumb.

Why do you think Franks is any good? In the Packers pass-happy offense and with Favre having a great year, Franks still did squat. It is time people stopped wanting FAs just because they recognize the name.

No, I don't think so. -

I'd never want the guy. I don't care how good he is, because with his attitude he would make everyone around him play worse. -
Cool! Congrats. I'll drink a beer in your honor.

Me: 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero Wife: 2003 Subaru Forrester XS Love them both. The forrester is fantastic in the snow. The Saab is essentially a Subaru Imprezia WRX with slightly stiffer suspension, different turbo settings and a bit more soundproofing.

anybody who thinks the bills will draft a LB in the first round is a complete mongoloid. Anyone who thinks this is even plausible is mentally disabled. A LB early in the draft last year, a LB on the first day of FA, and a solid starter in Crowell. WTF are you thinking?

It is valiant for you to attempt to cover Rosen's butt, but we know it is really him.

If we released spikes because of injury concerns, why would we sign Wilson who has injury concerns? Because we recognize his name?

Someone I actually respect hate's buffalo's FA

Well, you can't go anywhere unless you are in it. If we get better, we make the playoffs. If we don't, our lack of talent is why. But hey, there are still possibilities out there in FA, and more possibilities in the draft. -
Pro Football Weekly Interview with Jaworski I respect Ron Jaworski and awful lot. He's really the only analyst who I think calls it straight and ignores the hype. However, he thinks the Bills are the biggest loser in FA. Frankly, I can't disagree. I don't have any problem with the reasons behind why we lost or got rid of the players we did, however I don't see how they are being replaced. We can't do it all in the draft, and we don't have the players on our roster that can immediately step up and get it done. There's no LB on our roster that makes up for our two LB losses. One DT doesn't equal two LB losses, especially in a rotational system. I think the Bills are headed in the right direction, but I was hoping they would make a run for the playoffs this year, and I just don't see it with all the losses without a net gain.

Um, yeah, I can think of many worse offseasons. Remember the first year donahoe got here and we released EVERYONE? Remember when Thomas and Smith were released. That's not to say I am happy with the idea of trading Spikes, but I prefer to take the offseason as a whole, and not freak out about every little thing.

Talks between Bills and Chris Brown heating up.

Smith has a SB ring. -
Umm, yeah. Like that has a chance of happening. And did you hear the rumor that we're buying another moon from jupiter? We're gonna drag it to earth with a moped and put it in orbit by next week.

Exactly. Kiper's job isn't to evaluate players. His job is to figure out where people will go, create as much hype as possible, and sell magazines based on that hype. Kiper doesn't have insight into a team's personnel plan, the team's own scouting information, etc. We'd all be best to ignore that crap and enjoy the day, unless you think you can evaluate players better than Buffalo scouts.

When am I allowed to push the panic button?

After the second preseason game. -
Meh. I think you judge an offseason as a whole. Writing an article like that 2 weeks into FA is kinda stupid. Actually, really stupid.
-
My draft strategy is to actually let people who can aptly evaluate players handle those issues. Think Kirwan, Kiper or of the "gurus" can actually do that? Doubt it, or else they'd be employed elsewhere. All they do is look at "measurables" and estimate who will go where based on need and "value". That's why I don't put much stock in their crap.

Oh, there's nothing here that could infuriate me. It is only a web board, for Pete's sake (ha). However, "we'll see" validates my point. There aren't facts to back up yours.
-
Actually, most of the media had buffalo winning between two and four games this past year, and Losman getting benched.

Love the willis excuses, but I like facts better. 1. Levy is on record - on the radio - saying that rosencrap "reminded" him that willis could hold out. That, in sales speak, is a threat. That's crap, buddy. It is classless crap. 2. The ravens paid willis like a top-5 back. You have yet to argue that willis is a top 5 back. He's not by any measure. A Top-5 back should carry his team. Willis NEVER did that. A top-5 back should make the Pro bowl. Willis isn't even in the same category as a pro-bowl back by any measure. 3. "We shall see" is not a valid point. Facts are that Willis is an average back - by any measure. 4. I'm not being sensitive. I just had the smarts not to buy a Willis jersey. 5. Dockery is an OFFENSIVE LINEMAN. Willis is a RUNNING BACK. It's great in theory to compare contracts between positions, but in actuality it is stupid. Not only that - you complain that willis ran behind a bad O-line, but suggest that dockery's contract wasn't worth it? Oh, the irony! 6.Willis did NOT sign a reasonable contract. His contract is for WAY MORE than willis is worth. As an average back - and willis is AVERAGE - he should be paid somewhere just north of the vet minimum. That is what I would call reasonable for an average back. I've yet to see a compelling argument giving evidence supported by facts that willis is anything more than average. 7. Willis played injured. That's great. That's an expectation for the "best back in the nfl", not a superhuman feat. I would expect any great back to play hurt. 8. Willis didn't rush for 1000 yards, the measuring stick for an average back. He hardly cracked the 100 mark at all during games. He very rarely got yards on his own. Thus, he's an average back.

If you're going to say "we shall see", talk the talk yourself. You seem to have an opinion formed, although it isn't supported by facts. Here's a few facts for you. If you call this badmouthing, so be it: 1. Willis didn't have a 4.0 YPC average. 2. Willis didn't rush for 1000 yards. 3. Willis didn't know the playbook. 4. Willis threatened to hold out - according to marv. 5. Willis forgot it was 4th down. He thought it was 3rd, costing buffalo the game. Given these facts, how the hell can you say willis was too valuable to trade? How the hell can you say he's worth the top-5 RB money he got. You might want to support your point before you argue it more. "We shall see" is a smug and stupid argument. Try to do better.
-
I think the point is that Buffalo determined that Willis isn't worth that kind of $$. A guy who doesn't know the playbook on opening day isn't worth top 5 RB money - and that's what willis got. That is far from reasonable for an average RB, and that's what willis is. I think you'll find it difficult to argue that willis is worth that money. He's not. Period. End of question. I think the ravens will need to justify spending all those picks AND the money. This was a fantastic trade for an average and overrated player.
