  1. This is a great suggestion, especially in blizzard conditions.
  2. And I am really surprised by their decision. I know from his press conference that Saban is glad. He also implied that he will not leave them in for a long time but the decision is still a brave one and speaks to their character imo. These kids (if healthy) are both almost certain to be top 5 draft picks). They have contributed very much to The University of Alabama Football Team and school. They are wonderful leaders and role models with or without this affirmative decision. When I watch this game, I will be holding my breath that neither of them gets injured and loses out on millions of dollars. Numerous star players on other teams are opting out and I cannot say that I blame them. I have seen a few college players get injured late in the season and it has effected both their draft status and career. My point, which I have tried to make before is that bowl games are virtually meaningless to most players. With the playoffs expanding to 12 games, they will soon become a complete waste of time and risk for even more players. What do you folks think about bowl games having any real meaning in terms of winning or losing them?
  3. But I ain't going down that long old lonesome road All by myself But I ain't going down that long old lonesome road All by myself I can't carry you baby Gonna carry somebody else
  4. Taking into consideration that the injury rate is 100%, I am inclined to agree with the above.
  5. All the world over, so easy to see People everywhere just wanna be free Listen, please listen, that's the way it should be There's peace in the valley, people got to be free You should see What a lovely, lovely world this'd be Everyone learned to live together, ah hah Seems to me Such an itty bitty thing should be Why can't you and me learn to love one another?
  6. Why follow me to higher ground? Lost as you swear I am Don't throw away your basic needs Ambiance and vanity Don't scream about, don't think aloud Turn your head now, baby, just spit me out Don't worry 'bout, don't speak of doubt Turn your head now, baby, just spit me out Don't scream about, don't think aloud Turn your head now, baby, just spit me out Don't worry 'bout, don't speak of doubt Turn your head now, baby, just spit me out
  7. There'll always be sunshine, when I look at you It's something I can't explain, just the things that you do But if you get lonely, phone me and take A second to give to me, that magic you make and Everyday love me your own special way Melt all my heart away with a smile Take time to tell me you really care And we'll share tomorrow together (Always forever love you) I'll always love you ever (Always forever love you) and ever
  8. Several years ago we went into Manhattan to see the Carol King play on an April day. When it was over we went across the street to a pub/restaurant that advertised a burger made of steak tail from a porterhouse. When we could afford it, every once in a while my mother used to buy big steaks and have the butcher grind the tail and make hamburgers from it. It was nothing short of exquisite. To make things even better, the restaurant was televising the yearly Alabama "A" Game. It as the first time I saw John Metchie play.Talk about a perfect day!!!!! If there are any butchers out here, why is it all but impossible to find steak tail these days?
  9. RIP Coach and may God provide solace to your family in this time of sorrow.
  10. He would probably be a Drew Brees quality star, or at least something approaching that. Chandler was a great quarterback who got beat like a drum (after letting go of beautiful, accurate passes) in virtually every game in which he played. With the new rules he might have played until 40.
  11. OK.....I just have ugly memories of Schobel being our only pass rusher and lining up a mile wide. This, and Dareus standing there waving his arms like a trained seal instead of penetrating. It was rather sickening, no?
  12. I am not fully convinced that the OP's question is specifically about football. I mean, this is the "Off The Wall" Board!"
  13. Am I wrong or was Rex's defense one of the worst, dumbest defenses in NFL history?
  14. Look through any window, yeah Any time of day See the drivers on the roads Pullin' down their heavy loads Movin' on their way Drivin' down highways and the by ways (Where do they go) Movin' on their way Drivers with their shy ways and their sly ways
  15. Two or three people fading in and out Like a radio station I'm thinking about But I can't hear Who gets breakfast? Who gets the lunch? Who gets to be the boss of this bunch? Who will steer? Turning Turning To see your face alone I'm hoping there's someone home
  16. Well all I want is to just be free Live my life the way I wanna be All I want is to just have fun Live my life like it's just begun But you're pushin' too hard Pushin' too hard on me (too hard)
  17. Good question. Could they possibly pay as much as Texas A&M, etc.?
  18. Oh, I would be so glad Just to have a love like that, Oh, I would be true And I'd give my life for you. So meet me tonight, Just where the light shines from a window, And as I take your hand, Say that you'll, be mine tonight.
  19. So true!!! Tbh I had not thought of the possibility of the NFL stepping in, and there are many ways in which they could. Btw, I agree 1,000,000% about this draft. I saw 1 early mock that had 6 or 7 QBs going in round 1, and I'm not sure that ANY of them are as good as Tua or Mac Jones, let alone Josh. Even Will Anderson who is potentially great (I liken him to some degree to Von Miller) took a step back this season so yes; I think that the quality will rapidly decrease unless the NFL steps in. Thanks for yet another great post!
  20. I could not possibly agree more. That said, allow me to introduce you to our #1 pick in 2023..... https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Brian-Branch-DB-Alabama
  21. I hope that you get someone to replace him. I can't imagine the money they are tossing around. As far as A&M, their roster is loaded with talent. Alabama was heavily recruiting their DT Water Nolen, who I think will be great. That said, carrying a roster full of millionaires didn't help them last season.
  22. I agree. At last count Bama had 12 in the portal, and there is nothing to make me not believe that Saban ushered them into it as well. I think that the biggest problem I have with with NIL is that imo, it will never increase the quality of play for the athlete and will often decrease it. I have said this many times, who wants to box Mike Tyson or get hit by Ruben Foster if you have 500K in your pocket and a selection from an entire university chock full of hot coeds? I don't know where this whole thing will go, but it will wind up costing some of the better players money in the long run, or at least I think it will. Most of the best players come from poverty stricken backgrounds. I truly don't think that many, if not most of them are mature enough or prepared to handle themselves with all of this sudden cash. Jmo.
  23. The glass was raised, the fired-roast The fullness of the wine, the dim last toasting While at port adieu or die A choke of grief heart hardened I Beyond belief a broken man too tough to cry Surf's Up Aboard a tidal wave Come about hard and join The young and often spring you gave I heard the word Wonderful thing A children's song
  24. I heard on Sirius today that Miami offered Alabama OLB/Edge Dallas Turner 1 million dollars to transfer. I don't blame Miami; I have seen every snap of his at Alabama and I'm telling you that he is very, VERY good. That said, the system bothers me. I am not thinking that he will be a better player with a cool million (and who knows how much more) in his pocket. Will he be as hungry? Maybe so but I doubt it. I know that the players deserve money. I also know that Saban will be able to poach players from other teams and probably will, with or without Turner. I just think that that there should be a system in place. I get it that I am a bit reluctant to change. So are most people imo but this current system is like complete anarchy and needs structure imo. What do you think?
