  1. If this quote (from the article) doesn't fill one with civic pride, what would? "Buffalo presents such an image of unpleasantness to the world that even its residents have come to believe that they live in sort of a condensation of all that is nasty and foul"
  2. Whats the big deal? That's how I looked BEFORE I went through puberty.
  3. First off, I am sorry you are going through this right now, in my opinion this is the only tough part of having a pet you love dearly. To try and answer your question about knowing when it's time-I really don't think there is a magical "you'll know when it's time". I had a cat as a boy that ended up living to be 19-I kept on making appointments to take him to the vet and canceling, I loved him so much, and truth be told after looking at the pictures of him that were taken around the time I had him put to sleep- I was embarrassed and ashamed I held on to him so long. I promised myself I would never do that again. A year after my cat died I got my best friend forever Nigel. He was a basenji dog who lived to be 17. He died 2 years ago this spring. Having to "put him to sleep" was the hardest decision I ever had to make. His spirit was so large and I loved him so much- but I was determined to honor his spirit and by not holding onto him too long. The best thing I ever did is to stay with him when the doctor gave him the shot. I just can't even imagine not being there with him. I mean, why say your goodbyes and walk out and leave you dog with a vet and a vet tech in his/her final moments? I wouldn't do that to other family members-why would I do it to a family member I consider to be my best friend? I held Nigel on my lap-he felt my love and support to his last breath-it is the best gift you can give, and will give you a sense of completeness.
  4. Cowboys signed DL Tim Anderson and CB Mike Hawkins to futures contracts. Anderson was undersized to play the nose in Buffalo's 4-3 and will even be a bigger misfit for Dallas' 3-4.
  5. I was really happy to see the recognition it received. It's is such an interesting, unique, beautifully shot movie. The big studios have been shoving duds like Benjamin Button down peoples throats- this recognition should get people off their butts to go see this entertaining flick which has been a bit under the radar. Danny Boyle is a genius IMHO. What an artist.
  6. You get my vote as the boards leading ass-clown with posts like this. Are you completely uneducated, immature, or do you actually believe this slop that you posted? I know the machismo(or fake machismo) thing to do is say thats my boy- but in reality this female teacher is a mentally ill pedophile and needs to be held accountable for her actions. Studies consistently show that boys who are groomed, manipulated and exploited by these mentally ill woman who are supposed to be in a position of trust DO pay a price for it emotionally(depression etc.) and have a difficult time with relationships with woman the rest of their lives. I usually avoid these discussions on message boards- but as someone who has worked with emotionally disturbed/behavioral disordered kids most of my life- the misinformation on the subject drives me crazy.
  7. the “Tampa 2” defense has lost a lot of luster in league circles as Tony Dungy’s disciples — Lovie Smith, Herm Edwards and Rod Marinelli— have all struggled running the single-gap attack that is designed to limit big plays. “Monte Kiffin is the only guy who could run that defense effectively, and he had 13 years as a coordinator (with the Buccaneers),” a veteran personnel evaluator said. “Now everyone is trying to emulate (Eagles defensive coordinator) Jim Johnson. His guys are all having success. Look at (Ravens head coach) John Harbaugh, Spags, (Vikings defensive coordinator) Leslie Frazier and 'Chico' (Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera). “If I’m an owner, that’s the pipeline I want.” Notice- no mention of Perry Fewell and the Triple A Bills. Must say I hate the cover2. I firmly believe the Bills should build a a big physical defense that other teams would hate to play in Buffalo in December and January. A defense based solely on speed is negated when the terrible weather conditions arrive.
  8. after announcing that Dick Jauron will be coaching the team next year.
  9. So the Bronos owner is willing to eat Shanahan's 8 million per year contract and Wilson can't swallow 1.5 million a year?
