With the 29th pick, The Detroit Lions select Troy Fautanu, G/T, Washington

Ready-made brawler without an ounce of finesse in his game. Fautanu has starting experience at tackle and guard and is well-coached.

“He comes from a good program and he’s a really hard-nosed player who can take coaching. Love the makeup.”- NFC national scout

@Allen2Moulds and the Ravens are on the clock.

Rich get richer. Detroit is in a good place as an organization. They have staying power.

Goff has emerged as a top QB too.

With the 24th pick the Dallas Cowboys select Jackson Powers-Johnson, Center, Oregon.

We are happy to have our guy still on the board. Powers-Johnson is a fierce competitor with a salty disposition. He doesn’t seem to have many issues in pass protection, as he works with clear eyes, a wide base.

The Green Bay Packers @Virgil are on the clock.

If Arnold wasn't available for the Iggles at 22, JPJ was under serious consideration.

Sit on my living room couch and quietly watch it by myself. My wife will be watching her shows (Grey's Anatomy, The Masked Singer, The Golden Girls, Sex And The City, whatever) in the bedroom, my kids will be watching whatever or playing video games with their friends online in their rooms, and I veg in front of the TV for once.

Ditto - my wife will be in our bedroom watching her shows.

I'll be in my recliner sipping some Black Barrel Jameson. DInner will be some blackened swordfish and a couple sides. Texting vigorously with my brother trying to predict the next selection.

Honestly, one of my favorite sports events of the year. Rinse and repeat Friday night. Probably order some pizza and wings Friday. Beer instead of Jameson. Maybe some Harpoon's.

  4. With the 22nd pick in the draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

It was difficult maintaining patience. CB was a clear need and the best 2 were dropping. @GunnerBill had the wherewithal and foresight to jump up and grab the top CB prize in our eyes.

    that said…..

I pulled a hammy running to podium to make this selection. Did you see the secondary play last year? Yeah, nuff said. Arnold’s change of direction, speed and athleticism make him a no-brainer, plug and play addition. We look forward to Terrion blanketing the oppositions top wideouts for years to come.

@H2o and The Minnesota Vikings are now on the clock

With the 12th pick the Chicago Bears select Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA. Las Vegas @NewEra is on the clock.

It was down to Latu or Murphy for us at #9, so we are elated to come away with a 3rd and a 4th round pick, and still get one of our top choices.

Latu fits a clear need. Trading for Montez Sweat has turned out great but we have no one to write home about on the other side. The only concern with Latu is medicals but recent reports are that he has been cleared, so we are more than comfortable taking him here.

Latu has an extremely advanced repertoire of pass rush moves. He has a TJ Watt ceiling and is ready to start from day one. Our defense suddenly looks scary and we are ready to compete for the NFC North title.

Chicago does well in round 1!! They'd be thrilled with these selections AND the added draft capital.

Bonus: Latu at almost a full 4 years older, should be a good mentor to Edmunds.

With the 13th pick, the Las Vegas Raiders select Michael Penix, QB, Washington.

draft the best QB available until you have your QB.  Minshew is a perfect bridge and could be valuable trade bait once QBs start going down.

Would’ve liked to trade back a few and snag him but for the sake of everyone’s time, I’ll make the pick now.

    @qwksilver is on the clock

Love this pick right here.  Get your guy. Finally, the Raiders have hope.

With the 11th pick, in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select....... Byron Murphy II, Defensive Tackle, Texas.

After Daniels was off the board at #3, there was no QB worth trading up for in our eyes. The defense, however, does need some work as well. We take whom we feel is the best DT in this draft. A guy who will slot in as a 5-Tech in base sets, and a 3-Tech when we go into our 4 man fronts. He gets after it on the interior, having had 6 sacks and generating 36 pressures this past season. He is also stout against the run. A true 3-down interior defender. Brian Flores rejoices.

Side note: Been so busy at work today I missed my chance at trading up for Daniels, who was my guy. C'est last vie.

@HappyDays and the Bears are on the clock.

You're the Vikings. Just be glad you made it to the podium.......in time.

I'd argue this was the easier pick outside of Williams #1 overall.  The Jets have not been subtle about who they want

Almost seems like a lock. They'd do well to stay put and take this kid....which will eventually drive us crazy.

    ***Trade Alert***

The Chicago Bears have traded the 9th pick in the 2024 NFL.

