  1. Don't try to sell me that he is the right man for the job blah, blah, blah. While some like me will try to be optimistic, no one can honestly say that they expect anything great from Jauron. This pick is obviously a situation where they chose a good buddy than the right man for the job; I hope it pans out for he will definitely have to earn the fan's respect by having instant success and turn around. At least if Sherman was hired their would be a little more optimism and a little tolerance to give him a chance if he had a failed season. At the first sign of losing most will turn on Jauron for he has proven nothing in his previous job except incompetence and failure. If he turns us around then while there maybe a few (definitely RW and ML) that will act like they knew it all along. But looking at it beforehand and doing your homework this should have been an easy decision. If it wasn't for our failed success with rookie coaches I'd rather follow the trend of the rest of the NFL and hired new blood. But since we wanted a head coach with experience Sherman was the only solid pick among the men interviewed. Any other choice than Jauron if a failure would at least give a little slack. Let's just hope for the Bill's sake that Dick does a good job for if he doesn't then you will definitely see support for the Bills organization fade and Wilson and his staff will look like complete idiots.
  2. Biggest key difference: Moulds says he is willing to renogiate and remain a Bill; Muhammed wasn't willing to do the same to remain a Panther.
  3. TD's biggest failures has beenthe hiring of weak coaches who wouldn't challenge his authority like Cowher did in Pittsburg. The talent he has assemble, with some hits and misses has been adequate. Putting together a coaching staff to fully utilize this talent has been his downfall. ANd to those who act like MW is a TOTAL BUST, plays like Barney and gives up 35 sacks alone a year: it's mihty funny that once he went out the lineup McGahees running numbers fell off as well.
  4. I live in Hampton Roads, VA and I have saw it almost a 100 times as I watch ESPN on the regular. I love it and hate it at the same time. All I know is that when we finally win it all; this commercial as well as the one they did earlier this year for Fantasy football in which the moron says: "JP Losman is a reincarnation of Kenny Stabler!" as well as past failures will all be shown in support as it will fill like the Bills have finally overcome; it would be bad if Chris Berman isn't there to say that the Bills have FINALLY CIRCLED THAT WAGON AND ARE RIDING IT ON THE PROMISE LAND!
  5. I agree that he has been scrutinized a little too much, even though he has underachieved based on his pay. He is still a better than average tackle when healthy; not the total scrub some have made him out to be. I think he could fit in a RG as it wouldn't be so unnatural and out of position but who knows if he comes back in shape and motivated he could resume his position at RT and Peters can move to RT as he has the talent BUT the key word is IF and that is the problem with MW, the same with the Bills in general: IF they come in motivated and IF they play to potential but my keyword is WHEN?
  6. If you take away that one bad game in which he threw 3 picks against the Pats playing in the snow for the 1st time his numbers don't look as bad for a second year QB. As a matter of fact the reason for his poor completion percentagein that second half of the season came mostly from scrambling outside the pocket and throwing the ball away trying to make something happen versus Holcomb who is too quick to dump the ball off. It's like watching the Bengals game yesterday with Kitna who is a Holcomb clone: once the Steelers adjusted and realized that with his arm there are throws he just couldn't make and they adjusted and shut the Bengals. Kitna looked good for stretches but he is nothing more than a system QB, just like Holcomb. Who knows if JP will develop like Palmer but I know Bengals fans are glad that Marvin Lewis didn't stay with a system QB who would win some games and make them competitive; he took a chance and was rewarded handsomely.
  7. I wish we had the #3 pick ONLY if we trade down and get multiple picks in strong draft; especially one strong in OL,DE and DE, our greatest needs. While we could do better at skill positions than Losman, McGahee, Evans, etc they have all shown some flashes of brilliances and until proven won't break the bank so they are more than adequate. A high draft pick is a boom or bust; take MW for example. If we can get a quality LT or DT who in this draft may be a #8 pick versus a top 5 pick in previous drafts then we will win out as there won't be as much of a financial obligation if the guy doesn't pan out but he will be a top talent and victim of a strong draft. You don't have to have the best QB,RB, WR's to win in this league; but if they are all better than average and play well together combine with a good OL then you can compete to win it all.
