Mark, it would not be a huge shock to see this happen, but imo the needs at CB and OG are SO huge, that a DT with the first pick seems improbable.

They tell you to scratch off 10 numbers on your sheet, which comes in every paper. Nine of them were correct, but # 13 was not. They claim that it should have been # 12.
Three like amounts are needed to win. One of mine was in # 13.

My wife called me on saturday, and happily informed me that we won $1,000 in the Daily News scratch off game. I strongly urged her to not spend the money too fast. Luckily she agreed to do so. I checked the ticket, and it was properly scratched off, it was indeed a winner, or so I thought.
On sunday morning, I bought the News once again, and on pages 1 and 3, they pointed out that there was a mistake, and they printed a wrong number in the instructions. Results? No $1,000 for me!
I was a little peeved until we went to he sisters' house in the afternoon. She had "won" $10,000. A relative of her husband who is poor had "won" $100,000!!!
I gaurantee, people maxed out credit cards, dined at Smith and Wollenskys, purchased jewelry, etc. As I type, there are lines of people at the Daily News Bldg. waiting to collect their "prize." There are police officers assigned, with barricades.
People in NYC are angrier in general than in other parts of the nation. This is a friggin mess. I could have used the G note, but my heart goes out to the poor people that truly needed the money.
Just another crazy day in a crazy town.No Such Luck

They are a little less than kind to Tim Allen, no?

If TD drafted a CB in round 2 this year, this board will probably crash from all the "WTF is TD doing?" related posts, but I think it's a good pick incase we lose out on Clements.
The rest of the picks I love except for Clarett. He may be good, but I don't want to see that prick in a Bills uniform.
Agreed. At this point, the Bills are in need of 1 corner, possibly 2.
As much as I would love to see a blocker with our first selection, the Bills have a history of drafting cbs with their first pick, and not keeping them very long. This is, imo, not the worst philosophy mind you.
I for one would rather not see too much cap space tied to this position.

I understand the concern regarding RB depth behind MaGahee. Henry basically cleared out of Buffalo immediately after the season and has no intention of returning. I don't think he'd even report , if he was still on the roster.
The Bills should just move him for anything they can get at this point. Find some depth in the draft or a late camp cut for a backup.
Agreed. If the Bills can upgrade the OL, I am thinking that there are lots of players who can run behind it.
Also, it appears to be a good thing that there are so many blue chip rbs in the draft this year. The Bills dont have the pick nor the need to go after one, and can hopefully find a kid who can run in a later round.

Not enough. I am thinking he should get a similar deal to Orlando Pace, if not much more.
Travis, with his brains, ball handling skills, blocking ability, pin point passing routes, great hands, ball control, balance, exemplary off field conduct is a hot commodity. His w/l record as a starter truly is stunning! THAT is why TDs phone is ringing off the hook with offers for this superstar.
In fact, TD was last seen at a kennel. He was looking for an attack dog to keep other GMs away from him because they are coming at all hours of the night, insisting on a deal for Travis!
Another way to "soothe" things would be for RW to issue him a personal apology for not giving him enough respect.
I have an idea! How about if Mr. Wilson offers him 10% of the team! Just a thought.

If a team was willing to take Travis on draft day, I am thinking that we would be lucky to move up 5 spots in round 2. Personally, I am doubting that he will even bring us that.
At this point, especially looking at the facts that Alexander and James are said to be available for a 2nd, and that this is a deep draft in RBs, Travis Henry is probably all but worthless.
TD should have dumped him before the 04 season.

