I don't foresee any significant changes in management and I doubt that they will ever put the weapons around him that he had in 2020 again............so that would portend similar play style and results for a few years........and by then he might not have the ability to bully his way to victory when all else fails.

Why do you think this? Is it because of the salary cap, McDermott refusing to stop his focus on defense, or both?

  2. When I think about those nights in Montreal
I get the sweetest thoughts of you and me
Memories of love above the city lights
Oooo, I've tried so hard to take it
But alone my heart won't make it

    I just wanna stop
And tell you what I feel about you, babe
    I just wanna stop
I never wanna live without you, babe
    I just gotta stop
    For your love...

  4. Smart move by a great coach. It is harder (and often pays more) to coach a prominent college team than an NFL team.  College coaches have to spend untold hours recruiting, and travelling around to do so. Saban travelled so much that he often used a helicopter. College coaches have to go to recruit's homes, and now many of the parents (or even friends) act as agents.

Very smart move for Harbaugh and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is quite successful.

Harbaugh gone…that transfer portal will open up now.

EXCELLENT!!!!! I hope some of their best players like warm weather!!!

Safety is a priority, Beneford is staying as a starting CB, Elam has absolutely NO skills to play as a safety in a zone scheme. The only answer will be a FA and a safety drafted in either 1st or 2nd rd. Count on it

Something that stupid wouldn't surprise me even a little bit. In fact, I can see McDermott actually trading up in round one for a safety.

Josh needs wide receivers and protection but first things first. Let's grab a safety. This can be a 2006 Groundhog day. Wouldn't that be swell?!?!

It's interesting that apparently Harbaugh to Chargers is a done deal, as I think that would have been the most desirable stop for Bill among teams looking for a coach this year.

Opening the door that much more for us to sign him up.

Pegula can give him a "birthday present" of whatever 60 foot fishing boat he wants, and a slip in Erie Basin Marina.

Oh, and double whatever New England paid him.

Don't give him General Manager powers, however.  I do NOT think BB would argue that at this stage of his career.

He's getting older, but that guy as our HC is the stuff of dreams.

If it goes south after 2 years, we will be NO FURTHER BEHIND than where we are going to be with McDermott, anyway.

    Perfect post!!!

Making valid points will get you nowhere with this crowd. Sorry. It has been decided. 🤷‍♂️

Augie, none of this is personal.

I make the case that McDermott has too much power and that Beane is his hand selected puppet.  I also think that McDermott has botched most of his drafts and even contract signings by being too defense oriented for today's passing, offense dominated NFL. When I post these things, some folks like it. Others choose the vomit icon and that's OK too.

Imo, McDermott is a decent game coach with WAY too much authority. I also am skeptical of him being able to be in charge of the entire organization and also run the defense. Would I like to see him replaced? I sure would, but this should not and hopefully does not put me at odds with other Bills Fans. It's simply jmo.

Anyway, I hope that all is well.

  9. We were so close, there was no room
We bled inside each others wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace

Its because the talking heads don't care about facts.  They talk about what is easy and what will stir up clicks.  Nobody cares about a defensive unit, but they all care about the QB.

Talking heads have one format...someone take the pro and the rest take the negatively absurd.  So they sound like we are covering all our bases, but really we just want to stir the pot with stupid statements to get people to click the clip or tune in.

I am NOT defending talking heads, but the truth is that if Josh had better receivers, the Bills would have had increased TOP, thus keeping the Chiefs off of the field and decreasing their offensive numbers.

Perhaps it even would have prevented McDermott from calling stupid plays like that fake punt.

Sammy Watkins wants to have a word with you.

Yes and I would like to have a word with dopey ass Whaley. He gave away the store for Watkins. The only problems were that our QB and OL sucked at the time. You know.....little things.

I hated that trade the day it was made and was right here bitching about it. If we had stayed at 9 we could have drafted Aaron Donald or Odell Beckham Jr. (if they really wanted a receiver).  Whaley was a horror show. He gave away the store.

