  1. With the 48th pick in the draft, the Houston Texans select Ennis Rakestraw Jr., DB, Missouri

@frostbitmic and the Bengals are on the clock.

The Texans were close to pulling the trigger on Rakestraw Jr. with their earlier pick in this round but decided on Fiske instead. Seeing him on the board at this point made perfect sense to jump up....and we're glad we did. Ennis will be put on the fast track and be expected to contribute straight away. The duo of Rakestraw Jr. and Derek Stingley Jr. in the defensive backfield should conjure up thoughts of another fine pairing.....a bottle of Chianti and a bowl of fava beans.

With the 43rd pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Arizona “Draft Crushing” Cardinals (via trade with Atlanta) select:  Chris Braswell, Edge/LB, Alabama

Having 5 picks in round 3, we are thrilled about trading 2 of them to move up to get someone with his kind of speed to power ratio and with the kind of pass rush first step that’s like a gun shot and keeps offensive lineman up at night.  Not only does he bolster our pass rush, but he brings the athleticism and fluidity to drop into coverage and run with those TE’s.  We are confident our defensive staff can continue to coach him up and develop his pass rush techniques to be able to wreak havoc at the next level.

    Draft Recap: TRADES

    #4 - Trade 4, 138, 162 for 6, 70, 107

    #27 - Trade 27 for 32 and 95

Cardinals still have a 2nd at pick 35 and now have 5 picks in the 3rd plus 2 more in the 4th to go with a couple late picks.

    #43 - We acquire 43 for picks 66 and 71.

#6 - ROME ODUNZE, WR, WASHINGTON

#32 - NATE WIGGINS, CB, CLEMSON

#35 - DARIUS ROBINSON, DT, MISSOURI
    #43 - CHRIS BRASWELL, LB/EDGE ALABAMA

If we were done here, this would be an A+++...but we are still sitting on three 3rd round picks and 2 more in the 4th to bolster more of our offense as well, such as another WR, IOL or RB.   Who knows, maybe we see each other again before the rounds over ;)

@CNYfanand the Las Vegas Raiders are now on the clock.

A good looking draft to be sure.

CAUTION: These are the Cardinals. Something, somewhere, somehow isn't as it appears.

    j/k

  3. With the 42 pick of the 2024 draft, The Houston Texans select Braden Fiske DT, Florida St.

The Texans are preparing for a run at AFC supremacy this season and beyond. The offense is legit good. Not a weakness to be found. Playing with a lead should probably be the norm. On the defensive side,  Demeco Ryan has made it clear that getting after the QB is a priority and the addition of D. Hunter playing opposite Will Anderson, Jr. should make for sleepless nights for opposing D coordinators. Fiske provides explosiveness off the snap and his ability to penetrate the backfield will prove worthy of this pick. Opposing defenses are going to double down on the edges leaving Fiske with to deal with a single blocker. Look for the Texans to be among the league leaders is getting to the QB.

More defensive help likely coming with another 2nd round selection forthcoming........or maybe not?

@Might Rather and the Atlanta Falcons are on the clock.

    You think he can’t

others think he can more then an old vet or late round pick

he is our 4th CB right now and our backup outside CB I think is better then other options

Differing opinion is all. I'll gladly move on from him.

But he’s not an unrosterable guy. What losses are you cutting? Doesn’t look like he’s a starter but he’s fine for depth. I would much rather have him in the game than Cam Lewis

Understood. But why limit yourself to those choices. Get someone who will actually contribute. I've seen enough from him.

But what are you getting for him? Don’t trade him just to get anything, that’s ludicrous. He’s on a rookie deal at a position of need-that being said he was on the bench, he was inactive, and he was on IR last year…so what could they possibly get for him? His trade value has never been lower and will never be lower

So this justifies him taking a roster spot? Time to cut yoUr losses and move on. We made one mistake picking him. Let's not compound it by keeping him.

Put him at free safety and have him play deep, like in the 2nd or 3rd row seats.

Or, in your case, murderers row. ;)

The first time this guy gets off the bench last year, in a playoff game, he picks off a pass. Huge play. And people want to give up on him? How about we get some good coaching and coach him up?

He came off the bench.  He's a first rounder. You call out one play he made and you say coach him up.

He doesn't fit here. I think he something to offer, just not here.

I don’t disagree. I’ve been on team, “trade way up for top 3” for a little while. I want a second guy as well (and maybe a 3rd).

If the Bills do plan on waiting until 28 (which I don’t believe) then I think you have to get 2 guys before 60. The need for them to get roughly 200 targets from guys not yet on the roster, keeps bumping McConkey up to me. He can handle 100 targets tomorrow with his skill set, route running and SEC experience. You can then turn around and try to come up for Legette (my choice). I don’t think that the Bills can count on a raw toolsy prospect as their top pick without pairing that with a more dependable skill set to complement him.

Yessir - I'm crushing on Ladd right about now. Draft and play WR. Josh would have his most reliable WR since........he who shall not be mentioned.

Then, go get Leggette, Troy or Tez.

I am really coming around to McConkey.  Allen often talks about how so much of his game is based on being on the same page with his receiver, almost by feel as opposed to rigid timing and routes.  Of all the prospects, I can picture Allen maximizing that with McConkey compared to the others.

Me too. I voted for the Ladd. He’s gonna be a good pro - right away!

the consolation prizes aren’t far behind, if at all. Which flavor I suppose.

I did sign off on it last night, yes sir.

Made sure the values matched and submitted the offer. It was fairly late at night and I headed off to bed. Figured it wouldn't get dealt with/submitted 'til morning. Apologies for the unintentional breach of protocol. I think some wires just got crossed.

I will await your word as to whether I should proceed with making my pick.

Yea I hate when we have good players on the team. Let's get rid of them all so Josh can "elevate his game"
