The best free agent deals are never done on day 1. But, I guarendamntee you that if a high profile/ high cost player Beane covets is available for a reasonable amount, more "spendable money" will magically appear.

I disagree here. Kelce always gets open. He makes big plays. That is why KC can run with no "WR1b and a handful of solid WRs". Kelce fills the role of WR1 or WR1b. The Bills do not get anywhere near the level of play from their TEs to come close to Kelce. I'm not knocking Knox as i think he has developed into a good player, but he isn't near Kelce's level. The Bills have had Diggs and a "handful of solid WRs" during Diggs time here, and we haven't got to the promised land yet.

Some of the jobs at UB are NY state civil service jobs, and some other jobs are funded by grants/endowments or even alumni money. If the state consolidates departments or a specific department's grant/endowment/alumni money runs out some people unfortunately get laid off. Sure doesn't mean the school has money problems.

McDermott is a good coach. He realistically has a chance to be the best coach in Bills history. He broke the playoff drought in his first season when everyone was expecting a tank job. He was prepared for a step back the next year with a rookie qb that wasn't expected to play so early in his career. Following the growing pains of a qb that alot of people here (and in the media) distained, the training wheels were officially off and the Bills have been LEGITIMATE contenders ever since. And we're still doing these silly polls about if McDermott is doing a good job, or if he needs new coordinators, or if he and/or Beane should be on the hot seat or fired. GTFO with all that crap. After the 17 years of mediocrity, we hit big with a first time head coach, a first time GM, and not just a franchise qb, but quite possibly the best Bills QB ever. Stop being fickle. The good times are rolling again, and people don't let themselves enjoy it.
