1. After watching Jennings play the last few years, I still can't figure out how good of a player he is.  He is clearly not a pro-bowl player, but seems solid.  Has had some injury problems.  Seems to do well in pass protection, but the Bills do not run as much to his side.  Is this a reflection of his run blocking or the inconsistent play of the LG?  Thoughts on how Jennings stacks up?

Imo, Jennings is a good LT, who is clearly inferior to the likes of Pace, Ogden, Jones, and some others. He is probably a less durable Jason Fabini.

The problem is that so few humans can play LT in the NFL, their salaries are huge. I would be very hesitant to give Jennings "Pace" money. Honestly, I would rather give it to Pace.

Other alternatives are Teague (with a FA LG), or perhaps Hopkins if he is a cap cut as a stop gap.

Either way, I hope to not see the Bills give JJ a 6 year contract for 40 million, which he will likely seek.

  2. 6-8 wins with #11 at QB. Do you think the Bills will face a weak schedule again, like the break they caught in Nov-Dec. this year ? That's a huge assumption. Can we expect 10 TD's from the ST's/Defense again ?

I think that 05 will depend on injuries as much as anything else, perhaps more.

If Vincent and Milloy can play a full season, the turnovers can only increase.

I think that Kelsay will produce more pressure. Spikes and Fletcher are in their prime. Gray will have more experience under his belt, MM too. I am not too concerned about the defense.

As for the STs, most of those guys will remain. What's the problem?

The OL will have had a year of solid coaching, and perhaps a new player or 2. I liken Evans to Laverneous Coles, except he will probabaly be better. A healthy MaGahee will catch, block, and gain approx. 1700 total yards.

No, I am not looking at 6 wins, sorry.

  3. You want an instant alternative and I cannot provide it. I do know that Bledsoe leads to nowhere and kills all hope of this team ever going deep into the playoffs. So to keep him means a 2005 season of 6-8 wins, with him blowing up again in many games. That's comforting ?

Losman isn't ready now. It's January. I'll take my lumps with him, knowing ther may be an actual upside. Why do you think they brought in Sam Wyche ? He develped QB's named Ken Anderson, Joe Montana and Boomer Esiason.

I would rather try Losman than to embrace guaranteed failure with Bledsoe.

6-8 wins in 2005? Obviously, this would mean 8-10 losses. The numbers don't add up.

When MaGahee came in, this was a different football team that was 9-3 in the last 12 games. At the same time, the OL turned into an average unit (a huge step up) and the special teams played well.

What is it that makes you think that the Bills would finish with as much as 3 losses more than they had this season? Dont worry, Henry wants a trade!:D

  4. Imo, the Falcons are clearly the team with the best chance to beat NE.

Bellichik IS a defensive genious. He can prepare for anything, but Vick can do the unexpected. I dont think that there is a way to prepare for a qb with a strong arm and can run for 119 yards in a playoff game.

Vick is an exception to every football "rule." He is probably the most gifted athlete ever to play the game.

Yeah, I think that we are looking at a Falcons superbowl win. This means they wil probably lose to the eagles.

  5. Having a rough day?

    <_<  :)  :)

    THANK YOU, MORT!!! :D

    207685

Actually no. I am fine, thank you very much.

I am all for Drew taking a cut. I just dont hate him, nor do I live my life obsessed with him. I also fail to blame him for all that is wrong on the Bills nor the world.

    How are you doing?

  6. Drew Bledsoe????

    207656

I have not always agreed with you, but I always thought that you were a smart and accomplished person and have respected you.

I still do, but I will tell you point blank that comparing Drew to Blake is pure stupidity. It serves to diminish the validity of of any of your hate posts, and even exposes them as such.

Bro, it is not to late to retract this stupid analogy in terms of talent, the role Drew played in fan interest, and keeping the team in WNY, etc.

  7. I still think the fact that we lost to the Pitt JV was huge......compared to losing to say, the Pats JV. I think TD - and probably MM - were both truly embarrassed, and I think they both place a lot of the blame on Drew's shoulders. TD works too hard to find talent for this team to allow Cowher to put in is scrubs and essentially toy with us in OUR house for 60 minutes.  I think if TD really is making a move on Drew this early, that may be a big reason as to why.

    207605

Please dont be offended, but I rarely agree with your postings. Imo, you are not only obsessed with Drew, but you place far too much importance in the qb position.

Having said this, the above was a great post. I forgot the fact of how a game vs. Pitt was huge to TD and MM. Thanks for pointing this out.

