I disagree across the board. In fact, it's this sort of centrist, middle of the road, let's get along approach to politics that leads to this sort of debacle. Or, more accurately, it's this sort of approach when your political enemy is willing to scorch the earth and everything in its path while you stand there and calmly state "This is fine". Neither story had "holes" because everything can be explained away. That's the point in this excersize in the freak show that is American politics. Ford's story has nothing that cannot be explained away by time, distance and trauma. That's the beauty of the approach. It's pristine, almost Dexter-like. Kavanaugh's story has nothing that cannot be explained away by time, distance and his trauma that started about 14 days ago. His added wrinkle is to prove or "convince" people on the fence that he didn't do something 30+ years ago, in the context of two weeks ago "I just have to keep it together as these jackals on the Senate panel try to kill me softly and slowly" to "I have been accused of being the main conductor on a rape train" and everything in between. "I've been called a "rapist" by Blumenthal, in public, on record and have to sit and take it". There is no middle ground here anymore than there was after 12.7.41. There is no measured response, there should be no handshakes with feinstein/harris/schumer/Booker etc. And to write it all off as political maneuvering and someone has to be an adult at the table yields the same result as revisiting the end of the war in the Pacific in 1945, and whether or not it was appropriate to end it the way it ended. In a perfect world, the Japanese reflect on the attack, on the loss of life, and decide enough is enough. That did not happen, of course, so in the context of the view of the world in 1945, and the potential loss of countless more American and allied lives, what happened, happened. Lindsay Graham was right. He spoke the truth. Judge Kavanaugh was right he spoke the truth. Both called the other side liars, crooks and cheats. In this case, that is 100% accurate. This was a disgrace. And that, sir, comes from someone who readily acknowledges that I couldn't tell you if Kavanaugh did anything or not in 1982, or whether or not Ford is 100% truthful. Kavanaugh could be the zodiac killer for all I know, but i know political hit jobs when I see them. You find common ground only when your enemy finds it as well. Until then, it is what it is. Oh, and of course that goes both ways. The looney left is the looney right and that's a fact.

Someone always dislikes the choice, and generally it's because they find some rulings (when they exist) laughably stupid. But where the left has decided to take it simply leads to the inevitable, and there are always some crazies willing to step up an claim something, and stooges willing to suspend common sense and the notion of "do unto others as you would have done to you" and gobble it up. Kavanaugh, like Donald Trump, is a hero for our time. He responded directly, forcefully and repeatedly. As far as I can tell, there are only so many ways to say "I didn't do it" when asked 500 times. Republicans could screw up having congress, the senate and the Presidency, so it would not surprise me to see the nomination fall short when some weak-willed politician bails, but he called his opponents and the disgusting dem leadership out for being the trash that they are. Good stuff.

Hey, you might be steady Eddie in real life for all I know, but you seem hyperfocused on classifying those who appear to have a financial leg up on you as undeserving. That makes you appear small-minded and petty. Interestingly, you're doing exactly what people who used to prejudge alleged victims of sexual assault always did...prejudging based on your limited life experiences and grouping people by class. For all you know, Brett K may have been bullied, sexually assaulted by someone close to him, have lost friends to drugs and suicide and been betrayed by friends. He may suffer from ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia, while some other rich boy like your brother cruises through Yale and takes someone elses spot. Heck maybe your brother bullied him at Yale, because when in Rome... It's hard to say, but then again that's the point.

You're correct and I know that. There are times though I just hit the wall understanding why someone would want something to play out like this. Surely they know the game gets escalated the next time, for their person. I try to wrap my head around those that love chaos and anarchy of this sort, but I just don't get it. When all is said and done, I just shake my head with the realization that for every person that makes the koolaid, there are still countless people out there willing to serve it to the people willing to drink it.

I could care less if the argument made and supported by the enemies of Judge Kavanaugh was the age old "people will lose their insurance" or whatever other absurd argument they choose to make that includes the obligatory reference to BIG (industry inserted here). Have at it. Go to town. There are numbnuts on the right doing the same damn thing. But sitting in silence, or worse yet, referring to a person as a rapist, sexual predator or gang rape coordinator in a scenario like this is absurd. Your statement that no one wants to see him hurt is laughable, as he is torn apart in front of his family. And, unlike your gal pal Hillary, an enabler of historic significance with a 30+ year track record of doing one thing but saying another...no such track record exists here. Hes already been hurt, the only question remaining is of the emotional becomes the physical. I acknowledge no first hand knowledge that dem leader want to see kavanaugh physically harmed, but given the all out assault on his personal life, I remain convinced that sens Harris, Gillibrand, Schumer et al might well view such an outcome as a political victory. And by the way, Clinton ran for office and took her shots at every candidate in a down in the sewer battle. Kavanaugh is doing no such thing. She pulled no punches, played the gender card to perfection and when all was said and done, was simply bested by the better/stronger/smarter candidate. She's a graduate of Wellesley College, Yale Law, was the first lady of Arkansas, of the US, a US senator and secretary of state, has earned hundreds of millions of dollars in her personal life, was thought highly enough of to make a spirited run for President 2x, was the in-the-bag nominee in the most recent election, took advantage of her status money and power to marginalize her dem completion, got the questions in advance and came damn close to winning the presidency (and by damn close I mean screwed the pooch quite badly)---and when you speak of crocodile tears check out her books/speeches commentary about his the world aligned against her. When do you Clinton apologists finally come to grips with her own human frailties? But yeah, you're ok with manipulation of the electorate by Americans so long as it suits your view of the world, but scream collusion when it does not.

