1. The dirty little secret here is that it looks pretty doubtful that Jennnings is going to commamd anything near what LTs have gotten in the past from the market.  This is not because of Jennings value compared to some of the other folks eho hsve gotten big dollars in the past who are not as good as Jennings, it is because ofsupply and demand.

Bascially there are 32 LT contracts which are the market Jennings will be mining.

    Subtract from that market:

    1. 8 teams already pay LTs 8 of the top 19 OL cap hits

    2. 12-16 other teams have already committed big log term contracts to players like Clifton and Petitgout and are not in the LT market.

    3. Of the 12 remaining teams subtract out as competitors for the Bills teams which are likely close or beyong the cap even though they could use Jennings services and we can give JJ a better deal without sweating AT appears to be in this boat because after a huge outlay for Vick and previous FA commitments like PP they are likley going to be cutting players merely to mske the cap much less generate cash for JJ.

    4. Whoever has cap room and is left have the ability to pay for better LTs like Orlando Pace, Walter Jones or Tra Thomas who are probable FAs.

JJ only has to get one off-market deal and there are plenty of fools running NFL teams, but when the smoke  clears it will not surprise me at all if though the Bills will give JJ the biggest contract he has ever seen in his life, the market will mandate that it be for much alot  much less than the salary cap hits commended by FA LTs in this league in the recent past.

Another great post FFS. Personally, it seems clear to me that JJ wants out of Buffalo, and might even be willing to accept LESS money from a team of his choice (Atl.) than the Bills.

I hold on to the hope that TD, via a Franchise Tag, might be able to salvage some compensation for delivering him to the team of his choice ala Peerless, even if said compensation is less than a 1st round pick.

    One can only hope.

  2. I'm torn, I hate the imposition on liberty.

And yet, I enjoy the smoke-free environment. It's a complex issue.

    217810

Joe, imo, the issue is not really what YOU enjoy, NOR the rights of individual citizens who choose to smoke.

I think that the choice should rest on the shoulders of the owner of the property, and I would be fine with a sign OUTSIDE the establishment alerting patrons as to whether or not they will be "exposed."

What is happening to you? Are you becoming a leftist? :D:w00t::P:P

  3. It's not governmental action.  It's private actors - perfectly legal.  The Constitution only applies to governments.

    218593

When if these "private actors" decided that African-Americans are more prone to high blood pressure than whites, or Gays were more likely to contract AIDS than are hetros?

How do you think that would fly?

  4. OBSESSED.

Oh Dude, cant you even read a post and place it in the context to which it was written?

    >>>>Conceivably WM might have made a differnce but it looks really doubtful.<<<<

The above is a quote from FFS. THAT is what I responded to. I did not initiate the thread nor the topic, did I? HE made a statement to which I responded.

Were there other factors in the 0-4 start? Of Course!!! I am still pissed about Big Mike coming into camp as a walrus, but will forgive him if he is in shape this year.

Why is it not OK to respond to a post about which one has a disagreement?

I dare say that you too may have issues with the assertion made by FFS. Or, are you telling me that it is doubtful that WM, if healthy and inserted from the opening game, could not have conceivably resulted in another win for the Buffalo Bills?

Forget the BS and answer a football question. Is that asking too much? :P

  5. No, and even if I did there's a difference between believing someone is something bad and stating it as fact.  One is personal opinion, the other, if false, is libel.  I personally don't care for Travis.  I think he's a punk.  But I've never met him, so I know I'm only going by snippets of what I've seen of him.  But it's not like if he passed by me in the mall, that I'd pull my daughters closer to me...

That Dan is strictly up to you. Do you want to drop it or continue to attack me?

  6. thats because you made a suggestion that was just as, if not more retarded than this one yesterday...

for the record, no way in hell with i ditch fletch for bell...this is football with team chemistry, not madden on your playstation...

    218341

Take a timeout from being a judgemental dope, and consider that just because you, in your eternal wisdom, do not agree with a suggestion on a message board, it may not be a "retarded" suggestion.