  8. While there was change, it wasn't a drastic makeover like RW promised. Everyone knew TD was going to be canned along with Clemens (even though MM called the shots most of the season); so what? I guess to him bringing back Levy in as GM or similar position is big news and a drastic change. But other than that nothing really changed excpet we will have a new GM and a new offensive coordinator - things we already expected. Drastic is admitting that MM is a poor coach, firing him and swallow his mediocre salary in efforts to but a better person in his position; now that's drastic!
  9. Don't fall for the trap look at your eyes. If TD must go then MM has to go as he has bumbled in every aspect of the game this year.
  10. But I hate to say it he is dead on as this is not a major shakeup like promise; it actually is a step back. Do you really think Levy is an upgrade to Donahoe as a GM, a position he has never handled? As a coach he wasn't even the best X and O type of coach. I'm not trying to bash Levy or say he can't get the job done. But Donahoe biggest mistake was with not assembling a good O-line and poor coach choices. Think about it; no matter how much blame you want to throw at TD, was the talent our biggest problem the past few years or the coaching and playcalling? That has been the biggest frustrations with this team has been underachieving. So since TD hired these incompetent coaches mainly because he doesn't like to hire coaches with power then in order to clean ship he must go. But keeping MM and reselling him to me is pure BS for as usual RW didn't want to cut his ties and pay a coach who he fired who was under contract. If TD must go, MM has to go as well. And don't think hiring a name like Levy is fooling me into thinking that drastic changes are being made.
  11. ..win ever! I got villified for making such a "stupid" post; being called a "rookie" for saying that the Bengals game was the worse win ever for the Bills but I feel I was right all aolong as it was becoming obvious that Holcomb was being looked at as the answer for us in the future based off one great performance against a playoff team with a struggling D and numerous average OK performances throughout the year while JP, supposedely our QB of the future with potential was being viewed quietely as a scapegoat for this season, especially among the veterans. Look at all those posts and suggestions that crept up last week supporting and hailing Holcomb after that Bengals game. Some were making it seem that with KH we could somehow be so much better, maybe even a playoff team. Now this Jets game put us back into reality in that KH is not that much of an upgrade at QB and that this coaching staff is surely outmatched and that JP can't be used a fall guy as even with WM running for a 100 plus, the coaching staff gave up on the run and allowed KH to lose the game by throwing 4 picks in a close game. Now instead of MM and his staff using these last games to save face and try to resell us KH this might get true steps made in starting this coaching staff over fresh. JP might not be our QB of the future; we won't know until he plays enough games to prove himself yeah or nay. Holcomb is definitely not. And while most will want to can Donahoe, I don't think his drafts and the talent he has assembled has hurt him, it has been his lame head coaches who can't use the talent he has assembled properly. There is no excuse for teams such as the Bills, Raiders, and Saints to miss the playoffs with the talent they have (And with that say No to Haslett!) If we had a coach like Belichek this team would have at least made the palyoffs 3 times in TD tenure as GM. But coupled with the fact that he doesn't want to hire a head coach such as Cowher that could challenge his authority he then must go as we need a competent coaching staff to get us back on track. I thank the Jets for saving us another wasted season while sacrificing their run at Reggie Bush!
  12. If we go with a 3-4 I'd keep Posey as he would play well as an OLB ina 3-4. SInce we are not going to a 3-4 cut his you know what! We are not fit for a 3-4 and this would kill the production of Schobel as he is just not cut out to be a 3-4 end or OLB. Now if he didn't get 12 sacks this year or we still had Ted W or Pat Williams then maybe... see too many questions!
  13. If I'm so below average how come most who have WATCHED the games agree that stats don't mean everything with KH and that clearly JP has more talent. Do you and Mr Holcomb's arm have the NFL package or at least go to a bar and watch the games; those NFL primetime highlights don't do justice; especially for the Bills!
  14. Ok besides the Bengals game, has KH played a complete game? I mean in his 1st two starts against the Jets and Dolphins he started off great but faded in the 2nd half. Same thing in NE game on ESPN as well. But it isn't KH fault either as most of that has to do with coaching and gameplanning as this coaching staff doesn't adjust well on gameday. As much as they need to stick with a QB, they need to stick to a gamplan and a philosohpy so that we can have an identity That is why I want to see JP as the starter for based on these flashes in only 8 starts I know his upside is better than KH wants we get a coaching staff who knows what it is doing. Now if JP was playing like Alex Smith showing no glimpse I'd be worried.
