Donte Whitner 'drafted into the wrong system' and 'a bad s
Meathead replied to Meathead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
my real name is walter cleaver and id like to sock you one for that comment whitner made a lot of tackles and was a hard hitter. and though he wasnt super at coverage he also made more than his share of plays in the passing game you and others only remember his bouncing off carriers bc its been repeated ad nausem by bills fans who ran him out of town. a large percentage of fans simply must target a scapegoat when a team underperforms and that guy was whitner for that season. if it wasnt for the poor treatment he received here he would probably have stayed again, hes a very good not great player and i wish he was still here -

would any safety? -
NEW ORLEANS -- Donte Whitner is one game away from comprehensive vindication. The Buffalo Bills' polarizing 2006 first-round draft pick was voted to his first Pro Bowl and will win a world championship Sunday if the San Francisco 49ers beat the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII. Whitner claimed he's the same player he was with Buffalo. "I think sometimes players just get drafted into the wrong system and come into a bad situation," Whitner said, "and there's really nothing you can do about it except go out and work hard, let everybody talk and let the chips fall where they may." Whitner left Buffalo with five interceptions, 19 breakups, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one recovery in 69 games. In 31 regular-season games for San Francisco he has three interceptions, 15 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and four recoveries. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/01/donte-whitner-drafted-into-the-wrong-system-and-a-bad-situation.html always thought he was a good player. wish he was still here

Can we just go back to red helmets already.
Meathead replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah if it were my choice i would go with the blue helmet after thats its a virtual tie with the red or white helmet with me. i like them both, the red because its more unique and the white bc its a cleaner more classic look. im just glad we got rid of those stupid red stripes on the sides of the previous jersey -

How would Fitzpatrick play outside of Buffalo?
Meathead replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think this is about right. perhaps id throw a little bit of the '08 chad pennington in there in that defenses dont worry about his long ball so it shortens the field but as long as hes reading defenses well and gets the ball out the team could be playoff (though not sb) caliber as ive said all along, fitz is barely good enough to make the playoffs on a good team. i used to think he might even elevate his game to borderline franchise material with david lee behind him, but i think that ship has sailed. still, hes the best option the bills have and most likely they will stick with him until they feel their new draft pick is ready like it or not, official Meathead the Geek® odds on fitz are as follows: 62.2% - begins next season as the starter 30.3% - outside veteran is added and starts 7.5% - rookie draft pick starts -
lmao ouuuuch

totally agree they started with changing the rules on defensive backs only being able to initiate contact within the first five yards, then they added all the rules that prevented the qb from taking hard hits. so they made the game safer for qbs which i think is fine, but they should have dialed back the rules on the dbs to compensate. but since most casual fans prefer scoring, and that has made the nfl more popular than ever, they arent about to change it now frankly i honestly thing it has ruined the game. now the entire focus of every team pretty much has to be to get a really good qb or else your chances at a title plummet dramatically. no sport should be single-position centric, and todays nfl is about as qb centric as you can get. defense doesnt win championships anymore, at least not with any regularity. its almost always about the qb above everything else if it makes me a sour old codger to prefer a good TEAM could win more often over a good QB then pass me the ensure and depends

well i wasnt really commenting on the op, i was just commenting on the theme that had developed just before my post but still, link only posting is a message board scourge that should be avoided at all costs, regardless of how descriptive the title is. at least invest the four seconds it takes to cut and paste a blurb even if you dont want to provide any personal commentary

Bill Polian Ruined my Day!
Meathead replied to auburnbillsbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
id have to agree with battlin bill, though the bills still have to take a qb high. as we see every year, each pick is a crapshoot and rookies over and under perform their draft status as often as casey anthony gets away with crimes -
