1. Yep, I sure do.  Travis Henry is still young and has a bunch of teams clamoring for him (Miami, Arizona, Oakland are the ones that were named).  They want to get him and when all is said and done it will net us an extra 3rd rounder.

Drew Bledsoe would get absolutely nothing in terms of a trade since TD already made it clear that he was going to release him after 3/1 if he doesnt accept a pay cut.

Tell me how we could get more from Bledsoe at this point if every team who wants him (the confused souls that they are) could just WAIT and get him after March?

Travis Henry has more trade value, its very simple.

You are failing to take value into consideration. How many millions of dollars did the skins pay Brunell, who is shot, and far worse than Bledsoe? Hasselback will surely sign for 7 or 8 mil per season, as will Brees.

Henry is a mentally challenged person who can run, but not very fast. There is not one other thing he does well at his position.

Drew is near the top at every phase of career stats. It is harder to get a qb than a banged up, dumb, slow rb who cannot block nor catch. Why are you having a problem accepting this?

  2. :(  :(  :(

A 2nd or 3rd for Bledsoe, thats rich.  AT BEST, the only thing we could get for Drew would be a 5th rounder, and even thats stretching it.  Drew will get released if he doesnt take his pay cut, I dont see us shipping him off to another team in a trade.  Unless the Cards, for some ungodly reason, want him to be a part of that Travis trade.  Which wont happen.

    208928

So you think that Travis Henry is worth more than Drew Bledsoe in terms of a trade?

Yeah, that makes a ton of sense.

  3. There was no rumor.  Mort said that the Cards were interested in Henry, and that the Bills want a #2.  Then Len P said that the Bills may not get a number 2.  This is just a case of teams negotiating thru the media.

    208906

I was alluding to posts on this board that view Henry as such a desired commodity. One post today suggested Henry to Miami for Carey (which is laughable in itself) AND a #4.

Henry's agent will push to make TH seem like this highly sought after back, but when the smoke clears, maybe we can package the 5th round pick we get for him and trade up in one of the lower rounds.

  4. Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

I think LJ signed a pretty posh extension before Green came on, so he's expensive. But, he can play LT and he's pretty decent, so I think he's worth quite a bit.

And, yeah, I forgot that Jones was a FA--I just got excited about the idea that someone else might want him.

I saw on anothewr thread that Bledsoe might be released after all (reported my mortenson, appearently). What do you guys think about that. Personally, I'd love to see Drew in the desert, but that's not an opinion shared universally by Cardinals fans.

    208894

LJ expensive? Perhaps, but it depends on the signing bonus, which would count toward the cards cap should he be traded or cut.

How is Leonard Davis working out? Is he still a guard?

I was at RWS for the Bills/Cards game in October. The cards biggest problem appeared to be special teams, followed by rb and qb. I am guessing that Green will straighten this out in time, and that you guys will soon field a decent team.

  5. I've never done an OT message, but this question might generate some good and for sure... smart ass answers. Any good hints for housebreaking a nine week old female puppy?

    Thanks.

    208878

Puppies need to urinate as soon as they wake up.

You have to be there when she awakens, and go running outside with her to where you want her to go. This gets them into the habit of going in a specific place.

When she is through, give her a treat.

It has always worked for me. Good luck.

  6. I'm 99% certain Boldin will not be traded; he hasn't signed an extension yet, but he will this off season--it's been called a top priority by Cards' brass. The sticking point may be that he could want more than Fitzgerald (and deservedly so, IMO).

The other names you guys brought up (Freddie Jones and LJ Shelton) very well could be invoilved in a trade. I'd say good riddence to bad rubbish in the case of Jones--he really stunk it up this year. He couldn't block my dead grandmother, he doesn't get any YAC, and even his pass-catching skilss seem to be diminishing.

Shelton, on the other hand, is a very good lineman. He battles some injuries this year, and fought himself (seeminly) out of Denny's dog house. i hope he sticks around, but that o-line will be blown up this offseason, and Shelton is a likely casualty, I think. It's be nice to get value for him in the form of Henry.

Personally, if I were the Cardinals, I'd probably start the bidding at a 4th rounder and Jones for Henry and go from there. I'd not want to give up more than a third this year, though.

    208855

    Yes, welcome!

Do you happen to know the contract situation of Shelton?

  7. Good for us, but seriously, what is up with NFL teams not hiring minority coaches? I know I'm playing the race card here, but it's not like the 49ers are going to hire the next Lombardi; they'll probably sign the next dumb !@#$ retread cracker like Norv "Pizza Face" Turner or...Gregg Williams.

    208673

I agree with you in terms of the race issue, but not wrt Gray.

His numbers were very good, but imo he is still growing into being able to handle the DC position.

Too many 3rd and long conversions for a defense with this much talent. He has poise and I think he will improve, but were I an owner, I would not hire him as head coach. Probably someday, but not yet.

    Jmo.