  15. You look at stats: I will look at play. KH is not as good as his numbers say; Jp is not as bad as his say. JP has more talent than KH. WHile JP runs around, avoids sacks, and throws the ball out of bounds, KH after 3 secs in the pocket looks to checkdown and for stats sack will never throw the ball away. How can anybody who has watched all the games this year not see the difference in talent level and potential between these two? And if KH was soo much better I'd be on his bandwagon but he is an average QB with average skills who besides completion percentage has average stats.
  16. So one game against a team he has put up good numbers against in the past makes him a threat all off a sudden? Just like I said a win like that will make some forget how average his play has been all season and get them caught up into stats or start bashing JP when he is only a young green QB who shouldn't be given up on. In the past 4-5 games has JP played that bad? Is KH so much better than JP that we should just build the team around him? HE!! NO!! And of course some of his team mates will support him; they got to have an excuse, someone to blame for their pitiful performance this season when they were suppose to carry JP vs the other way around. The difference is given a year or two Jp has the talent to carry this team; KH DOES NOT!!
  17. You are sadly mistaken as he has played in at least 40 games and while his completion percentage is great that doesn't mean he is a good passer that stretches the field: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/HolcKe00.htm
  18. Great post. This is why I said that the win was the worse win in Bills history and will set us back 2 years because of the "holcombites" as you put it, would act like this is a team that is ready, needs to win now with a consistent QB and that KH is that guy and should be starting for he gives us the best chance to win while JP rots on the bench. Then by the time we realize that KH isn't the answer they will go back to JP and try to sell his rebirth to us all over again. Look KH does not have the ability to carry this team and with him we may be competitive but nothing more than average.
  19. Agree %100. If KH proves us wrong, I'll eat crow. But if we don't win next year then I'd rather lose with a young 2nd year QB who is developing than spinning in place with a journeyman QB who puts up meaningless stats. And if JP isn't the guy then we need to move on. If this coaching staff was so convinvced that JP was ready last year what has changed so quick? I mean he only started 8 games and played well in a few; what do you expect from a 1st year starting QB, an All-Pro?
  20. If you look at his career stats you would see a very accurate QB; after watching him play I can see why as all he does is throw checkdown passes whenever anyone gets near him. With an average team like the one he had in Cleveland he has proven that he can not be a difference maker and carry a team on his back but he can put up decent stats. That will be the case if he starts for us next year as he will complete a high percentage of passes but 80% will be off the same variety, dump offs, 5 yard passes, and 8 yards passes on 3rd and 9 while we finish as an average team. And if we do win it will not be because KH put up big numbers for he is what he is: a journeyman backup QB. I know some will say what has JP proved? Well he only has 8 starts and has proven he can make all the throws and his limitations are not physical and can be corrected with experience. Notice I said CAN be not WILL be. But if I had to win a drag race in the next 2 years I’d rather take my chances with a hot rod car that has the power but needs a lot of tuning and idling than a 4 cylinder that just runs good!
  21. ...that Cincy win with KH having his first and only great game as a Bill didn't have a negative effect on this team. Before this game there was a lot more fans who had a positive outlook for JP, especially since his return and play before the Pats game. Now all of a sudden a lot are questioning whether he is a bust, forgetting that he is a 2nd year starting only 8 games, can he get it done, blah, blah, blah. Before it was get him some blocking, a running game, and next year with Everett coming back a lot more people expected him to progress next year. Now its maybe we should go with KH for he has completed %68 of his passes and a 94 QB rating, forgetting that besides the Bengal game he really hasn't had much impact in those games. I mean he has played 8 games and threw 8 TD passes. With him he has been part of a blowout loss (OAK), almost let a team comeback (MIA same as JP), throws a 2 yard pass on 4th and 9 (NE); etc. But now there are questions that he might be the QB to go with next year. I'll bet if he had his typical %60 completions game with 200 yards but we still won the game there wouldn't be this discussion and we could move forward. Now if he goes out and put up 300 plus against a Jets team packing it in for the Reggie Bush Bowl then we will really have a QB controversy. I just hope if KH starts next year he plays like he did against the Bengals for I don't want to see in 2006 the KH that puts up these good looking stats but no impact, winning against average teams but no playoffs for that is what will happen he plays in 2006 like he has in his other 6-7 starts.
