  1. Thanks. I had a thought. What do I know? But I had a thought. McDermott is very system and process oriented as we know. In line with that, the Bills have built more and more of a cocoon around the players. Less interaction with the fans and more focus and control being the object. If you view it as a process it makes perfect sense. More time focused on learning and practicing and efficiency. Camp is an easy example. It is a hindrance to go to and from Fisher. The facilities are less state of the art for quick viewing and analysis of film etc. They have to go because Kim Pegula makes them go. But they cut the time span in half. They cut back on autograph time etc because they have work to do. They move to fields out of fans' in the grandstands view as needed, which was needed quite a bit And they do little to none of the "show - off" kind of practicing that was done in the past. Pre-McD, they would have some showy simulated game-ish types of practices under the lights at night. With fan packed grandstands with plenty of "oohs" and "ahhs" So they cut out all that. And again it makes very good sense from an industrial productivity kind of process viewpoint. But they also lose part of the player experience. Players would look over at the packed granstands full of cheering or sometimes jeering fans, and think "These people are crazy. This is a practice. We are practicing out here" They don't meet the fans. They don't get to know us. Not really. Not like when you see that the 80 year old lady with her oxygen tank is in the stands again today. To watch you practice. Who knows? I'm just guessing. But when I see the team playing listlessly, I wonder if it's because they haven't connected with the fans. And when Vontae Davis asks himself, "Why am I doing this?" and he doesn't know, and then gets in his car leaves, I wonder if it's because he hasn't connected with the fans.
  2. Thanks Shaw. Good write up as I am accustomed to. I learn about what happened from your posts. I'm barely watching the games because I don't want to spend 3 hours watching that. But when I have been looking at the TV I am not seeing much enthusiasm from the players some or even most of the time.
  3. Well my remark was more about his business sense. I am not yet sure what kind of football mind he has. However if you read up on him, he has a football focused background. To the degree he used to have players as roommates. So who kniows how good he is at that part but he has had ample opportunity to learn plus he really likes it. And this is unfair but without checking I think it is safe to say that bowl head haircut looking doofus has been outdoing whatever crop of geniuses we bring in since he got control of the team.
  4. I think Mark Davis just made the best relocation move in the history of the league. The Las Vegas location is a gigantic opportunity for corporate sponsorship. Every hotel has to have a suite and every hotel's suite will have to be better than the other ones. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. He will make a vast fortune from that new stadium and he got Vegas to pretty much pay him to do it. That haircut is camouflage. Mark Davis is smart. You heard it here first!
  5. Jesus loves me this I know, Vontae Davis told me so ☺️ He quit in the middle of the game. I never heard of that before. Best thing that happened to me in a month. God I enjoyed that. We dem boyz Hol up, hol up
  6. This would be more convincing if it was written 20 years ago I mean we are getting into loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong term here by now!
  7. Who tanks the year AFTER they select a QB? And, did the openness with the Pegulas include that the players aren't coached well enough to understand what they are doing? Low talent is one thing. But they look a bit lost.
  8. Find Levi Brown and get him the heck up here! Actually now I think about it, my first move would be to take OJ Simpson down off the wall. Before I even got my parking space, my employee ID, found out where the bathroom is, anything. I would get the crew going on taking that down.
  9. Maybe it is Castillo. It would be unusual though for a position coach to downplay his own needs. Could happen. My trouble is that this issue is the one I hate the most. Teams are lucky to get a decent draft QB every 10 years. In our case Josh Allen is the best prospect we have had since Jim Kelly was drafted 35 years ago. 35 years ago And it cost us the #12 1st round pick and two seconds. So lets skimp on the line. Because ooh look at the linebacker we can get. Oh yeah there's a defensive lineman! And ooh a cornerback! It's ok to do things that look extremely stupid *if* it turns out not to have been stupid. But if they do something that looks moronic going in, and it turns out to be moronic, there is no excuse. If this line is as bad as they look, and Josh Allen doesn't turn out, we will never know if he could have been a winner. I am hoping they don't keep looking like the worst line in football. Because if they do, I will have to stop watching so I don't develop a mental issue of my own!