  8. One name - Alex Van Dyke.  (ahead of Amani Toomer & Muhsin Muhammad)

You just never know what resides in the brain.

    208637

Wow, a blast from the past. Good call.

As I recall, he was the 1st pick in round 2 by the dumbest of the dumb, Rich Kotite. What made that pick that even more remarkable was that he had already taken a wr, Keyshawn, with the first selection of the draft!

Kotite was easily the dumbest football executive of our era. There are posters on his board who would have done a better job (myself not included), and I am not joking.

  9. Why?  Jennings is a good football player who has proven that he can play that position very effectively.  If the Bills let him go,  they risk not being able to find a replacement.  If they move Teague to LT,  assuming he succeeds there (questionable given his time in Denver),  who plays C???  You'd just be moving the problem around by doing this,  and would likely weaken the overall play of the LT-LG-C portion of the OL in the process.  I very seriously doubt Teague will be as good a LT as Jennings.

Just bite the bullet and pay the guy,  even if it means paying a little too much.  The Bills need two good,  proven OTs to protect Losman while he's learning.  They've got one,  Jennings,  and Williams is beginning to live up to the draft position.  Now is not the time to start tinkering with it.

    208690

    >>>>> The Bills need two good, proven OTs to protect Losman while he's learning.<<<<<

    This is of course providing:

    1) He is capable of playing, even at a poor level, in the NFL.

    2) The premise that nobody brushes up against him and places him in traction while he is walking from his car to the football stadium.

  10. Ok, I've just checked a bunch of other sites, and it looks like Miami, Oakland, and Arizona are the leading candidates, with Arizona (offering a 2nd) being the most likely.  I have no idea where this info is coming from, but a 2nd rounder would be nice.

    208548

A 2nd from Ariz. would be right in the neighborhood of what was given up for Dillon and Faulk.

Could you explain to me why a team would cough up more for Henry than either of the above mentioned stars?

  11. Is Moulds going to re-structure?

Are Jonas & Pat likely to re-sign?

    Where's Travis likely to go?

Is Drew going to be cut?

Anything else going on?  I need to be caught up on the latest.

    208492

    1) Sure. He actually offered to.

    2) There is no way to know. I doubt it but that's jmo.

    3) To the first team that has an extra 5th round pick they want to waste.

    4) I dont think so, but TD wants a friendlier cap number.

  12. After watching Jennings play the last few years, I still can't figure out how good of a player he is.  He is clearly not a pro-bowl player, but seems solid.  Has had some injury problems.  Seems to do well in pass protection, but the Bills do not run as much to his side.  Is this a reflection of his run blocking or the inconsistent play of the LG?  Thoughts on how Jennings stacks up?

    208425

Imo, Jennings is a good LT, who is clearly inferior to the likes of Pace, Ogden, Jones, and some others. He is probably a less durable Jason Fabini.

The problem is that so few humans can play LT in the NFL, their salaries are huge. I would be very hesitant to give Jennings "Pace" money. Honestly, I would rather give it to Pace.

Other alternatives are Teague (with a FA LG), or perhaps Hopkins if he is a cap cut as a stop gap.

Either way, I hope to not see the Bills give JJ a 6 year contract for 40 million, which he will likely seek.

  13. 6-8 wins with #11 at QB. Do you think the Bills will face a weak schedule again, like the break they caught in Nov-Dec. this year ? That's a huge assumption. Can we expect 10 TD's from the ST's/Defense again ?

    208380

I think that 05 will depend on injuries as much as anything else, perhaps more.

If Vincent and Milloy can play a full season, the turnovers can only increase.

I think that Kelsay will produce more pressure. Spikes and Fletcher are in their prime. Gray will have more experience under his belt, MM too. I am not too concerned about the defense.

As for the STs, most of those guys will remain. What's the problem?

The OL will have had a year of solid coaching, and perhaps a new player or 2. I liken Evans to Laverneous Coles, except he will probabaly be better. A healthy MaGahee will catch, block, and gain approx. 1700 total yards.

No, I am not looking at 6 wins, sorry.

  14. You want an instant alternative and I cannot provide it. I do know that Bledsoe leads to nowhere and kills all hope of this team ever going deep into the playoffs. So to keep him means a 2005 season of 6-8 wins, with him blowing up again in many games. That's comforting ?

Losman isn't ready now. It's January. I'll take my lumps with him, knowing ther may be an actual upside. Why do you think they brought in Sam Wyche ? He develped QB's named Ken Anderson, Joe Montana and Boomer Esiason.

I would rather try Losman than to embrace guaranteed failure with Bledsoe.

    208374

6-8 wins in 2005? Obviously, this would mean 8-10 losses. The numbers don't add up.

When MaGahee came in, this was a different football team that was 9-3 in the last 12 games. At the same time, the OL turned into an average unit (a huge step up) and the special teams played well.

What is it that makes you think that the Bills would finish with as much as 3 losses more than they had this season? Dont worry, Henry wants a trade!:D
