  1. I get the fan experience but taking that out of the equation, watching on TV is so much better. Just my opinion. I feel that way about almost all large stadium sports.
  2. If I'm not mistaken, I thought it was 12 episodes and a movie to finish it.
  3. If I'm not mistaken, I thought it was 12 episodes and a movie to finish it off.
  4. God I love this debate. The past decade of piss-poor Bills football has also driven me away from the NFL as the league has turned from a sport to an entertainment show. It's brainwashed most of you despite the fact that the quality of play is far from good. I love and watch all sports (save baseball) but the NFL has become too commercialized. I will continue to watch and look forward to Bills games but I've lost all interested in other NFL games. As for football vs futbol in America. NFL will always reign supreme but you have to be blind not to see a huge generation shift. Soccer is as popular as the NFL in the 25 and under crowd. We are less than a generation away from soccer becoming the #2 sport in America. MLS is becoming a legit league and the quality of our youth programs is growing each day. The American Messi or Ronaldo are already born. And when the US hosts the World Cup in 2022 (it's gonna happen), that will be the point of no return. The older generations might never get soccer but soccer doesn't need them.
  5. Lindsey Graham is a dinosaur from a dinosaur state. And I say that as South Carolinian. The deep South folks of this state put more emphasis on stupid social issues over fiscal issues. Additionally, he was running against 5 or 6 candidates. There was no unified Tea Party front and it basically made it a cake walk for him.
  6. http://www.caintv.com/nbcs-chuck-todd-white-house-ex It continues to be amateur hour at the White House.
  7. Falcao is such a great player and Muriel is pretty damn good as well. Sucks for Colombia.
  8. My thoughts on the Turkey game: Altidore: Great game but he needs a damn goal. That said, if he can play like he did, he will open up chances for his teammates. Dempsey: Love the skill and class. He tailed off at the end but was always a threat. Bradley: Much better than last game but still not playing in his perfered position. Jones: I thought he had a rough outing. Jones needs to be perfect in the CDM spot and I'm not sure it will happen at the WC. Zusi: Sublime passing throughout the game. Great back-tracking. Davis: Nothing good or bad to say. Wasn't particularly involved. Chandler: I really wanted him to work out at LB but he just looks lost and out of position. Besler: Starting to wonder if he will start in Brazil. Cameron: Solid again. Have to think he's the only sure starter at CB. Johnson: What a goal. I said it before, I'll say it again, he will make a name for himself at this WC. Howard: Made some key saves but not too much to do. SUBS: Diskerud: The ball wasn't on his side all too much but he always seems to make a positive play. Passing is also very good. Beckerman: Four years ago, he was my least favorite USMNT player. Now I believe he should be starting in front of Jones. Solid, disciplined and knows the role. Yedlin: Very good from the kid and his speed makes up for his positioning. Green: Too many nerves but I definitely see the skill and the vision. Doubt it will come out in time for this WC. Brooks: Threw his name in the hat for that final CB slot. It's going to be a battle between him, Beasler and Gonzalez. Guzan: I rate his as good as Howard. That PK was perfect and he almost stopped it.
  9. Actually, I just spent an hour or two reading posts from soldiers who were looking for him after he went missing. Some of them didn't mince words when they said they would kill him on sight for what he caused. Turns out many Americans died trying to find him after he walked off. This guy is a deserter at best and traitor at worst. This story is about to get real fracked up. Jay Carney picked a good time to quit.