Is that too much to ponder? OK, I will dumb it down for you!

Neither you nor I are GMs of an NFL team. There are reasons for this. With me so far? Your views, however much esteem you hold them in, are as likely to be wrong as are mine.

You can sit there smirking, and type away with a smug and all knowing attitude, but trust me, you and I are just fans on a message board. It would suit you well to stop playing expert and accept this truth. OK Coach Parcells? :P :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

  7. Prolly a little of both. When Rueben Brown and Moulds say it I believe them since they have demonstrated their love of Buffalo. If McGahee says that, well... I'll assume his PR guy told him to say that.

    218257

I think that Kelly had a respect for Bills fans, or at least the edge we provided him. Didn't he once refer to home games as playing in front of "80,000 sick people?" :)

  8. I think we should resurrect public stoning for this farg.

Something greusome, horrible, inhumane and painful.

How about a boiling oil bath? Disembowelment? The death of a thousand cuts?

    Gimme some good ones, people.

    218170

They should make him go to a bar in which someone lights up a cigarette with the consent of the bar owner.

Sorry, I couldn't resist and am NOT making light of the subject.

I did domestics for 3 years and have seen this and worse. There is not enough punishment for this person unless there truly is a hell.

  9. Why do baseball players, regardless of the score, give each other high fives after every homerun? Sincerity? I highly doubt it.

I would like to believe that football players care a bit more, especially in a cold weather, working class area such as WNY, but it is wishful thinking.

  10. You make a valid point, can the Bills improve from 9-7 with Drew? I think so, but the burning question is:  How much can they improve and what are your expectations of this team for 2005?

There are just so many examples from the past few years where Drew does NOT get it done, especially in road games and against good defenses.  Sure the Bills won a few games on the road this past year with Drew under the helm, but not against very good defenses (Miami being the possible lone exception)

At this point, Im just ready to see what J.P can do now.

    218091

My concern is that TV, LM, NC, Big Sam and others may either see their skills fade or be gone. With free agency and the salary cap, there is often a very small window to make a move.

An improvement from 9-7 is tough to argue with imo.

  11. Bill,

I am just addressing the FACTS that Oneida has presented in this thread.  People like to throw things out there as FACT and then not be able to back them up.  i.e.  DB's passer rating for the last 12 games is JUST under 100.

To your question....Yes,  DB did perform better in 2004 than in 2003, and yes, it was primarily because the team(OL, WR and RB) positions got better.  That being said, I feel that it is time to turn the page on Bledsoe IF Losman is ready to go by the start of the season.

    218079

Thanks to you and Rico for the answers. To me, this now begs the question....Will the Bills (other than at qb) improve once again in 05?

I think they will. JMac will have had a year. MW might come to camp in shape. MaGahee for a whole season. Evans imo will take the leap to where he is almost great. A lucky draft pick. I could go on.

If I am correct, wouldn't the team probably improve from 9-7 even with Drew?

  12. I've created at least 2 posts with lengthy facts.  One you chose to ignore, the other you chose to cherry pick one stat from and claim it is useless.  Your credibility, since you've decided to impugn mine, is based on what...ignoring the whole of others' statements, jumping on the bandwagon mentality...

I have a right to back Bledsoe while the rising tide is against him and I choose to do so with facts not rhetoric.  As far as wishing Jp ill, I don't, I strongly believe bringing him in early is absurd.

    218042

    "Bandwagon Mentality" huh?

Right you are OL! 2 things are "IN" on tsw right now, in order:

    1) Drew sucks. Not making the playoffs was his fault.

    2) Travis Henry is a highly sought after commodity. The 9-3 record after his benching meant nothing, and other GMs wont notice.

Disagree with either of these 2 "facts" and the experts (you know, the ones who know SO much more than you) crawl out of their holes and pile on as if THEY have all the answers and YOU are a fool.

The board was not always like this. :)
