1. that TD has his eye on one particular VERY expensive free agent.

He wants Moulds and Drew to accept pay cuts. A poster stated that Priouleaux is slated to earn 1.5 mil. We will pick up approx. 1.2 mil for dumping Henry. Josh Reed is all but sure to be dumped. I am sure there will be others, and we are already under the cap!

The above adds up to a lot of cap space. Might we see another "Takeo type" signing? A big name/huge impact player? Pace? Jones? Thomas?

One could only hope, but imo, TD has already plotted a course. We shall see.

  2. Bump as this is an excellent football related topic

Thanks for raising interesting possibilities in your initial post. I must disagree with two points that you raised:

    1) DEs are VERY hard to get, especially good pass rushers. Teams will not trade one for a rb with issues galore (Henry)and a bad wideout (Reed).

    2) Kyle Turley was said to have lost a lot of weight (roids related?) and threatened to assault his headcoach. He is also not a better RT than Williams, who makes a trillion dollars. Bad fit.

  3. How about Moats from I belive Louisiana Tech.  He's coming out this year and might drop down the board far enough for us to p/u late in the second.  The kid looks like he has alot of potential.  Anyone know what round he's projected.

I saw that kid on the nfl channel college show, and have been touting him since. R.Rich and Jokeman like him, and I am waiting to hear what Badolbilz thinks about him.

From what I saw, he runs like Travis with speed (although admittedly not as strong).

He is mentioned on the TBD college boards, which I hope people show interest in this year.

  4. his cap hit is actually 1.7 million -- way to much for a special teamer when a rook can do that job at 1/4 the cap hit.......

1.5 in savings for the bills when he is cut..........count on it, he won't be around........

I agree, they will not pay him 1.5 mil. Perhaps a renogation would be in order.

  5. I like him...but do the Bills really need a guard?

    211424

I think so Tom. In fact, imo they need 2.

If a LG is available via free agency who can play a comparable game to CV at RG, the Bills OL would be vastly improved. I like Tucker, and he could be a great backup, or perhaps even a center if Teague is moved to LT.

I would also want to draft another one. The steelers keep putting forth these monsters, and imo, they make Staley and an old Bettis appear to be better than they would perhaps be under other conditions.

    Whadda ya think? :P

PS: Not that it matters, but the Bills did pretty well with the last UFA they signed from the packers.

  6. As I recall, his cap hit is approx. 1 mil. Steep? Perhaps, but he is a very good special teams player.

During one of the games, one of our players screwed up (I think it was #19) and PP was yelling at him, "We dont do that here!" It was great to hear.

He may not be much of a db, but I am very hesitant to screw around with those oh so special teams. They impressed me as much with coverage than with runbacks.

    I hope that he stays.

  7. C'mon...he's not that bad.  Small, shifty, a strong runner, gives great effort.  Not an every-down back, but a nice change from McGahee when needed.  And I'll take players like him or Damien Covington (RIP) who actually put forth some effort on the field over stiffs like Travis "Me, block?" Henry.

Your anti-Travis rants are becoming tiresome.

Please show a little more respect for this sure fire first round trade bait. :P

PS: This back from Denver being on the market does NOT help at all. ;)

  8. What sort of RB would Tampa get for a 2nd rounder? He also comes MUCH cheper than any other FA RB, next years salary is only 1.5M I think. A 2nd is not as crazy as it sounds.

    210977

Actually sfd, rb is one of the positions where value is often found in later rounds.

Dallas just got one in round 2, no? Also, Terrell Davis was a 6th round pick.

Imo, the guys that teams truly need to grab right away LTs and DEs, not rbs.

  9. I understand where you're coming from, but really, do you think he's just BS-ing? I don't. The Bills allowed him to do the leg work for a possible trade. I'm sure he and his agent have been hitting the street non-stop ever since. I also believe that with the press he's generating from his search, if any of the teams he claims have expressed interest, really haven't, we'd have heard a response.

Bob, here is what I think he is doing....just my opinion mind you.

You stated that the Bills gave HIM the right to seek a trade. In actuality this is true, but the task belongs to his agent.

I have represented many workers at the union level. Sometimes, I would have things worked out with supervisors before the actual grievance hearing. Then at the hearing, the employee, instead of shutting up and letting me do my job, would make an inflamatory statement and actually impede the process.

I think that Travis, not known for brains, should keep quiet and let his professional agent handle things. Makes sense, don't you think?

  10. I think that the fact Henry is under contract makes him far easier for the Bills to trade than Peerless as an FA.

The Bills were scheduled to recieve and were owed nothing for Peerless as an FA, but, we have Travis under contract for another year and TD has made the approriate noises about wanting to keep him here while also allowing him to do TDs work by aggressively shopping himself around/

TD is also far more tradeable than PP because a team had to trafe and sign for PP in order to make the deal work.  A team can trade for TH and work him out or even see how he plays for a few games if they wish and then sign him if he merits it.

PP amd TH are not a perfect analogy for each other at all.  The Bills have far more cards and a lot more leverage to trade Henry.  We had to create leverage by putting the transition tag on Price, but this would have been a risky maneuver for us except Blank had already publicly promised to the fans and to Vick he would do what was necessary to bring him in.  He thought that was going to simply be a big contract, but because of his big mouth it became a 1st round pick also.

    >>>>> We had to create leverage by putting the transition tag on Price<<<<<

The Bills lost their transition tag about 10 years ago. They no longer have one as per the players agreement.

They named Price the Franchise Player and removed the tag in order to trade him.

  11. It is on the front page of their internet edition.  The website is profootballweekly.com.

Not much new, other than another source stating that Jennings may want to return to Georgia.

    210439

Even the Georgia thing is quite old.

I am sorry, but that article looked like the writer read this board and gave a compilation of our thoughts, especially wrt Travis.