I am not sure how much credence I lend to this "Mort" quote, but at face value, I like it. Even as one who thinks that Drew should enter next year as the starter, a pay cut is not an out of line request. I also strongly believe that TD wants this money, and the savings from restructuring Moulds) because he has a particular player in mind. Jones? Pace? Who knows, but this is not only what the Bills need, but a probable selling point to both Eric and Drew to take a cut and stay.

With cap space and a good draft, the Bills are ready to make their move in 05.

Btw, I hope that JP is as good as you JP worshippers think that he is. Big Ben looked rather pedestrian vs. the jests, right? JP, because someone leaned against him and placed him in traction, enters 05 as a virtual rookie.

The steelers are loaded, but they are going down. Big Ben may develop some day. Right now, he is a plodding rookie on a team stacked with talent.

I dont think it will work due to your hate and rather simple habit of blaming all woes of the Buffalo Bills football team on the sole shoulders of Drew, but I ask you to consider just how awful BR looked yesterday vs the jests, and then focus on how Drew lit their silly asses up.

You haters dont want Drew because he "can't win a superbowl." I respect this but counter with the question...How many rookie qbs HAVE won the superbowl?

  8. Often looking back makes you just cringe at the things that could've been and the things that shoulda been.  But in this case, I think it was a brilliant move.  This years draft is supposedly a thin bunch.  What QB would be taking this year?  Especially now that Leinart is staying at USC.  The offseason would be looking for some FA QB, and we'd be stuck with a late round Pick.

Now we have JPL who is a "gunslinger", who is a tough SOB, and one that has a year under Clements and Wyche.  Not to mention that this offseason, he gets MORE time with these guys.  I'm worried that we won't have Tom Clements for next year, as he is a great coaching prospect.

He also has the backing of his teamates, which is a great asset for this year.

My hunch, DB gets hurt early, and JPL comes in, never to give his spot up again.  Kind of like what happened in NE.  Now, if we could just follow that script and put a couple of SB in our pockets......... :D

    206287

    >>>Now we have JPL who is a "gunslinger", who is a tough SOB,<<<

    Tough SOB? Tough SOB?????????????????????????????????

Hello!!! He ran into a db and was laid up for months.

It is hard to imagine how "tough" you would say he was if he didn't go down like the Titanic after brushing up against a comparitively small defender. :(:(

Sorry, dont let me stop you. Continue on and tell us what a badass JP is.

  9. I never liked the trade and still do not.

Imo, if they thought JP was SO good, they should have taken him at 13, but I am glad that they did not. Evans is something special.

As for JP, we gave up 7 spots in the first, and a 2nd and 5th. Someone brushed against him and he was incapacitated for months.

He may have had a good injury record in college, but this is the NFL. I would much rather have the 05 first round pick, and the two we gave away last year than a huge question mark who was the 4th qb drafted.

Of course, many liken him to Favre, so I guess I am out of line here.

  10. Well here's the thing.  The reason I think he will fetch a 3rd at least is because teams want a 1300 yard back.  The fact that he can't pick up the blitz and can't catch usually escapes teams eager to bring in a guy that can get them more than 20 yards a game like the Dolphins had.

    204653

The dolphins are eerily similar to the Bills of a few years ago BFII. They have zero blocking, and weak qbs.

Hate to say it, but they are just a qb and an OL or 2 from contending. AS a Bills fan, I would rather see them sign Brees than Pace or Jones, and I am totally serious.

  11. It seems difficult to determine Henry's worth when we don't even know what trading partners the Bills will deal with. Even comparing backs on a statistical basis (ie Faulk and Dillon) isn't all that accurate because the assets and liabilities of potential suitors are likely different than those cases were. Henry's value varies a great deal between teams. Bottom line is that if a team is desperate enough...anything can happen.

    204614

You really do raise a great point. Certainly he has a varied worth between clubs.

What I think will drive down his value is that the only asset he brings is an ability to run. His lack of any other skills, injuries, personality issues, and the fact that he is seeking a trade do little to enhance the possibility of the Bills obtaining very much imo, but let's hope that I am way off base here.

  12. Joking with you

I think we could get a second out of him, but that's only because there are some teams with no running game that will pony up for him.

    It's not because I think that's what he's worth.  He's probably worth a 3rd.

    204595

If we get a 3rd, I will be the happiest man on TSW. I would go right to the college board and bug R.Rich and the Jokeman about OGs, OCs and cbs.

    Look for a 5th. :)

  13. And then there was the time in my office when I asked one of the fat ladies (not that it matters that she's fat, but it doesn't help that she's like 300 pounds) there to be nice to the dumbass in the next cube over, just to piss him off...friggin' loon gets so incensed when fat people are nice to him, he has to run to the internet to tell everyone he doesn't know how he wets his pants over it.

  That was a good one...