  10. My thoughts on the game: Altidore: Always been a big fan, I see glimpses again. That said, he needs to score before the WC or I'm sticking him on the bench. Wondo: He normally buries his chances so I was surprised to see he missed his two great headers. I do believe he will score at the WC. Bradley: Worst game ever for him. Don't like him playing in that CAM role. He needs to be more involved in the middle of the pitch. Jones: One of his best games. They will need him to be the destroyer and that means he can't get too involved offensively. Zuzi: Always called him the poor man's Landon Donovan. I think he's very underrated on the world stage. Bedoya: Solid game, would prefer LD in this spot but Bedoya does have provide more cover on defense. Beasley: I just don't know. He scares me but he can also provide spark from behind Bedoya. Would prefer him as a late sub if they are searching for a goal. Besler: Not his best game but he'll be starting at CB. Cameron: Most likely our best CB option. Johnson: Reminds of Tony Sanneh from WC 2002. He will make a name for himself this tournament. Howard: Not much to do but I expect him to be a wall in the net when needed. SUBS: Davis: Damn I hated you because of this whole LD thing but he proved his worth. Diskerud: Always been a fan. He has a range of qualities that no other player has in the pool. Great CAM option. Will only get better in time. Johannson: Similar to Diskerud, brings sometime to the table that's isn't found elsewhere. Yedlin: I think this kid will be a star ... in 2018. If he sees the field in Brazil, it probably wouldn't be for good reasons. Gonzalez: Has the physical qualities to be a stud CB but still not there. Likely behind Besler and Cameron but I think he will get playing time in Brazil. Chandler: He has more quality but still hasn't shown it at the national team level. KLINSMANN: I like the formation. I see why JK wouldn't have LD as one of his starters but I do believe he would have been the best option off the bench. If, for example, the US needs a goal. I pull Jones out, slide Bradley into his spot and sub Donovan on as the attacking midfielder. That gives you offensive pedigree through your front six. I'm interested to see how this team performs against Turkey on Sunday. They are probably one of the best teams in the world not to make the cup. Yep, he's best suited in the CDM role but Klinsmann wants Jones there so pushing Bradley higher up the pitch is the result. I love Bradley but I'm nervous if that's the role Klinsmann wants him in. Not saying he can't do it because he is a machine but it's not a natural place for him. My guess is if Dempsey played, he would be fallen back more than Wondo did and that would have allowed Bradley to drop back into a more perferred role. And damn you Rossi! We could have used you (and Subotic).
  11. Just a heads up, the first of three pre-World Cup friendlies is tonight at 10PM EST on ESPN2 vs Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is probably slightly better than the average CONCACAF team. Maybe. US should win and should dominate. It will be interesting to see who lines up where as Klinsmann said that the starters will be close to what he expects for the opener against Ghana next month. And I'm still confused, pissed and emotionally charged about Donovan. There is NO VALID reason he should have been left off this squad.
  12. As been rumored for two years, Klinsmann and Donovan have some serious personal issues off the field. I follow the team closely and the top three issues seem to be: 1. Donovan not being a fan of mercenaries making the team (most of the German-Americans) 2. The sabbatical Donovan took last year before the Gold Cup 3. Klinsmann and Donovan's contrasting philosophy on life and soccer (Type A vs. Type B)
  13. PRE-CUP GAMES: 5/28 vs Azerbaijan - ESPN2 (10PM ET) - W 2-0 6/1 vs Turkey - ESPN2 (2PM ET) - W 2-1 6/7 vs Nigeria - ESPN (6PM ET) Klinsmann names USA's 23-man roster for the 2014 World Cup: http://www.ussoccer....m/latest-roster NO DONOVAN?!?!?!? This is mind-boggling and obviously personal as evidenced by Klinsmann's son's now deleted Twitter account. It's pretty clear that Klinsmann's Type A personality does not mesh with Donovan's Type B personality. Klinsmann's a killer with a smile while Donovan's efficient, emotional and honest to a fault. If Donovan was a Type A personality like most professional athletes, he would have broken down doors for American players in Europe but that's not who he is. He does not seek fame or attention and he always had trouble accepting the role as the flag bearer for American soccer players. I'm still thinking this is some last minute effort by Klinsmann to get Donovan extra motivated for the World Cup because someone will get hurt between now and June 2nd when official rosters are due. Donovan in his current form is still a starter on this team but a motivated Donovan can be one of the best players in the World Cup. That said, if Donovan is not in Brazil this will be a HUGE mistake that can only spiral out of control on and off the field for the program.
  14. Can't wait to see this. The media and the rest of Obama's campaign painted Mitt as an out of touch, rich, white man and I think this documentary will show the side of Mitt we should have seen. As a conservative, I can't say he was my ideal candidate but this country is definitely worse off with him not in the White House. He is a true businessman and I think that's what we need today. As a moderate, he would have been a good bridge between the far left and the far right. From what I've read, they kept politics and policies out of this film. It's focuses on Mitt and his family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLHxbemvpxY
  15. Good on the coach. I don't know anything about his team but his comments echo a lot of my feeling about the kids of today.
  16. Thanks for sharing. Absolutely amazing. Wish I was there. The weather might suck but this is the best time of year.
  17. I was pretty bummed yesterday but after a day to think about it, the group isn't as bad as initially thought. I take nothing away from Ghana, they are a good team but they are a team the US should beat. Much of their WC pedigree has come because they beat the US twice to advance further. In 2006 (at a game I was at in Nuremburg), Ghana was gifted a penalty to win 2-1. It was an even match. In 2010, the US was extremely unlucky not to win. Despite poor player selection and tactics by Bob Bradley, the US was the better team and could have easily won had they capitalized on numerous great opportunities. Portugal is a slightly better Mexico. They can easily be frustrated and when they do they lose their minds. Germany is class. If we played them on match day one, it would get ugly but on matchday three, they will likely be secured through. If so, it gives the US a better chance to get a point or three if the stars align. All in all, it's 50/50 on advancing which I'd take. If they were in Group B, I'd say the chances would be 15%.
