  1. Would you support the release of embarrassing, though not illegal, information if it made a difference in the 2020 election cycle? Is it all fair in politics if the desired outcome is achieved? Just wondering how you see that.
  2. In fairness, The Fugitive guy had one arm, he wasn’t armless. You probably weren’t intentionally limb shaming him, but these movie characters are real people with real feelings. So many people call them armless, but is it so hard to refer to them as bi-laterally challenged? And the jokes, always with the jokes. “Hey, look, here comes Slots!” or “I saw a one-armed guy about to het hanged, so I started yelling out letters” or “When a one armed guy does Sign Language, is it fair to say he has a speech impediment?”. Sorry, I went on a rant, but armless? No.
  3. Seriously Foxxy, come clean and tell me you made this and it’s a deep fake. Let’s even agree Joe paid her the $2 for the babysitting and an extra $1 an hour to violate her personal space and smell her hair for an hour. All very doable on $40k+ at that time.
  4. It seems far too often the tail wags the dog. I think a sensible response is to help those who cannot help themselves. In some case ls that surely will result in forced compliance. While unfortunate, the other side of the coin--homeless people of all sorts wandering the streets, streets becoming the repository of drug paraphernalia, excrement, and of course the predators that flow to any crisis of this magnitude--- presents a risk to everyone involved, and that risk exceeds a reasonable standard. Part of the problem is the heavy-handedness of government in implementing programs. We have a group home for the developmentally disabled in our neighborhood. Been there 20 years, and the concern amongst many of the neighbors prior to occupancy was the potential impact on property values. I wasn't really all that concerned, I was raised by a mother who preached compassion and mainstreaming people as, well people. The problem is, proper values have been impacted. The property is at times unkempt, they enlarged the driveway beyond a reasonable size and apparently gave no aesthetic consideration to it, the garbage cans are overflowing more often than not and there really is no rhyme of reason to any of it. It's a difficult challenge and I think you're correct it is extremely difficult to solve. Status quo is a very bad option.
  5. In a world suddenly populated but officials in black shirts rushing the field with neuralyzers to make officials forget the calls they made and flags they might have thrown, this is not entirely crazy. I. Am. In. Let’s hope the next step in JAs development is recognizing consistently that small bites of the apple extend drives. Great post all in all.
  6. I read the “comprehensive reform measures”. Starts with capping increases on rent at 5%, strengthening protection against eviction, throws massive amounts of money at the problem, loosens burdensome and nonsensical regulations they put in place, and eliminates the need for referendums in localities that require such things, and mentions something about taking advantage of the prime real estate under freeways. So...tax the balls off people, f ‘em over when the tenant can’t/won’t pay the rent, regulate the $#@& out of building projects, add layers of additional government workers to the payroll, suspend the burdensome regulations that squeeze the $#@& out of people, and warehouse the homeless under the freeway. I agree with you, Jim, it’s a complicated problem and it sure looks like they’ve done a great job of $#@&ing up the solution.
  7. Of course on the other hand, people encounter other people that offend them in some way, shape or form every day and don't smack them about the buttocks. Store clerks, waiters, people in the checkout line, the guy in front of you who won't turn right on red. I have no idea why anyone was doing anything, who told whom to do what, or who's job was to look into what. I do know that basic human decency taught at an early age suggests slapping someone about the buttocks, as they face away from you engaged with another person is the wrong way to get their attention. OBJ can solve the problem by making this HIS teachable moment. It is as simple as "I got caught up in the excitement, I lost my composure and for reasons I dont quite understand, I chose to slap another human being about the buttocks without their consent. I have offered a personal settlement on $10,000 to the impacted individual. I'll also donate $10,000 to a charitable organization that supports Community Policing, and an additional $10,000 to a charity that works toward ending domestic/physical abuse. I was wrong, and I'm sorry.". The officer could super-size the incident by donating his $10k to the community policing charity as well. Side bar, I appreciate the opportunity to use the phrase "slapping about the buttocks" multiple times in one post.