    Commanders receive:

    #9 (1350)

    Bears receive:

    #12 (1200)

    #100 (100)

    #121 (52)

with the 9th pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Washington Commanders select J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan.

the Commanders feel great trading back, picking up extra picks this year and next while still getting one of the QBs they eyed all along. Like we announced earlier, we are more than just a QB away from contending, this gives us our guy as well as the extra picks to surround him with players that can make a difference. I knew I may need to trade back up to sneak ahead of Min or LV to get our guy. We’re completely fine with giving up some later round picks here.

fwiw, I liked Maye, and Daniels more, and would have taken them at 2 but I didn’t love either of them so much that I didn’t feel good about getting McCarthy, AND the extra picks

@TPS and the NYJ are on the clock.

I don't see any scenario the Commanders trade out of this pick. But for this exercise, I get it. Though I would have taken Penix instead of McCarthy.

Beauty is in the eye of the evaluator....

Picks galore. It would've been fun to see this draft play out.

With the 7th pick of the 2024 TSW draft, the Tennessee Titans select:  Joe Alt, OT, ND.

The most boring pick ever and the football equivalent of broccoli.  Should help us realize that even behind great blocking and decent WR weapons that Levis is not the answer.

The Atlanta Falcons @CNYfan are on the clock.

Broccoli is good for you and everyone should have some.

I will be waiting until 12 tomorrow gathering my trade offers at this point. Unless someone comes at me with an offer too good to be turned down. So far the offered I’ve received don’t even cover the draft pick trade charts. At least be close with your offers people.

    You'll be making this pick.

I would have taken him as a backup over Trubisky.

Saw flashes him in (backup flashes - not starter).

I would too. I think there’s something there for the right coach/situation.

I saw an article recently about Worthy that claimed the chances are slim that he turns out like John Ross.  He supposedly is a very good route runner with a lot of experience running various routes.  Plus, you can’t coach speed.

The main drawback of him seems to be his small, skinny frame.  The best way to combat press coverage is to play a WR in the slot and/or have him on the move.  We seem to already have a number of guys to play the slot in Samuel, Shakir and Isabella.  They need a big guy.

I hear you. Worthy doesn’t have to be one of the two. I’d be game for several different combos.

I really don't have any interest in getting into a back-and-forth with anyone about this person's reliability. They've been right more often than they've been wrong in the past, and have been the first to break a few signings over the years. I believe they have a source on the medical side of things on the Bills staff. Believe it if you want, or don't. Me? I believe it.

He also claims they really liked and did a ton of work on Addison and JSN last year. The Bills have a "type" at WR, and the interest reported last year and below point to that type.

**Also of note, particularly as it relates to McConkey: Doing a bunch of medical checks on a guy doesn't NECESSARILY mean they like that player. But then, why go through the effort of doing those multiple checks if they don't have at least a reasonable amount of interest in him?

I like the Mitchell pick to the Bills, at least he hasn't shrunk two inches like Franklin and Legette.

I see a lot of people that want Newton @28 but the Bills are already paying Oliver as the 3tech and drafting another 3tech in the first to play maybe 1/3 of snaps probably isn't the best idea. I think Newton will be long gone before #28 anyways.

I agree, he’ll be loooong gone.

If somehow he dropped and we took him, he’d play more than 1/3 the time.

I'm leaning more and more to the idea that,  if the Bills keep pick 28,  it will be McConkey.  Just in terms of pre-draft visits the last few years,  they seem to have a significant preference for these types of speed/quickness/route-running types early and less apparent concern for height/weight.  Ignoring the top 3 that they have no shot at,  McConkey seems like the best overall of that sub-group,  IMO,  and I think I've about settled on him as WR 5 in this draft.

If they can add both him and Legette,  I'd definitely be happy.  I'm just not sure how.  I think we're more likely looking at McConkey OR Legette at 28 and maybe whatever is left at 60 or one of the better mid-round prospects in a trade into R3.

I’m hoping it’s that honky McConkey.

I've had this feeling about the Giants and a Quarterback for a while. But equally if you are sitting there at #6 and you have a specific receiver preference why not let it be known that you are looking at QBs to try and encourage Minnesota or Denver or the Raiders to trade up ahead of you into #4 or #5 which takes a potential wide receiver team out of your way and increases the chances your guy gets to #6.

    Schoen ain’t no Beane.