  18. Then take into consideration that baseball games on average take twice as long to play when compared to soccer. There really is much difference in scoring.
  19. If you understand Spanish, this video is absolutely amazing. If you don't, you will still understand why Mexico is forever in our debt. The clip is from Mexico's ESPN-equivalent. They had to go to split-screen coverage as it appeared Mexico was on its death bed. That is, until we saved them. https://www.youtube....d&v=oz1XhaBT45I Watching ESPN trying to create fake drama with Manning's return to Indy makes me feel sorry for people who just don't give soccer a try. Last night in CONCACAF proved yet again what real sports is all about. The drama of international soccer is unmatched. In a game that was meaningless to the USA, I was still on pins and needles because of what everything meant for all the other teams.
  20. That has got to be the smallest hand I've ever seen.
  21. Would have loved to had Fitz last night to finish that game. It seems everyone's moral was killed when Tuel came in.
  22. Video was obviously taken at half time so my guess is Steve Smith was referring to Steve Johnson getting smoked. Not sure what Smith says first but he definitely ends with "Better go talk to his ass to get into the f--ing weight room".
  23. Nope, Obama is the post-2000 Bills. Doesn't matter who the other QB is. Obama is an amateur. Many of us knew this from day one. The rest of the world caught on over the past two years. Now some on the left are starting to figure it out. He is an empty chair who has no value outside of campaigning. Somewhere in the Kremlin, Putin is wearing Kraft's Super Bowl ring, drinking a few shots of vodka and laughing at what a bunch of pussies Americans have become.
  24. The second tiebreaker is goals for, which Panama has three more than Mexico. I like Mix a lot, especially with Holden's career being derailed by injuries. I'm actually shocked he only plays in Norway. He's a quality player and I expect he will make a big move after the World Cup (if not sooner). I agree about the outside backs too. Parkhurst was my last cut, I picked Castillo instead because he brings more offensive spark from the back. Cherundolo has had knee issues but if he's healthy and fit, he would bump Castillo or Chandler. Here's how I see the pecking order: Book Your Ticket: G: Howard, Guzan, Rimando CB: Besler, Gonzalez LB/RB: Cameron, Beasley CM: Bradley, Jones, Diskerud AM: Donovan, F. Johnson CF: Dempsey ST: Altidore Start Making Plans: CB: Goodson CM: Beckerman CF: Johannsson ST: E. Johnson Still Could Be Replaced: CB: Brooks LB/RB: Chandler, Castillo AM: Zusi, Bedoya Potential Replacements (In Order of Preference): DEF: Cherundolo*, Parkhurst, Evans, Lichaj, Orozco, Onyewu, Bocanegra MID: Holden*, Shea, Kljestan, Davis, Corona, Edu, Torres, D. Williams FOR: Agudelo, Wondo, Gomez, Boyd One wildcard would be DeAndre Yedlin. He's young but will be a staple at the outside back position for many cycles to come. He might be ready by next summer.
  25. Cug: Actually, Mexico is currently in fifth place and isn't even in position for the inter-continental playoff against New Zealand. That honor goes to Panama, who is Mexico's next opponent on Match Day 9. Mexico HAS to win as even a draw will almost certainly knock them out of the World Cup. Panama will be heading into Azteca knowing that they only need a draw and that Mexico will have the most unbearable pressure on them. I honestly expected that Mexico would find a way but the more I see of them, the more I question them. At this point, they don't deserve to go and even if they face the Kiwis, I'm not sure they will win that playoff. Last night would have been uglier if US didn't have their suspension and injury issues. Hell, even Dempsey is out of form. As for the US, big win again that displays the depth of the program. I've done a complete 180 on Beckerman. I hated seeing him on Bob Bradley's teams but Klinsmann has stuck with him from day one. Honestly, if everyone is healthy, I would prefer Beckerman with Bradley as opposed to Jones. Bradley is the engine that powers the US and Jones tries to be that too. Here's the 23 Players I'd Select as of Today: G: Howard, Guzan, Rimando CB: Besler, Gonzalez, Goodson, Brooks LB/RB: Cameron, Chandler, Beasley, Castillo CM: Bradley, Jones, Diskerud, Beckerman AM: Donovan, Zusi, Bedoya, F. Johnson CF: Dempsey, Johannsson ST: Altidore, E. Johnson
