The Eagles have been a very successful franchise the past decade. It's telling that the Eagles had plenty of cap room and extra picks this year and could have obtained Braylon Edwards or Anquan Boldin with the picks they traded us---but instead targeted Peters. The Eagles feel he is worthy of 3 picks(including a first rounder) AND probably the 11 million a year he is seeking. I'd pefer to keep our most valued players and build a foundation for success rather than continually rebuilding year to year.

There are no statistics you can research that will convince these defeatists fans that it's not worthwhile to trade your best players for picks. They will never understand that Jason Peters was the Bills most valuable commodity, is signed for 2 more years and if we were a team that was aspiring to build greatness we would not consider trading him- much less for the underwhelming bounty that was received. If our franchise had direction and vision- I don't think this situation would have ever gotten to the point of no return.

Walker to LT, Bell to RT?

Can't you think of any more All-Pro Bills players you could trade to add even more players to your mock? I mean as long as your going to post a "fantasy" mock, why not really maximize your pleasure? That's how you build a winner in the NFL isn't it? Keep on trading your best players for picks every year? Trade (Peters to Philly) plus a tradedown (Detroit): 15 Buffalo Brian Cushing OLB43 USC 20 Buffalo Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St 21 Buffalo Robert Ayers DE43 Tennessee 28 Buffalo Max Unger OG Oregon 42 Buffalo Ron Brace DT43 Boston College 46 Buffalo Sean Smith FS Utah 82 Buffalo Antoine Caldwell OC Alabama 85 Buffalo Gerald McRath ILB Southern Miss 110 Buffalo Michael Hamlin SS Clemson 147 Buffalo Tyronne Green OG Auburn 183 Buffalo Kenny McKinley WRF South Carolina 220 Buffalo Brannan Southerland, FB, Georgia---Blocked for Brown at Georgia. (Props to BGiM -
Peters agent just schooled the boy GM. A player that has 2 years left on his contract(after which he can be franchised) holds the team hostage. Would this have happened to Polian? A.J. Smith, Pioli, Parcells? Peters WILL get payed and will play for a team that wins consistently. The Bills? Will save money.

I'm really worried

Why worry? Hasn't The Bills brass proven to you over and over again in the last decade that they are experts at evaluating offensive line talent? -
Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks

My belief is that an organization that is striving for greatness would have recognized Peters importance and would not have driven this car off the road. This organization's lack of leadership and vision is glaring, and will result in continued mediocity (at best) in the coming years. Hmm....maybe if they didn't make such a HUGE mistake and overvalue and overpay Dockery, the Bills could have paid Peters like the All-Pro that he is. -
All of you Anti-Peters fans can rejoice

Agreed, we might look back on those 7-9 seasons as our glory years. -

WTF???? This IS a kick in the nuts. Everyone else in the NFL seems to understand that the two building blocks to an NFL team are A QB and an LT. We have a young, All-Pro LT that we were fortunate enough to stumble upon(remember----we cut him initially) and we dump him for as 28TH Pick, a 4rth rounder and a conditional pick???? All of you draft weasels can unite at the excitement of the extra picks, I can't believe anyone who understands the game of football can think this move helps move the Bills in the direction of building a winning team. LMFAO....they didn't even give the Bills the better of their two first round picks! The "boy" GM got hosed. -
No, your not confused....at least not this time. Yesterday, SI.com’s Peter King wrote in his Monday Morning QB column that the Lions have narrowed their list down to three players: quarterback Matthew Stafford, linebacker Aaron Curry and offensive lineman Jason Smith. It seems clear that they would prefer to take Stafford, but would also prefer to have their picked signed....thus leaving open the door for Smith and Curry.

Let's not get all excited about Casserly's opinion. Mario Williams was a a very good choice, but while with the Redskins he picked Heath Shuler, Michael Westbrook and Desmond Carter in the top 5 of the first round! Each was a huge bust. Charles Davis? Come on, he's useless.

I posted the article and don't see how it any way reflects poorly on the role Brown would play with the 4-3 front Bills. I'm a big fan of Everette Brown and believe he is the most complete pass rusher in this draft. The comments about his excellent character are a bonus at a time when I think the Bills might not pay so much lip service to character...... considering recent events.

The too stiff is a reference to him playing linebacker not defensive end.

In Pro Football Weekly today: DE Everette Brown, Florida State (Jr.) Questions still remain among the NFL scouting community about whether Brown is an elite talent. Some believe he is too stiff to be projected to rush linebacker and could not be more than an open-side end in the NFL, where his stock could be adversely affected because many fronts do not feature the position. However, much like Wimbley, no one is questioning his character, as Brown receives high marks for his work ethic, maturity and citizenship. His intelligence and approach in the classroom were given such high marks that he is viewed as being more intelligent than football-smart. Brown goes the extra mile to make a difference and can be expected to be a pillar of the community for the team that drafts him. Hailing from an unruly program known for its share of run-ins with the law, Brown stands out for his exceptionally strong character, warranting several votes for having the most rare character in this draft class.

I don't remember a draft where there is such a gap between peoples perceptions of what particular players values are. I have seen Everette Brown compared to Erik Flowers on this board and IMHO nothing could be further from the truth. Brown has been extremely productive at FSU, has a wide variety of pass rush moves(anyone who claims otherwise is completely misinformed) gives a 110% and would be a great addition to the Bills defense. Browns biggest downfall is a measurable one. He was a certain top 10 pick until he measured a bit shorter than scouts expected him to be at the combine. Brown literally explodes off of the line of scrimmage, he's the type of player Bills fans have been clamoring for- for years, now that he might be staring us in the face at pick 11, he surely deserves serious consideration.

Agreed. Nice post Leonidas.McKelvin. All this foolish Josh Reed to RB talk is reminding me of the TSW brethren calling for Eric Moulds to be signed last off-season to play tight end. -

Thanks for putting an end to the Josh Reed on the backfield tomfoolery. Nothing like putting a WR entering his 8th season in the backfield to solve a RB problem. Yikes........ -
Lets Play the Guessing Game

I'll go with Braylon Edwards to the Giants. The Giants missed Burress when he was out and reportedly Edwards would love to play in NY. Quinn? I'll say the Jets. He's a tough "lifts with the lineman" type QB-fitting the identity Rex Ryan wants to stamp on this team.