  8. Why, it IS almost heaven, West Virginia.
  9. i was mad for a while, then remembered who the dems are running--thrice failed octogenarians, commie posers, the chick from dances with wolves' great aunt, and a few others--and then thought about my job security and investment return and wasn't angry anymore.
  10. The septed negative...rarely seen and almost impossible to pull off when not intoxicated. Well done Mr. Clowney.
  11. I would not contribute to a gfm campaign irrespective of my feelings about the penalty, nor would I expect a player to send me a donation to help offset a monetary penalty related to my business. It represents an occupational hazard, and there’s a process for him to appeal or resolve as he sees fit. I applaud your tunnel vision and the simplicity of your approach. There are times I wish I could tune out some of the distractions, but always assumed if I did, I’d be a more reasonable and happy fan. Maybe not. Let’s hope that next year, we both win. Your boys in stripes find some level of consistency, games are called squarely, and CF becomes a league favorite so if he does inadvertently kill shot a guy, no flag will follow.
  12. Cody Ford is a young guy playing football. Even if you believe it was a reasonable call, keep it in perspective. You insulted the man earlier, now this. No one has “apologized” for his play, and we’ll wait and see if the Ravens Olineman who made forcible contact gets banged for $58, 150 for the two blindside blocks on the same play since it’s a point of emphasis. When that occurs, I’ll be back to extend my apologies to you and acknowledge you were correct.
  13. There is no way in hell the Titans come into our house and beat the Bills. It would take a substantial and cataclysmic collapse, a missed kick that was likely to be made, or some sorta whacky and controversial trick play for that to happen. I just don’t see it happening.
  14. Aw hell no, now I’m taking to the streets! btw, what’s the sexually suggestive part? It’s a photo of a woman in a bathing suit. Everything thereafter is in the mind and bathing suit area of the beholder.
  15. Well obviously you're not going to know until tomorrow when the paper gets to your door. Makes it more exciting.
  16. I'm going to assume Nickell Robey Coleman had the best reputation in the league, so I'm really at a loss as to why there was any "outrage" at all after his hit on TommyLee Lewis last year and why, as if by divine intervention, the league re-evaluated the rules in place. Interestingly, lots of folks were "outraged" over the implementation of the new review rule and the calls being overturned, or not, that seemed to be at odds with the rules. I'm thinking the NFL's honest response should simply "HEY, FELLAS, IT'S COOL...THIS DB IS COOL---MACARENA COOL..NO FLAG NECESSARY.". Country Music superstar Aaron Tippin wrote "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.". If you're cool with one guy writing a check for $28k because you have an issue with him, while another guy doesn't even warrant a flag, well, good for you. i'm sure the league will learn him right. Have a good night.
  17. Let's unpack this. A game changing penalty is called on a player who, in the eyes of the officials charged with neutral observation of the game, decide will be called for a penalty where other, more popular and/or favorably viewed players would not. Additionally, in order to humiliate and financially impact the player--- the league has decided to levy a fine of something like $1000 per minute played because CF is in your words "an emotional idiot', even though you yourself suggest that for many players, the official wouldn't even muster the energy to move his hand toward the flag in his back pocket. Yeah, that's a recipe for success to push the old integrity meter. In a weird way, we agree in principle. Some players will be called for that, others would not. Personally, I think labelling this a 'bang bang' play is 'bullsh*t bullsh*s', but even if it is, you're still arguing that some players will not be called while others will thereby impacting one game and not the next. As for changing rules to improve player safety, I call ABSURD on your rationale. Whatever rule is implemented, consistency is the key to a fair contest. Not 100% error free officiating, just consistency. The NFL has itself to blame for the sh9tshow that is 'officiating', and fining a guy to compel him to aspire to be Prom King is dumb.
  18. I’m sorry, this is absurd. Defend the penalty, fine. See it as a reasonable call, or even an unreasonable penalty but reasonably called due to the high speed of the game. Fine, there is enough wiggle room in the rule to throw the flag as there was contact. In the calm light of day, and for many including former players, it was an uneventful play with no impact and no unreasonable risk to the defender. The call was bad enough, the $28,000 fine implies it was determined to be an attempted kill shot. Now, if the argument is the NFL must fine due to league rules after that call is made (no exceptions), it’s still a crappy and unreasonable call that using reasonable judgement by the officiating team should not have been called. And, given the call made on the spot and the resulting fine, I have zero confidence that any action involving Ford and his arms/hands etc would have gone unflagged.
