Really ? Was there really any reason to convert Kordell Stewart from WR to QB ? I argue that the switch eventually ended Stewart's career when he could have excelled as a Reggie Bush-type player. I happen to fall into the camp who is anti-Cowher and am relieved that he declined a meeting. It took a steady stream of pro-bowlers (drafted by their organization) to make him look good. I think a better coach, in the same 15 year period, would have won 1-2 more Superbowls with the talent they had.

That. And I don't trust Shanahan's skills at anything more than coaching. I hope this point does not become the deal breaker if we indeed are pursuing him. I mean what happens if Shanahan says 'full control or bust' ? I say we call it 'bust' and move on to a more amicable and competent GM-HC combo. -

I agree with you that if we are going to get a GM as well as a new HC, then the GM should be hired first. But other than that, I disagree with your second paragraph. We have tried a variety of first time HCs with dismal success. We have tried a loser coach with equally spectacular results. We have to play it safe right now and that chance lies with a winning coach, preferably a SB-winning one. Of the choices, I personally prefer Shanahan as he is an offensive minded coach and paired with a good DC, can do wonders for the team. Ofcourse, there is always an argument to be made that it was Elway who was the main reason for his SB victories. But, I think it is a combination of a good personnel and an excellent coach that wins championships. He will have a chance to choose his QB so we will see -

As my comments became such a big deal, let me apologize to you. Your apology was not required as there really wasn't any wrong doing. I have valued your posts in the past so should have taken that equity into consideration before writing that first post. I hope we can put this issue behind us and concentrate on discussing real topics. -
I totally agree. Shanny and Phillips will be a great coaching duo. If only they get FO support in building a good team, we can be golden. But ofcourse, that is a LOT of 'ifs'

Yea I have realized I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. My point was to not give a teaser but to post the story when available. In any case, I am not going to pursue this any further as it is a worthless waste of time arguing over this triviality when there are more interesting points to debate. -
I am not a runner so don't know about the marathons. My thing is doing my cardio on an elliptical or high incline fast walking on a treadmill. I, for one, do not buy into this slow exercise method because I think you will have to work out for a lot longer to achieve the same results. The basic (and obvious) item is that you have to intake less than you use+exercise to lose weight. The fat burning will come and can be aided by adding strength training to your workout routine. In general, stick to the basics and do what you can do consistently over the rest of your life. New fangled workouts and diets only work for so long.

Thanks, Bill. My earlier post (for which a couple of people slammed me for) was wondering why start a post saying 'a story is coming'. Why not start a thread when the story is done and available for reading? kegtapr - see above RayFinkle - yes, I know who jw is Beerball - do the kids really have to be told on Christmas Eve that 'tomorrow there will be a present for you' ? -

What was the point of your post ? -
Then again, I recall this same Jim Kelly singing Trent's praises last year.

Shanahan could be Bills' top choice
Fan in Chicago replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great ! Considering what Levy did with his choice of HC and draft picks*, his advice will only serve to drive this franchise even more into the ground. * I don't subscribe to the theory that he did not have much to do in the draft -

"So the question looms: Are Marv Levy and Ralph Wilson ready to make a bold move?" Levy ? -
Don't worry - its nothing that a Bills fan would understand

Then again, I am not sure I ever saw the terms of DJ's renewed contract.

Jauron's firing was to appease the now apathetic fan base. Not much will happen in the rest of the season to either salvage it or prepare for next season.

Fitzpatrick expected to start
Fan in Chicago replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know your post was not directed at me. But I have always been skeptical about Trent but wanted desperately for him to be the one so we get stability at that position. However, at this point, putting Fitz in does nothing at all unless Trent has totally given up on the game/Bills/season. If that is the case, then I would cut him outright a la Hobert. -

If it is desperation move on Jauron's part to save his job, I think it is stupid. Reminiscent of the JP-Holcomb situation. If it is because the coaches are convinced that either Trent has given up or has post-concussion problems then I am indifferent to this move. My opinion is that if Trent is healthy, he should play -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Fan in Chicago replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with you here. No matter who is right or wrong, we are now left with no QB hope for the future. It will take a re-build but this time it better be well thought out and executed. Until such time as the OL and coaching problems are fixed I would vote against drafting a QB high in next year's draft. For example, if we take a QB with our first round pick without addressing what kind of offense we are going to run and who the OL (tackles) will be, we will set this franchise back another few years. As it is, this is a lost decade (okay maybe not the entire decade) - at least let us plan on making the next one ours. -
I like what Owens did yesterday.........
Fan in Chicago replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes the decision to put Fitz in was very interesting but I think quite pointless. At this time of the season, with the talent (and I use the word VERY loosely) we have on the coaching staff and on the OL, what can possibly brew ? The only thing we can do now is to use the remaining games to: - re-shuffle the OL: Levitre at LT, Wood at C and put the others wherever you want as they aren't doing a stellar job anyway. - bench TO and play Johnson. Is Hardy healthy yet ? I see he was out again this last Sunday - Continue to play Trent and complete the evaluation -
Something bad happened today :(
Fan in Chicago replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Happened to me too but I think it was during the Miami game. I just don't feel excited about a good drive or disappointed in a blown opportunity. I used to tell my ex-GFs that the day I stop feeling possessive about you is when you know I stopped loving you. Unfortunately for me, I am so attached to the Bills that I cannot dump them. -
Yes it could have - if the Bills had won.
-
That reasoning does not work in this case. He is a great coach and has a good team. But that decision is stupid which is not to comment on any other aspect of his coaching or his team.

BB is calling Simon as we speak
-
Sure he did. But from their own 30 ? With no timeouts and with the lead ? Not sure if you are rationalizing that decision but I think it was wrong.