  22. If KH played so great then there wouldn't be any naysaying on my part about his play. But you can look his stats all you want but his play besides from the Bengals game has been average, nothing special. If all this team needed was average QB play then I'm all for KH. But we need more than that and if the playcalling was better, more balanced, and opened up I believe based on what I have seen from JP believe he can be better than average; I just don't get that feeling with KH. Anytime a QB checks down to a 2 yard pass on 4th and 9 he has no guts!
  23. Divided you say? Not necessarily the players and management (though I'm sure there is some of that); look at the posts on this board and links on TwoBillsDrive; there are more and more posts in favor of going with KH based mainly off this one great game and pretty much average other games with great completion percentage. As far as the veterans go, if they wanted to win NOW then they should have played like it. And if they did then there wouldn't be an issue because if the running game and D played like they were suppose to then JP wouldn't be expected to win games. If they played to win NOW and JP was playing awful and holding the team back I would more embrace a move to KH to at least give us a chance. But KH can't win games either as he is only a game manager. JP if given a chance could win games for us, especially if they opened up the playbook for when they have he has shown he can make every throw possible. Every since he has came back from his demotion those inaccurate wild throws he made earlier in the season when he had happy feet have disappeared as most of his incompletes have been throw away passes. With KH and his abilities we will only be an average team. WHo knows with JP; at least he has the talent and has shown glimpses.
  24. And that is why I made the statement that that win against the Bengals was probably the worse "win" ever for what did we gain? A QB controversy and a nother year or atrocious coaching. All it did was make outsiders and some fans here question JP even more, wonder about what if KH had started or what he can do as a starter next year and give the impression that coaching staff can get it done when in reality this is what has held the team back the most. I'd hate to see this same coaching staff back next year trying to sell us KH as a starter. For with a few additions maybe we could turn things around and become a CONTENDOR but not with KH as the starter and certainly not with this coaching staff. A fluke win against a good teamcan cause such dilusion. In the offseason some will noticed that KH had 300 yards against the Bengals and was key to the win but not remember that McGee had 2 TD's on returns and that the Bengals secondary had played awful the past few weeks.
  25. How can it set us back? It has divided the team that is how. Before this game most fans on this borad were behind JP with a few naysayers as most felt that Holcomb was mostly a stat guy who threw mostly checkdown passes. Now that he finally had a game where he actually put up yards instead of completion percentage people will begin to look at the stats and begin to act like the Bills were fools to stick with JP as he is awful and that Holcomb should have started all along when most of us who have watched all the games know that the stats don't mean everything. They even have the QB's win loss records off as while KH started against KC JP came ina nd won the game but it doesn't count as a win for a start. Throw in the Miami meltdown with the close loss to Carolina and then while JP play did pick up he will look awful to the outsiders. And next year it will cause so chaos as to who our starter would be. Let's say that JP played and we lost to the Bengals; this would have just been a learning curve; a lost to a playoff team and if we start him next year then there won't be much controversy. But now no matter which one starts if they don't light up the scoreboard there will be much second guessing. My biggest concern is that with this win, some may consider that this team is ready to win now and we should go with KH. But as most of us who have watched the games know that KH is more of a manager of the game and that JP has talent and more upside; I mean since his second arrival his feet have been much more settled in the pocket and most of his incompletes have been throw aways with no pass protection or running game whatsoever and with experience he will be a good QB. If we struggle with KH and then JP comes in green and struggles then it will be he should have been playing all along; if his play picks up at the end of the season they will try to sell him to us all over again in 2007. Now if JP starts next year and still struggles then the flood gates will really be let out that KH is the better QB and he will not be given the chance to develop and he will be given up on by the media and the fans. The KH that we have saw play against Denver and in the earlier games in the season is the one I expect as he really has no upside. If we go with KH then we should have stuck with Drew (who I can't stand BTW!) Since we have invested in Jp and he has shown potential these past few weeks besides the Pats game, I would rather see him get at least a chance to develop, at least one more season before we give up on him and look for a new QB. As we all know KH is not the QB of the future for us and most would agree. But a fluke game like that at the end of the seaosn will get all these what if scenarios started and set us back a year or two. All I can say is that if KH proves me wrong, then I will be wrong and this statement I made about this game would look foolish as some have said. But if he is the QB I think he is then he would put up stats but no points or W's on an average team.