On the one hand, it doesn't appear all that different. Dem operatives created a false narrative for political expediency, were quickly exposed and continued to promote the false narrative to their base. Their base walked in lockstep with the leadership of the party, disregarding the obvious holes in the story, like lemmings (but not the smart lemmings in the back of the crowd that march to the cliff but never jump). One key difference is that in the case on Beghazi, the story was built upon the broken and battered bodies of American citizens with little concern for their legacy, and the goal of the story was to replace facts with a narrative that deflected blame from the responsible administration to minimize the impact on the election. In the current case, while there are no broken and/or burned bodies left on a battlefield, there is significant emotional trauma to a family and community. Interestingly, while I never thought Obama and Clinton ever hoped for or wished death upon those in Benghazi, I feel they (dem leadership) would be perfectly content to see Kavanaugh hamed physically if it derailed his nomination.
-
I think the primary goal of the Democrats is to destroy Kavanaugh, his wife, his children and anyone who inadvertently stood next to him on a subway. The theory here is to let the next nominee know that regardless of the life they have lead, there is no length to which they will not go to eviscerate those who oppose them.

If ringleader means the same thing as wingnut, yes! -
Well instead of playing in the NFL maybe he should be on "Fool us" with Penn and Teller with all this cerebral bs in this humpty dumpty! (just kidding, I finished watching the bills game about 20 minutes ago and between Josh Allen, the defensive jabberwocky that came out of nowhere and my newfound commitment to running----no, wait, winning---- the NYC marathon, I'm in the zone!) apologies, you are on point with your Rosen analysis.

I think this is on you. Words like veracity and credibility can be confusing as they both end in 'ty' and have more than one vowel. When you take the time to consider that in today's world of texting, 'ty' means 'thank you', the whole post seems a mix of words and unspecified gratitude. Plus, don't forget the rules...i before e except after c, and there are 3 i's after the c in credibility.

Goodness. I wonder what the experimental cutting edge cancer treatment costs, and how it can be covered under the policy everyone suggests is too expensive to begin with? You're making an emotional argument regarding a financial issue. The contract chosen outlines coverage and benefits in exchange for the premium paid. If you're going emotional, why not have the doctor/hospital/pharmaceutical donate services, the govt forgive all taxes, tolls and fees, Verizon toss in free cell service, and Dunkin donuts send munchkins for breakfast? It sucks when cancer comes to call, but its silly to suggest that there should be no limits to treatments.

If Joe Biden had one incident, photo shopped or not, it would be a non issue for me. He's a blathering dolt at times, but an extremely effective politician. He will say or do anything that needs to be said or done, I don't doubt he's a tough guy from the old neighborhood, but he got the pass from the media that Trump never did.
-
I hate to acknowledge it now, but in the early days of Trump v Clinton, I contemplated whether or not i could have lived with this moron as president and thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Biden loves the spotlight and will say or do anything to remain relevant. I think this gives him the opportunity to be relevant, in spite of his own missteps and propensity to round second each time he embraces a woman. You give him far too much credit.

You could have stopped after "is it fair". Of course it isn't. The politics of personal destruction is an age old trick, as is the destroyers-in-fact claiming moral superiority. Many men have made false and unprovable allegations to f with someone else. Many women have made false and unprovable allegations to f with someone else. Most politicians include the ability to do so as a job skill on their resume. The true art is destroying someone else without getting your hands dirty. Joe Biden today on NBC news said their shoukd be an FBI investigation as they had with Clarence Thomas, that it took two days, CT was confirmed but senators were too tough on Anita Hill. He believed her, of course, so the FBI investigation that revealed nothing of merit...revealed what it only could reveal. He said. She said. Biden also made this really awkward comment along the lines of "Have you seen Deliverance? How would you like to be that guy tied to the tree?". What a stooge.

Predictable, given what she's claimed, as predictable as the way this allegation played out against kavanaugh. From Kamala Harris cutting and pasting kavanaugh comments, to schumer and Durban and gilibrand demanding that things slow down, to Feinstein and her antics at the 11th hour designed to kill this man dead in the eyes of the nation, his family and in particular his wife and two young daughters. The whole "she came forward so it happened" crowd is the most full of crap among us. I wouldn't waste my time calling this woman anything more than what she is...a last minute fly in the ointment destined to screw up the confirmation of a qualified guy to the sc. that's her legacy, though if kavanaugh suddenly acknowledges her complaints, at which time we can revisit.
