Big Badazz Beane on Pat McAfee today

Maybe Mahomes always outperforms Josh because he's playing against the weaker defense in the game.- 176 replies

I like to see this just because it reminds me of all the classic Dolphins roster blunders of the past 3 years.- 35 replies

Interesting they didnt include him.

Interesting points they just made on the J&J show. Out of ALL the positions that Beane has neglected in the draft over his tenure, WR isnt the top. It is actually DT. Before this draft Beane had spent exactly TWO picks on DT (Oliver and Carter), and the position has been an issue for us for the last 8 years, going back to Star and then the rotating door of scrap heap FAs we bring in. Good to see both sides are working towards understanding each other.

So... lot of chatter about WHY she doesnt want to talk about how they met, with the prevailing theory being they were linked through a "service". Most likely a companion/sugar baby service, not necessarily a hooker service (although thats where that leads, right?). But those services are very popular in places like Miami, NYC, etc. Makes sense because I never bought that "we sat next to each other on a plane and fell in love" story.

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
DrDawkinstein replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
We're at peak offseason too. -
TSW Mock 1.0 - We picked a CB, DT, Safety first 3 picks/rounds TSW Mock 2.0 - We picked a DT, another DT, and then traded out of our last pick in rd 2 TSW Mock 3.0 - We traded up in the 1st round for... DT So not much support for the WR Train or Jeremy/Joe's view point from the board either. Probably because most of us knew the same thing Beane knew. It wasnt a good draft for WRs even if we wanted one. WGR's "Pick a WR, any WR" isnt a good way to build a team or draft.

Ehh, I've seen the media rally around their own before.
-
It was a very light accusation, hence the quotes. But bro, check the front page. Our guy has multiple threads and polls going. But I was genuinely respecting his post because I generally like @Pete even if I'm disagreeing with him or sick of his WR posts. Just like I'll put air quotes around you "white knighting" for Pete. And yeah, I'll call fans out for getting all hot and bothered and hating on our own players and staff over practically nothing.

Props for posting this even though it goes against your anti-Beane/pro-WR "crusade". I havent seen anyone in the mass media not siding with Beane on this.
-
Fair. The 2019 2nd round happened so I cant argue too much against that view. (Cody Ford over AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and Terry McLaurin) This should be posted in literally every thread on this board

He also said if there was a WR they liked there, they would have taken him in the 1st so... 🤷♂️

I think while he started off "salty", he was mainly making a joke about the 2018/Josh Rosen stuff, and was expecting Jeremy and Joe to take it and laugh and keep it light. Instead, they got just as weird and defensive and awkward as Beane, and then it just kept that tone. I think if he pops off to start like that on McAfee, where he is on camera, and where the show cast keeps it lighter and laughing, it goes a totally different way. Or maybe Beane was ready to drive over to WGR and kick some teeth down throats. Who knows?!
-
That was the joke of the weekend. TJ Sanders got drafted before Shedeur Sanders.
-
They werent talking about TJ SANDERS at all before that anyways. Nothing to lose.
-
He gave it 20 seconds at the end of his show and took Beane's side completely. And also saw it like I did which was Beane being comfortable to dish it back since he has a good relationship with the WGR guys. 2hr50min exact mark (2:50:00) if my time URL doesnt work

Wrt this last paragraph, maybe it's me, maybe I'm naive, I just dont seem to "overreact" to things the way a lot of folks do online. I didnt think Cooks handful of small posts that were mostly emoji reactions to Barkley's new contract were this huge deal that has "fans" calling for him to be traded or taught a lesson. Nor do I think Beane feels that way either. I dont see Beane's segment as this big blow-up argument that has fans calling him unprofessional or accusing him of losing his cool. He was definitely frustrated hearing the commentary that lead up to his segment, but from what I've seen from Beane, it seemed more like he was busting chops and explaining how things work in his real world of actually running and building a team. Could he have taken a more "gm-speak", politically correct approach? Probably. Would it matter? I dont think so Would fans be even more upset at him blowing off the issue had he gave some BS PC answer? Most likely. I'm just happy we have a GM who is willing to be so real in interviews. With both the good and the bad.
-
Coaching is definitely an issue, but that is barely one step away from trying to change ownership at this point. It isnt changing any time soon, so gotta try to do the best to work around that.
-
Fair enough. Tho I'll disagree that he wishes he had that back. He didnt even say anything out of line. He was just his normal, open, honest self and got in some good burns on a couple of non-professionals. He'll be back on their show and they'll all be buddies.
-
Exactly. Of course he knows that. But that doesnt mean he can just make all-pro WRs appear out of thin air. If they decide to sign somewhere else in FA, or the prospects we like get drafted before our pick. He also has an entire team to build. Not just the WR room.
-
Beane never said the WR room couldnt improve. He literally said they'd like to have all-pros at every position, but that just isnt possible. He called out the radio guys on their bad takes where they spent an entire hour of supposed "post draft coverage" to complain about not drafting a WR instead of discussing any of the guys we did draft.
-
Hypothetically, that's not what happens, and that didnt happen. Hypothetically. Coordinators and coaches dont grind tape on college guys and tell the GM who to draft. Scouts do. And those scouts get paid the same whether the team picks any of their guys or not. That's the role they signed up for and know going into it. They might bring in a coordinator to advise on "which player of these 2 or 3 would you prefer to have", and take that as a PIECE of data that goes into their draft board. But Brady hasnt wasted any time looking at WRs this offseason.
-
Probably not heated arguments when Beane already said there were WRs they liked but they were off the board by the time the Bills picked.