My dad always said "your actions will always drown out your words" So I for one stopped listening to JP's words in the few press conferences and interviews he has had so far and further investigated his behavioural patterns.
1) He injured his leg trying to get extra yards (in a practice!, of all things) rather than scooting out of bounds a few yards shorter. Now I know some of you call that stupidity, but if you really think about it, it also shows determination and "heart" things I like to see in a QB.
2) Sam Wyche has been quoted as saying that he has had a hard time getting his work done because JPL has been spending so much extra time asking him questions above and beyond regular film study and playbook work. That tells me that this guy wants to be the best, well prepared QB on any given Sunday!
3) He was the first guy on the team after the season was over in the film room, working out and preparing for next season even before the Bledsoe announcement was made!.... and during the Bledsoe PConf MM said that JP was studying film as he spoke!
I don't know if this guy is THE GUY that we've been waiting for since Jimbo left us in a wake of Todd Collins, RJ, DB, mess of never-weres but if you look at what he's doing right now as we sit here at our computers, I believe that no-one out there is trying harder to represent their football team and make it a winner than this kid. I can wholeheartedly support this guy based on what I've seen so far.
Thanks for the reminder of that profound "Big Cat" quote.
The next time I am tempted to read bullsh!t such as "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost, I will know at once to instead reflect upon these profound words from our new superstar qb, and relish the memories of what he proved that he can do in 04.!!
It is no wonder why sculptors are standing by, ready to recreate his bust and rush their works into Canton!!!

Who knows what the truth about JPL will truly be, at this early stage. I think the fact that he's spending all his time in Buffalo learning is a good sign. I also like his attitude, as evidenced by that "what's so funny, Big Cat?" episode. And he's got all the physical tools you want to see. So hopefully the head will match the body and we'll see a hell of a QB in Buffalo! That being said though, he's got a TON to prove.
OK, you got me. This post makes sense, and I truly have zero rebuttal. Too bad, whereas I am in the mood to be a wiseass.

Nice job, bro......so far we have many more reasons to be optimistic about this kid than we do to be pessimistic. He clearly appears dedicated to the Bills and the opportunity they've given him as the starter. Im excited to see what he can do.....Obviously he'll have a period of time where he'll need to work through the growing pains, but if he can minimize his mistakes in the process it will help this team tremendously. Willis has got to stay healthy and our D has to build on what the established last year. If they can do that while JP works out the kinks and gets the experience he needs, I like our chances of making some noise in '05
Please, stop selling JP short, OK?
I fully expect him to break all NFL passing records within a 5 year span, six at the most. After that he will probably choose to retire, and will be enshrined in Canton before his 32nd birthday.
Please, show a tad more respect for JP when you post in the future. This guy has proven a TON! Wake up, and pay him the homage that he is due, all right?!
Sheesh!

The one only "Hill (ary) Bill?"
Everybody is bound to crack a few eggs. IMO, still think her intrinsic good out weighs the bad.
But Bill, I really am not surprised. I understand you as a good, loving family man... I really respect that.
WARNING! WARNING! LAMP BELOW!
On the other side of things... What surprises many here is my rather conservative side... Something that they just can't equate with what they think is liberal puke I spew.
I am due to post (when I get the gumption) a scathing and rather conservative review how the left in this country have watered down what competition means and how we approach and teach it to our kids... Which leads me to...
BTW... My son grabbed 2nd place, last night at his Cub Pack Pinewood Derby with his limo "Python". As his "mechanic" I felt rather "out foxed" by a technicality (which I thought about, yet, didn't think I had the technical skill to manually machine) that the other father-son combo employed and won by half a car length. If the finish line was another foot farther down the track, superior craftmenship whould have won out in the end (since the winner stopped dead on the track and second place took it off the track)!
I guess my son is learning what it means to be a Bills fan? I told him after the race he could "fire" me as his mechanic (boy that was a loaded question!) and he said no way! May God bless that angelic little boy!
Anyway, it is all about being a good sport, having fun, and congratulating the winner! But, hey... Isn't everbody SECOND...
Later...
Congrats to your son as a competitor, and to you as a father.
When you do your review of the left, please consider including how they have stopped being freedom demanding "McGovernites" and become intolerant, dictatorial, behavioral controlling makers of rules. The pot smoking, acid tripping people who were frolicking nude in the mud at Woodstock are now on campus stifling free speech, and in NYC purporting a smoking ban (in bars), and passing laws against loud air conditioners and bells on ice cream trucks. Deny this at your leisure. I know it to be true.
Btw, being a Bills fan, imho, IS something special for children. My daughters view me as a hard core man who will NEVER give up. They have seen me not abandon my beloved Bills, and know that it will never happen. I have bought them Bills shirts and they wear them with pride. The Bills symbolize more than just a football team. They are a cold weather franchise in a depressed economy, yet the fans just wont quit. They have seen me accosted at Disney, local gas stations, and other places by other Bills fans who saw me wearing the logo. They know how special it is.
My oldest wears Bills clothes at an Ivy League college. Fellow students, knowing where she is from, are often confused. Truthfully, she knows little about the team, although Big Sam is her favorite because she saw his touchdown dance and was stunned.
What she DOES know, is to stand by her beliefs, and to not quit. Her sisters feel the same way.
Yeah, being a Bills fan IS something special.