  19. I'm not arguing against fans digging into play calls or execution, just pointing out that it's as impactful or meaningful as complaining about a call. Everybody enjoys the game their way and personally I read select posters who seem to have a handle on the game v most sports reporters. Btw I always figure when I know the call the play calling generally sucks. I think it is naive to think the NFL wants a pure and clean season that simply results in the best teams making the tournament. The NFL wants the highest rated, best sports entertainment for the masses to maximize revenue. I think that means that to overcome the tendency to look the other way for some teams while calling the others right, a team that doesn't check all the boxes truly has to knock the other teams out. I'm no x and o expert, but considered individually I can see every call going one way or the other, but collectively?: JA hit and knocked down well after the whistle early. Clear penalty. Watt sack on JA on the Beasley miss, full body weight on The Qb. Certainly could have been called. Td no Td. Watson delay of game. Ford "forcible contact" with shoulder parallel to own goalline with modest contact. JA helmet to chin. There are more...but one last thing. Its impossible for me to view it all without the context of no similar penalties against Houston. Anyway, I've decided to vote with my dollars. In spite of the general excitement of the Bills trending up, I've decided to cancel the 2 season tix accounts I've had for 10 or 15 years with a letter to NFL explaining why. I realize it means nothing to the corporation, but its silly to keep paying for something that is largely impacted by one key element that is consistently bad.
  20. Because to single out Ford on a penalty that by the very nature is a judgment call penalty (define forcible contact v any contact), where the NFL is notoriously inconsistent as acknowledged by virtually every fan in America, at a critical point in the game, where officials generally do not throw flags, in an innocuous situation seems silly to me. Put another way, the call can be made, but it was joke that it was made. At the same time, the TD/no TD call is made correctly on the field, but "corrected" to account for the players feeling or intent at the moment. I cannot recall a time when the men in black rushed on to the field, and while I acknowledge they can, it's fair to question why they would. Finally, the head shot to JA no-call. Maybe they didn't see it, maybe the felt JA lead with his chin, maybe whatever. The bottom line for me is when human error is involved, it's rare to see questionable calls go against you multiple times. Finally, you mentioned that the NFL was sending a message that the call was correct. That seems to imply discretion again, and the reality is that the message had already been sent when the flag was thrown. The game is over, the fine totally unnecessary, yet they feel a need to send a message? The officiating is horrid, players and fans cannot change things one way or the other, but imo it's not a golden goose that cannot be discussed. I respect your right to disagree, but honestly, complaining about play selection or QB play falls into the same category. It accomplishes a absolutely nothing.
  21. I've never understood a guy who opines on all sorts of football topics yet gets upset when someone else does the same. I understand that you believe the officiating is a quality product and that human error may/is part of it, but why the frustration with others who recognize that officiating is a huge part of the game. It's not like there is a consensus that the highly paid, supposedly highly trained, post-game graded apparenly-average aged 65 do an exceptional job. It's not even that they are widely viewed as consistent. NFL experts are weighing in all the time on the issue. Guys like Pat Kirwin acknowledge the officiating issues, albeit only when calls tilt games that matter at inopportune times. The NFL itself comes back with comments, but typically only after marquis games are impacted at inopportune times. The reality is its beyond the control of the fan, but officiating influences games and there is a stunning lack of consistency which seems at times to benefit some ar the expense of others. Why do you care if someone else cares?
  22. Send Hickman to see Goodell. It's the only answer.
  23. With due respect, it feels like you’re trying to rationalize with an angry homeless guy who thinks you said his shopping cart is ugly.
  24. I’m with you, but don’t subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. Since the allegation is serious enough to impact the election, can you tell me who the source(s) are by name, the proof provided that Trump made the comments attributed to him, and the names of the senators that were appeased. I will research independently thereafter.
  25. I’m torn between two answers: 1. Obviously. 2. Nice try. This isn’t over.