  10. This will be a developmental year. Josh Allen will develop mental issues from being hit so much. Josh Allen will develop orthopedic skeletal injuries. Scientists will still be able to see them they look at his skeleton 200 years from now Remember Jim Kelly in the Superbowl years? Remember how he couldn't run? He hobbled. That made him less effective and that might have made the difference in at least one Superbowl. If he had been able to be even a little bit mobile. I am upset. 2018 was a draft with lots of good offensive linemen and we didn't get anyone til the 5th. McDermott didn't have the discipline to skip his defensive sugar candy and eat the offensive linemen broccoli instead. The Oline comes first because it carries over into everything about quarterback development in a way no other position does They really screwed up. And it is even worse of a screw up if this turns out to be nothing more than a developmental year.
  11. I see the defensive draft as having been McDermott's doing
  12. CNN)NFL fans will see history made this season, and it has nothing to do with what goes on between the goalposts. The Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints will have male cheerleaders dancing on their squads for the first time. Dancers Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies have been preparing for the NFL season since they made the Rams cheerleading squad in March. Well, Bills fans here don't care for the Jills. Maybe you will enjoy the Phils more? ? https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/06/us/nfl-male-dancers-trnd/index.html?utm_content=2018-08-06T18%3A23%3A01&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twCNN&utm_term=image
  13. I feel like he would make a hideously ugly school girl in pig tails. It is a really disturbing image. ?
  14. billy "white shoes" johnson - because that is what pooped into my head the moment I read the thread title. He last played 30 years ago but it was still the first one that popped up in my head. So it was catchy enough to stick that long, for me it is the best.
  15. I think the Buffalo News did not have Opinion writers. I think they had "I am Righters". That is what bugged me about 3 of them who are no longer there. When it is impossible, flat out impossible to always be right about a football team, they always were pretty insistent that they were always right. There is another thing about TBN and Bills sports reporting that is disappointing to me. There are 53 players and 10 practice squad guys. You got I don't know how many coaches, and most are "personalities". It is this giant, crazy, traveling circus full of all kinda personalities. But nothing funny ever seems to happen? No interesting fun anecdotes? I bet it is crazy behind the curtain but we learn none of it. The stuff in the news nearly always reads like the same bland pap put out by the teams themselves. When I ask myself, of all of the players, coaches, support staff, lawyers, secretaries, salespeople, tech people, etc, who work for the Bills, I wonder how many have an interesting story to tell? My answer is, I think every one of them does. It is a gold mine. Given the same access the press gets, Shaw could run rings around them all. I think a number of people on this board could. So, Mr SDS and the powers that be, aren't you press? It seems to me you are. Has it ever been asked if TBD can get a press credential?
  16. I think it would work. I think we should do it ourselves though. The Bills would make it too bland. We could sell them a booth. And we have to figure out what time of year is best for it. We would also need somebody with some cash to front it until the profits rolled in. I would, except that I lost all of my nest egg by investing in Meadcoin.
  17. Ok. It has been a while since we were in the playoffs. I remembered it wrong.
  18. Well, the wild card game is actually not the playoffs. It is a game for two teams to try and get into the playoffs. The teams that have that week off are playoff teams. Team that play in the wild card are not in the playoffs until they win the wild card game I will show myself out.
  19. Some graphic but good advice. Whatever you do, if you have the ability, eat before the game such that you do not have to use a sit down toilet for the entire time you are at the stadium before and during the game. Then again I go sober, so if you are blind drunk you may not notice the filth.
  20. And I should add, no thanks necessary to any of the 5 or so posters who gave your straight answers to your question Virgil.
  21. Yes I am sure it is probably someone else's fault. He was an NFL player after all. Those guys are all great. Just watch the commercials and videos. Bunch O' heroes Not a skill exactly but I always remember this story. Ken Griffy Junior tells the story that he signed his first major league contract. he proudly showed his mother the enormous signing bonus check. She took it from him. ? Right out of his hand. She knew he was a kid still. So one skill might be having good parents and being a good kid so that when mom snatches your check from you to save it for you, you let her. The article doesn't say he lived in a mobile home park. It says he was involved in crimes at a mobile home park.
