Dawkins and brown are literally top five tackles lol
There's not 6 left tackles with Dion Dawkins resume over the last 7 years
And Spencer Brown is absolutely one of the best five great tackles in the world and only getting better
28 out of 32 teams would take our pair of tackles
That is an extremely high ranking. i'm not going to argue the point but what I will say is that if depth is not added, the whole thing can rapidly fall apart. The Bills have to protect Josh at all costs.
I never want to see the Bills return to the very long period of time where their OL just flat out sucked. Not ever.

Come on everybody
I say now let's play a game
I betcha I can make a rhyme
Out of anybody's name
The first letter of the name
I treat it like it wasn't there
But a "B" or an "F"
Or an "M" will appear -

I think it is better to stay single than it is to get married and then get divorced. The problem with this is that there is a 50% chance that you will in fact get divorced. The odds on a divorce from your second marriage then skyrocket well beyond that 50%. What surprises many people is that most divorcees do NOT trade up.
I also think that being in a marriage that is honest and 100% equal is better than being single for you entire life. Don't get me wrong. I got married at 28 and had some unforgettable, excellent nights when I was single. Still, great relationships are a wonderful thing.
This is a good thread but I think that a divorce thread would be even more interesting, and of good use to those contemplating marriage. They might learn behaviors to both look for in a possible spouse and personal behavior to avoid. They would also undoubtably read a horror story or two, or dozens of them.

Blame him? I am not sure I'd blame anyone.
Do I think it is a quitter's mentality? Yes.
I disagree. If for instance his wife is making his life miserable, this means more than playing football 3,000 milies from home (if there is an option). Should he put his foot down if she makes it an issue and demand a divorce?
And again,, we are talking about six years down the road.

You are correct about his contract and it's not something I'm "worried" about. Just something that I thought about and was curious to see how people would feel about it.
Like I said, a truly offseason bored post.
If he gives us six years it's cool with me. His wife might insist on it. He might have kids by then and they may want to raise them close to the families. This means more than how much we like the Bills.
Hopefully at some point Josh and the Bills won't have to field a team against Taylor Swift.

Forgive the offseason post, but this thought crossed my mind last night, so flame appropriately.
It's hard for me to argue that Josh has been let down by the defense in key games, especially the playoffs. You could also say that the Bills were outcoached in most of their playoff losses. Add in being in the same conference as the Ravens, Bengals, Chiefs, and other improving AFC teams, it's not going to get any easier soon.
With being from the west coast and being engaged to a movie star, is it crazy to think it might make more sense for him to want to play out his contract and join a team like the Rams? He would immediately become the NFL king of LA, have an offensive minded coach, and be closer to home. I think his chances to get a ring would greatly improve, and he'd get to play in a dome where he excels.
To be clear, I don't want any of this to happen. But if it did, I don't think I could really blame him. Yes, the Bills took a chance on him, but he was still a top 10 pick and has paid the team and city back well beyond that. I would hate it, but I would still support him.
Isn't he under contract through 2028? After that the Bills could franchise him for another two years. Please someone correct me if I am wrong but if I have this right, I refuse to worry about what might happen with Josh Allen six years from now.

My father didn't know the meaning of the word
He disrespected Mama and treated us like dirt

Don't let the day get the better of you
When the evening comes, there's so much to do!
You'd better put on your best and wear a smile
Come along with me a while 'cause I tell you
I know a place
Where the music is fine and the lights are always low!
I know a place
Where we can go

so, i'm going to differ from you on one thing (to a degree) roids don't change people, they just supercharge them. canseco was shy as a youth, and out of control as a big time pro, but he's an ego maniac even off the roids (i knew a neighbor of his, really rich area, the neighbor really got a kick out of jose but had stories which amused him about what a total over the top goof he was, and that's years after retiring and at the very least, doing way less roids). foster, canseco, and richie are all jerks/psychos, a holes, basically the stereo type of people who would be locked up if they weren't so good at sports. i also think these guys use a lot of other recreational drugs which do worse things to their minds than roids do, by a lot.
I partially agree. Jumbo Elliot got into trouble when he was on the Jets. He and three other people destroyed a bar in Long Beach. https://nypost.com/1999/07/11/unnecessary-roughness-by-jets-trio/ Let's just say that I am also aware of a couple of lesser unreported incidents.
That said, several years ago I sat with him at a coffee shop which he owned, and spoke with him for approx. 30 minutes. He was 100% normal. He had lost at least 50 pounds. He donated money to the volunteer firefighters and owned 2 businesses in the community. He told me about how it was to play against Bruce Smith, and that he had coached Jason Peters when he was a udfa. When I commented how strong Peters was, he implied that he was stronger lol. Maybe he was.
I'm certainly not a doctor, but I suspect that being off the roids (and almost certainly booze as well) contributed to this drastic change of behavior.

