As we say in this business...Hear me out.

    1) What is the most important and valuable position in the NFL - QB. Yes, we have one in Josh Allen, but we can find another for two reasons:

           a) If Josh goes down for an extended period of time, we have a young QB waiting in the wings. Think Tom Brady, Steve Young, etc.

           b) If the young draftee shows improvement, maturity, success in year 1 or 2 of a rookie contract, does he not become an instant trade candidate for a player or draft         compensation.

    2) Take a look at the QB position on many, many teams in the NFL: Miami, Arizona, Minnesota, Jets, Pittsburgh, Rams (in two years), Dallas (in a few years), etc.  Some teams are ACTUALLY looking to start Jameis Winston or Andy Dalton because they have no other option (Fernando being selected first and leaving B grade QB's for the other teams.)

If we do a little homework and draft a young QB with our first pick (27th) we get the ability to lock him/her in for five years if they show promise.  That QB can then be parlayed into multiple high end draft picks (multiple high firsts) because the team that pays that much for our young QB obviously chit the bed the year before.

    3) We can draft a DE or LB later on (Round 3 or 4)...we've shown better success drafting those players in later rounds anyway.

Big picture: Draft a skilled/smart QB early and often, no matter who your QB is.  They are commodities that appreciate in value for the betterment of the team in future years. The Lion King Nba GIF

I think that 1st or 2nd is too soon because of our drastic need at WR and of course Josh Allen, but I appreciate the theme of your post. If we draft a qb and injury to Josh forces him in, he would be low paid and worth his weight in gold in a trade.

It kinda makes sense to draft a qb every season, but again; I would be completely against using a 1 or a 2, and this would include if Ty Simpson was available. Josh desperately needs better wrs and depth on the OL.

    Jmo.

This is the draft to nail together a really good Dline. Take 2 swings at DT even with a FA.

Should we even bother with wide receivers and protection for Josh? Probably not. These are picks we can use to also bolster up the secondary and linebackers.

BPA will probably never be QB whenever we pick.

But outside of RB, the pick would be super important if one of those players gets hurt and misses the year.

I agree, but the Giants truly lucked out by getting Jaxon Dart at 25. Hell, I only saw him play a couple of games and I even knew he was going to be very good. I was shocked that he lasted that long. I never was and never will be a Giant Fan but they are going to be good rather soon imo.

I've never liked drafting for need. I mean, i understand the concept behind it, trying to fill out your roster with drafting players that fit that specific need or role, but it tends to leave more valuable players on the board or in play for other teams and the player might not always have the specific skillset to match the teams' schemes.

BPA is always the way to go IMO..........no matter the position, if the BPA is waiting at your pick, you always draft him.

The unicorn is the BPA being the exact player that meets your draft for need.

BPA or need?.........i'm curious to see the feedback.

I respectfully disagree. In some cases yes, but not always.

First of all, the player that someone THINKS is the bpa is often far from it. When the Bills drafted Whitner, Elam, and McKelvin, they probably thought they were getting the BPA. Butler said something about dancing in the street out of happiness with the McKelvin pick. Meanwhile, that team had a horrid OL.

I believe in the BPA but limited to certain positions such as QB, LT, WR, and pass rushing DE. Now, if a team is loaded with talent all over the roster and they see an outstanding player at other positions they should jump on him. This however is not where the Bills are. Josh Allen is still in his prime but not getting younger. His receivers might be the worst in the NFL. This puts them in desperate need of an upgrade, not a safety or LB who appears to be in some way the BPA.

    As always, this is jmo.

  6. When you dance, do your senses tingle then take a chance?
In a trance, while the lonely mingle with circumstance?
I got something to tell you; you made it show
Let me come over; I know you know
When you dance, ooh ooh, I can really love

Josh has pretty much been a "game manager" the last two years.  The 30-40 yeard lasers have been missing.   The plan for the last year and half was for Josh to dink and dunk (along with the occasional scramble) down the field in a complementary type fashion.  Limit mistakes and interceptions.

The hope here is it was a McDermott decision to play the offensive philosophy described above, carried out by J Brady from specific orders.  When J Brady assumes control the offense will drive the show, and be an attack offense that features the howitzer arm of Allen - and the rare arm talent he has.

The first sign of this change to going back to using the advantage of Josh's arm should be seen in a serious change in the WR room.

The above is a distinct possiblity to me, and creates a lot of excitement.  Unleash Josh!!!

I agree. It is tough to throw those amazing passes when you don't have good targets.

Will Josh keep trying to put on that cape all year long to bail out his new HC and keep turning the ball over? Or will he settle down to be that game manager type that limited his turnovers, sacks, and have a season as he did in 2024 that won him his MVP?

Josh will never be a "game manager" imo. Sam Darnold is a game manager. Josh is a mega talented passer and gifted runner. He is too talented to be a game manager in the traditional sense.

Game managers do not throw 70 yard strikes, 40 yard squareouts, or run over middle linebackers and DTs.

In what way can this possibly make any sense?

How many pardons do make sense? Between 2021 and 2025, 4245 act of clemency were granted. Do you think that they all made sense? :)

  10. I'm all in for Waddle, and yes; I AM partial because he played for Alabama.

That said, putting injuries aside that I don't know about, this man can freaking play. His stats don't matter as much as some might think. He was playing with Tua who is a wonderful person but he is done as a QB. I wish that Tua would retire today before he is a vegetable.

A healthy Waddle has every great trait that a wide receiver needs. He is twitchy and gets away from defenders. He has excellent hands. Speed? I saw a video of a race between Waddle and Henry Ruggs. Waddle lost be a 1/2 step. He can fly. His 12 million dollar cap hit for 2026 is peanuts in today's market.

Josh Allen throwing to a healthy Waddle is almost too good to imagine as a Bills fan.

  11. If I understand this, Henry completed his 2 year sentence in 2011, so it is not as if the pardon released him from prison.

Travis was very talented, but he was not known for his intelligence nor self control. I hope that his children are somehow OK.

  12. Putting possible injuries aside, I think that there is a distinct possibility the the Bills will be a better team now that McDermott won't be calling the shots. It is hard for me to picture Brady/Beane putting emphasis on defense the way McDermott did. Also as a result of the firing, it is reasonable to believe that they got rid of his play not to lose philosophy.

Of course, all possible good things do hinge upon what happens in the draft and free agency. As Bills Fans we have seen the same dumb mistakes made by different regimes. Call me crazy but something tells me that this time will be different.

  13. Been forty days since I don't know when
I just saw her with my best friend
Do you know what I mean?
Do you know, know what I mean?

    I just saw her yesterday
I just saw her, asked her to stay
Do you know what I mean?
Lord, do you know what I mean?

  14. I saw her standing on the corner
A yellow ribbon in her hair
All night long my heart was shudder
Look at there, look at there
You're the one, look at there
    Youngblood, youngblood, youngblood
Woo, I can't get you out of my mind