May God bless you and offer you a speedy and full recovery.
My compliments to your wife for the support and love that she brings to you.
Please be sure to let us know how you are doing.

Tacitly.
Didn't somebody mention Wal-Mart and Tennessee a while back?
What was that all about?
Wal-Mart undercutting prices, paying depressed labor costs... Then having the personnel office tell perspective employees where they can get government assistance to "bridge the gap" so to speak.
What did it amount to? And extra 4K of tax dollars are spent to keep a Wal-Mart employee working?
Geesh! What a convoluted way to beat the system and line your pockets while racing towards the bottom.
And I thought I was pretty effed up... Oh, WAIT!
Original topic:
Wasn't Hitler's fear (Stalin) on his "left"?
It must be a "right"-"left" thingy?
Great post EIL. I fully agree with every word about Wal Mart (surprised?
. Yeah, fight the unions, use illegal aliens, and let the government pay. Nice if you can get away with it.
Btw, guess who was once on the advisory board of Wal Mart?
Hint......the initials are HC. Care to comment?

Cowart at half speed would have still be a bargain at that price. He once was a very dominating player. Why does everyone here feel the need to bad mouth a player once he leaves the Bills? We have lost some very good players because of the cap (everyone has). So, so why not just admit it and move on?
I would have been thrilled if the Bills traded Henry for Cowart.
-
That is taking too big of a chance.
The Raiders slapped the tag on Woodson, and he couldn't sign it fast enough. He will now be gauranteed 10 mil this season and become a ufa all over again in 06.
Imo, if Nate is not extended this season, he is gone.
-
After we didn't sign the last few prospects I'm glad we didn't have a knee jerk reaction and go and sign another Patriot cast-off. To go one step further this inactive move also signifies to me that there is a definite course TD wants to maintain. Chin up, eyes open, when this is all over and done I think we are going to have that long sought after satisfaction that we all been waiting for on our offensive line. I just hope that it's not too offensive.
Any other input on this train of thought?
My only train of thought wrt to this matter is that the pats will NOT be a superbowl contender this season.
As a franchise, they have my respect, but I am thinking that in 05, they are a 9-7 team at best.
They lost too many players and too many coaches.
-
It is certainly too early to tell, but, so far, it looks as if TD made the right decision on getting Losman last year.
Another thing, since when has being "cocky" been necessarily a bad thing in sports? Few complain about TO being "too cocky" or Shaq being "too cocky". Why is it a supposed problem ONLY with Losman?
Well. I guess that settles that! With this kind of good news, and the Bills getting either Robert Gallery or Jason Taylor in a trade for Travis Henry, I am thinking that the Lombardi Trophy is all but gauranteed!
I cant wait for JP to be enshrined to Canton. He already deserves it for his stellar performance in 04!
-
Probably not, unless we cough up the 1st round pick in 06. I would be hesitant to do this, because it might be a high one.....we dont know.
Maybe we can trade Travis to a team that would let us move up 5 or so spots in round 2 if there is a player that TD likes, this if any team would go for it.