  12. McDermott was given far too much power upon his arrival, power he didn't deserve nor was he ready for. He proved this by trading away the Mahomes pick (#10). He traded all the way back to 27, was undercompensated, and drafted a cornerback. This, on a team in desperate need of a QB and OL. Even after Beane came in the drafts emphasized defense, and I make the case that McDermott is in charge. I have said before that I believe that McDermott has the power to fire Beane. Tell me, who do you think fired our OC and Frazier? Beane?

McDermott would more than likely make a good head coach on a team that did not give him full control. He has come a long way since he was fired by the Eagles in 2011,  but; he started out on the wrong foot with the Bills and is not what this team needs to go too the next level.

    As always, jmo.

Nobody should be blaming our bad kicker for being bad. Blame the coaches for putting him in that position knowing that he is bad. He was statistically one of the worst kickers in the entire league this year. The result was inevitable.

There's absolutely no reason why the offense went off their game plan instead of slowly and methodically continuing to march down the field and run the clock. For some reason they started launching impossible throws down field rather than picking up 7-8 yards every play with Kincaid.

Even if Bass makes the kick (we knew he wouldn't) then the Chiefs have the ball with over a min left. You don't think Mahomes is going to get his guys in FG range when we didn't stop them at all the entire night? Again, don't blame Bass. This isn't his fault. We would have lost either way.

Thanks for a well presented, sensible, and very funny post.

    Bravo!!! :)

He was getting the ball out as soon as he hit his drop all night.

On the rare occasions our coverage was solid, he was quick to get out of there.

There were very limited opportunities for the pass rush to be effective and a big reason for that is that we were missing both our starting LB's, both our starting corners and Rasul was out there with a peg leg. You can't expect a DL to get home consistently in 2 seconds or less when there are guys running free all through the secondary.

You make good and valid points but you gotta admit, that was a pretty expensive one sack in terms of Miller and Oliver alone, no?

Maybe a weird post - but I was both excited about this game, and dreading it.  I was excited because winning would have been euphoria - but I expected losing to be completely devastating.  As it always has been for me.

I'm actually shocked that I'm in decent spirits right now.  It's nothing like previous losses in high-stakes games.  I usually can't sleep, but I think I'll sleep fine tonight.

Trying to figure it out.  Do I just expect this kind of stuff now?  Just curious if anyone else has a similar thing going on....

Not even a little weird. It is a 100% legit question imo.

I am not as furious as I might have been had I not known the problems that the Bills were facing before the game. I was already disillusioned with McDermott in terms of the power he has and his horrible philosophy of team building.

Many (if not most of us) will never in our lifetime see a QB as talented as Josh Allen on the Bills. It might never even happen. Last night was a fine example of what will occur when a team uses their best resources on defense, instead of giving Josh the tools that he needs and deserves.

That said, McDermott isn't going anywhere and it will be interesting to see which way he goes in the future. I for one hope that he goes to another team but this is jmo.

  18. My take on the game, and the state of the team:

    1) Seeing the Bills Fans crying on TV was a semi-traumatic experience for me. It was just so sad. Bills Fans are clearly the most loyal fans of any team in any sport. It really hurt to see these wonderful, loyal folks this upset.

    2) Josh is GREAT!!! He is more talented than John Elway. They should extend him today with a HUGE raise, and I don't care how many years are left on his contract.

    3) I think that most of us long time fans knew that there was every chance that he would miss that FG.

    4) Without Josh, the Bills are just a pretty good team with a fairly decent coach (who has far too much power).

    5) I strongly doubt that McDermott will be fired. Pegula appears to be spellbound by him.

    6) The upcoming draft will be pivotal. The team desperately needs wide receivers and must continue to bolster the offensive line. Josh HAS to be protected. Will McDermott focus on these issues? It's really hard to say. Am I super confident that he will? No.

    7) GO BILLS TODAY, TOMORROW, and FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