I never believed that Martin was bullied. How many NFL left tackles are bullied? What I do believe is that Incognito is a thuggish, gigantic man with super strength who was roided out for many years. To this day I think that steroids are quite prevalent in the NFL. They are the elephant in the room that fans can't or won't see.
Remember Jose Canseco anyone? In high school he was so shy that he barely spoke at all. Jose went from 195 lbs to 245 lbs and actually got faster. This once ever so shy person was then driving around well over 100 miles per hour and fooling around with Madonna (not a rarity for steroid users in those days lol).
I think that Ruben Foster (for those who remember him) could have been an all time great linebacker, but off the field issues (and some injuries) screwed up his career. He was fast and extremely vicious, with super human strength. He was a predator on the field and a maniac off of it. Was he on steroids? All we can do is guess.
I am not on an anti-steroid crusade. I wish the players well but I have no, nor do I want any control of what these players do to their bodies. The NFL is entertainment to me. I do however believe that untraceable steroid usage is still widespread in the NFL. Do I have any evidence to present? Of course not. That said, some of these off field incidents do raise a few eyebrows, to say the least.
Of course, this is jmo.

See the smile awaitin' in the kitchen
Food cookin' and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening, when the day is through
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind -
I wonder how you're feeling
There's ringing in my ears
And no one to relate to 'cept the sea
Who can I believe in?
I'm kneeling on the floor
There has to be a force
Who do I phone?
The stars are out and shining
But all I really want to know
Oh won't you show me the way, every day
I want you to show me the way-

That dude who signed a contract then wanted more money?
Yes, him. The best blocker who ever played in Buffalo. All teams have made some poor trades, but trading Jason Peters was easily one of the worst, dumbest trades in NFL history.

So meet me tonight,
just where the light shines, from a window,
and, as I take your hand,
say that you'll be mine tonight.Oh, I would be so glad
just to have a love like that,
Oh, I would be true
and I'd give my life for you. -

You're probably right. He did last 10 years in the league somehow.
My take is probably more emotional than objective. I just remember the frustration of him looking like a human turnstile.
He was pretty bad on the Bills but somehow decent on the Vikings iirc.

Cyrus Kouandjio was a pretty bad pick. 44th pick in 2014. Glass knees
He really was. I am a huge Crimson Tide Fan and I was strongly against that pick. He was in fact the 4th or 5th best blocker on that team and was struggling with knee injuries as you say.

Another honorable mention would be OT Greg Jerman. Greg was cut by the Dolphins. What did the Bills do? They picked him up and put him in at left tackle where he was bad beyond words. He could not pass block or run block and our qbs and rbs were getting slaughtered. I would watch game hoping that no Bills players would be seriously injured or killed. This poor guy would get tossed around like a frisbee.
As of 2014 he is a lawyer and an Assistant DA in Texas. I wish him the best.
-
I'm going to run with a guard Marcus Spriggs. He not only was unable to block, he didn't even try. Once Rob Johnson got hit late and was laying on the floor bleeding. Spriggs didn't give the defender a second look, let alone attack him. He just glanced at RJ and kept walking.
The young fans probably have no idea just how bad our offensive lines were for just so long.

Well, there's a brand-new place I've found
Where people go from miles around
They come from everywhere
And if you drop in there
You might see anyone in townGoing to a go-go, everybody's
Going to a go-go, well, come on now
Don't you want to go, yeah
Jason peters to retire

Langston Walker was a bad RT. Dockery was flat out terrible. I remember once the Bills were playing in the mud. The players were filthy except Walker. His uniform looked like it was dry cleaned. Walker even had some sort of weird TV video he would do.
Dockery was much like Melvin Fowler. The both came in to a horrid Bills OL as free agents, and both looked as if they could play, but they stunk up the field.