  10. OK, this is a softball thrown over the middle of the plate-who wants to take a swing?
  11. FROM MARK GAUGHEN OF THE BUFFALO NEWS… Buffalo Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. said Monday afternoon the team would make a decision on the future of head coach Dick Jauron on Wednesday. Wilson met in Detroit today with Russ Brandon, the Bills’ chief operating officer, Tom Modrak, the Bills’ vice president of college scouting, and Jeff Littmann, the Bills’ treasurer. “I have nothing definitive tonight to give you,” Wilson told The Buffalo News by phone from Detroit. “We had a meeting today. We’re going to have a meeting tomorrow and the next day, and then you’ll have your answer.” Mike Lombardi's response on Nationalfootballpost.com: When I read what Mark had written, it was clear that Ralph Wilson wants to shake up the staff and bring in new coaches on one side of the ball or the other. He wants to keep Jauron, but it’s clear to me that he doesn’t want to keep some coaches (losing five games in a row is tough for anyone to take). Offensive coordinator Turk Schonert, I am sure, is the main topic in these meetings. The Bills have too much talent to be 25th in the NFL on offense. More important, they have too much money invested in their offense to be this bad. The meetings are about learning what Jauron will do to shake up the staff. What is his plan to make changes and get the Bills’ offense on the right track? Normally, he is very reluctant to make any changes to the staff, but this time he has to be realistic and accept that Turk is not getting it done. However, Jauron can be stubborn and might be willing to walk the plank rather than fire some coaches. This time of year, front offices and coaching staffs have to evaluate three areas of their teams: scheme, coaching and players. Those areas will also provide the answers that lead to improvement. When I watched the Bills, I liked their talent for the most part, but I did not like their scheme and wondered at times about their offensive coaches.
  12. I plan on seeing it tomorrow. I loved two of his other flicks(Trainspotting and Millions) Trainspotting is in fact one of my all time favorites. "Brilliant gold taps, virginal white marble, a seat carved from ebony, a cistern full of chanel number five, and a flunky handing me pieces of raw silk toilet roll. But under the circumstances I'll settle for anywhere.... Anyone remember that scene from Trainspotting? LMFAO
  13. Brian Moorman- man of the year winner.
  14. Yes, he does. He lives in East Amherst.
  15. How many of the duplicate posts must we endure?
  16. LINKY included in the article is this: Wilson is also preparing to tinker with the power structure within his front office by providing Modrak a larger voice in football decisions by adding him to what the owner called, "the inner circle." Wilson said the decision is not a knock against Brandon, who is completing his first year as the Bills top day-to-day executive. Wilson foresees a small committee of executives overseeing the franchise's daily operation. "We're going to have a lot more communication between the top people," Wilson said. "One man's not going to be calling the shots."
  17. Falcons safety- Lawyer Milloy has had a Pro Bowl-caliber season. He’s very instinctive. He’s got a great knack for the ball. He’s playing great football.”
  18. Right. The other picks the Cowboys received turned out to be: 2nd round pick from the Bills the Cowboys took Julius Jones(RB) and with the 5th round pick from the Bills the Cowboys took Buffalo native Sean Ryan(TE)
  19. Slaton over LT2 is the move to make----your gut is telling you the right thing. You get zero points for LT2's past production-he is in a Shaun Alexander free fall. Slaton is an explosive, quick twitch athlete who can score from anywhere on the field-LT2 is toast.
  20. I totally agree with you. Haslett is crapola and it's tiresome to even hear his name being brought up. Don't we want excellence? Why aim so low?
  21. Despite going on a 1-7 slide that left the Buffalo Bills out of the playoffs, coach Dick Jauron signed an extension, sources told ESPN. The deal runs through the 2011 season. ESPN and the NFL Network reported on Oct. 26 that the coach had agreed to the deal. The Bills were 5-2 at that point and in contention in the AFC East. The Bills lost 31-27 to the New York Jets on Sunday, giving up the go-ahead score in the final two minutes. Jauron, 56-74 in nine seasons with the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Bills, entered this season in the final year of his initial three-year contract with Buffalo.
  22. Santonio Holmes has underperformed almost all season (though, gee, isn't he due for a monster game?) It would be hard for me to start Breaston-being a third WR and not knowing if he will get 12 targets or 2. I'd go with Kevin Walter. Houston is playing at home, where they perform much better, Walter's probably been the most productive WR no one appreciates in the NFL this season. He's not the sexy pick but he has consistently outperformed Holmes this year. Best of luck.....
  23. I'd have to stay with the hot hand/s and start Antonio Bryant. The flanker in Tampa Bay's offense always gets a ton of targets. (no matter who plays QB) Bryant is a top 15-20 WR at this point. The RB'S you offer up are a mixed bag and some might only see a handfull of carries.
