McDermott and Beane interviews from the Scouting Combine
DrDawkinstein replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fair enough, thanks for the numbers. Agreed that with the way we spread the ball out and around, we can never have enough WRs. Especially as injuries pop up. I'm just considering the difference in contributions between a #4 WR option vs starting CB. I'm all for drafting O. It has definitely been neglected. But I dont want to force things, "just because". I'll be shocked if Dean is still there at #25. -

Diggs, Davis, Knox are/will be Josh's top-3, trusted targets. Do we spend a 1st round pick on a guy who is our 4th option (at best)? Or a CB who can start right away, play every down, and contribute immediately? (I agree on G/C, but outside of Linderbaum, I don't think there are any worth the #25 pick) I appreciate the list and actual answer. Thanks! Same question for you as above. Are you taking balls away from Davis and Knox? Is it worth spending #25 on a guy who will be 4th or 5th option? -

Outside of Linderbaum, what O players or positions would you want to see at #25? -
What is the BEST pick you would trade for Saquon Barkley?
DrDawkinstein replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was going to say a 3rd, but then saw he's set to make $7.2M with only 1 year left, so that puts me at a 5th or 6th round at best. -
Walter Football Mock with the Hot Take on our MLB
DrDawkinstein replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall
You are delusional if you think we re-sign Edmunds at $8-9M/year. If we could do that, then all these threads are unnecessary because even though he has been disappointing, I think everyone could agree that they'd be happy to have him at $8M/year. Hell, that's about what Klein makes. Edmunds will be in the $13-15M range. We are paying him $12.5M this year. -

I realize that is the likely way Beane handles it in reality, yes. But I wasnt trying to predict the future. I was addressing the question of "If we trade/cut Edmunds, who can replace him?" being asked as if it's impossible to find another guy to play MLB. We have a guy who can play MLB on the roster right now and he makes half as much as Edmunds. Is it the BEST solution EVER? No, but it's a solution, and I believe a fairly reasonable one for the reasons I listed. -

McDermott and Beane interviews from the Scouting Combine
DrDawkinstein replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I tend to be one of those posters. Mostly because: 1. I think Dane Jackson can take the #2 spot 2. McBeane have proven they can find and develop decent DBs in the mid/later rounds. 3. I'd rather draft from the inside-out. OL and DL early. But given the way most mocks are falling (for whatever that's worth), I dont expect guys like Linderbaum, Davis, or Dean to be available at #25. So if the value/BPA is CB, then so be it. -

Chiefs made the same proposal in 2019 after OT blew up in their face. Buncha losers tho, right? A lot of teams are pushing for OT changes. Not just the Bills.- 86 replies

Welp, 1st Round CB it is then! Once Beane says stuff like this, you can pretty much count on it. -
No hotels, no Ubers, no bars, no restaurants. Just a giant PITA to get to/from unless you want to be camped out all day, or drive drunk. But we're getting natural grass, so we at least have that going for us. Makes no sense to put anything else there since it they'll only get 10-12 days of business. Which is why it doesnt make sense to put the stadium there either. But oh well. Buffalo gonna Buffalo. The grass is the part that makes the most sense!

His coaches ask him to be slow to react and then overreact? His coaches ask him to get caught in the wash and not fight through (or avoid) blocks? His coaches ask him to take horrible angles and overpersue? His coaches ask him to bounce off of RBs without even slowing them down? His coaches ask him to not make any plays in the passing game, but just be out there? His coaches ask him to get burned by the guys he does have to cover in man? Cmon. And the whole "He's part of a top-3 Defense" is the same but opposite argument folks used to make here to not re-sign our best players "Well, it's not like we've won a Super Bowl with Lynch/Greer/Peters/Clements/etc". Not a good reason when it's a team sport. I think we could do better at his position for less money than he'll command. If he'll take Milano Money ($10-11M/year) then sure, bring him back for a few years I guess. But when his 5th year option is already $12.5M, I doubt he's taking anything less long term. -

Klein for this year. He did fine when he stepped in for Edmunds for a couple games last year, and even immediately made some plays in his limited time, which Edmunds rarely does. Plus, Klein is set to make half of what we'll have to pay Edmunds. Then draft a replacement. -

Glad to see this was the first post. Exactly where I am at as well. I wont (cant) watch the Four Falls of Buffalo documentary until after a SB win either. -
Todays Take on Generational Money Where is That Line ?
DrDawkinstein replied to T master's topic in Off the Wall
$10M after taxes. How you got it is irrelevant for this hypothetical. The question is what could someone expect to make off it a year without draining the principal? Is a 4% draw reasonable? -

If you only earn $82,000 a year on a $10M principal, you dont deserve to have that money. Should easily be able to draw 3-4%/year, which is $300k-400k, and STILL have growth on the principal. So $10M is generational if you play it right. I know this because I've already planned on $10M being my "eff you" point if I ever hit the lottery or on crypto or whatever. Could do alright on $5M, but it would be close. Anything more than $10M is just gravy. Maybe ask @Chef Jim for advice. -
A decade into his career, and well after he spent this first few years of his career telling everyone he was from Pittsburgh since that is where he finished HS. Never once corrected the media to say he's actually from Buffalo. Even all those times before he played the Bills twice a year. Eff Gronk. Good for him for all the success in his career and the money he has made, sincerely. But as a Bills fan, and Buffalonian, eff him.
