  1. Fair question. No, I don't find it odd. I think many politicians enjoy the status quo, enjoy the prestige if being in power, operate in their own self-interest first and in the interests of their constituents when the heavy lifting is kept to a minimum. I also think President Trump works best in an environment akin to Thunderdome, and on top of that, he certainly can be a first rate douche to boot. Willard Romney began to lose my respect when he revealed himself to be weak and unprepared against the Obama/Dem/media assault team. He was unable to deliver the conservative (even middle of the road moderate message points) against an admin that badly managed a crisis where an ambassador and other Americans were left to die, then created a fictional narrative that was designed to influence the outcome of the election. (I never blamed Obama for screwing up Benghazi and losing people--that happens--but the cover-up and lie thereafter were unforgivable and makes this little Ukraine issue look like a day at Chuckie Cheese.) Romney was weak, allowed allowed himself to be cuckholded and four more years of Barry from the Block followed. Move forward to the Trump years. Willard tries to jockey for secretary of state, in spite of his harsh words about Trump, and fails to get the job. Politics make strange bedfellows, but this is where I lose all respect for him. Now, as the dems are in the 4th year of an attempt to unseat the president I voted for, having watched Mueller fail, having watched Kavanaugh be humiliated in front of his wife and children (and geesh, while I admire Kobe's commitment to his family and his children and recognize the horrible tragedy that befell them, good old Brett was #girldad all along the way and those honoring Kobe lined up to stab Kavanaugh in the stomach with a pencil in an effort to end him slowly and painfully on CSPAN), I see dopey old Mitch as weak yet again as he wrings his hands over witnesses. Here's my statement Bobby Flay: Adam Schiff and the house Democrats are attempting to have Trump removed from office. Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler and the rest of those in control of the house used political majority in the house to frame a story in the manner they wanted it presented. There was no call for harmony, they did not consider the feelings of the Rs, defer to their requests for a "fair hearing", nor attempt to meet somewhere in the middle so we could all get to the truth. Schiff in particular made statements to the public that were false and misleading along the way, and in that regard, did so for maximum political effect. True or False? Assuming you are willing to at least recognize the TRUTH that old LS has laid out, back to Romney. From the eyes of a conservative with liberal leanings on social issues: Enough capitulation. Enough hand wringing. We're in a death match over our political process, and we need strong, steady hands on the wheel. One of the leading contenders on the dem side is an avowed socialist phony who wants the ability for great personal wealth and power for himself while tearing down and blowing up opportunities for the middle class. Another seeks to buy her way into the White House with promises to enrich people who chose a course of action in college at the expense of those who didnt. A third is Joe Biden, a guy on tape bragging about strongarming Ukraine to get what he wanted to protect his son. I would love to see a guy like Romney sack up and try and win something for a change instead of wandering around like a grinning dimwitted bobblehead when so much is at stake. Willard Romney is a rat.
  2. At one time I thought Romney a decent human being. Now I see him as a cross between Eddie Haskel and the kid from Cobra Kai who cheapshotted Daniel-San in Karate Kid. He’s basically a 3rd rate actress promising multiple points of entry on the political version of Harvey Weinsteins casting couch.
  3. I'm harvesting plastic bags. Things bout ta get realz...
  4. Not at all. The House stacked the deck, played their hand and here we are. If the evidence fails to convince the number of senators required, it speaks for itself. Everyone has already lost in some respects. Between Mueller, Kavanaugh and the like, those who voted for Trump have lost nearly 4 years to investigations that go nowhere. Our votes were impacted, the agenda for the admin certainly impacted, and who knows what might have been accomplished if not for the distractions of a tyrannical DOJ investigation. The libs have lost as they were lead around by your noses with one fake scandal after another. And we as citizens lose because the roadmap has been established--call your opponent treasonous, utilize the DOJ, the FBI, the CIA, and the IRS (obviously) to destroy your rival. Here's hoping the Rs have the intestinal fortitude to see it through and tell the dems "Get the heck outta here!" on the witness issue.
  5. Well here's the point. You find truth where you see it. You see references to a constitutional scholar as a "backslap", I see it a ls reference to a constitutional scholar. You see this whole debacle as a pursuit of truth, I see it as a debacle of the highest order. You see Adam Schiff as a seeker of truth, I see him simply as a partisan who likely is pursuit of something, but the truth ain't it. Finally, being a natural born skeptic, I look at every president in the history of the country as having been impeachable if this is the standard we're going to use moving forward. If that's the case, so be it.
  6. What a sound bite. Jesus, she must be drinking lots of them beers she loves.
  7. If you're an independant or undecided, I think that's the point. How can we re-elect someone who was nearly removed from office (in a highly partisan proceeding where the opposition sets the rules, and much of the dirty work is handled behind the curtain)? Fair question, and that seems to be the dems angle. I would hope that independent-minded people would look at the totality of the events of the past 4 years...realize this isn't politics as usual, it was an attempt to undo the election results. Team Trump will be aggressive in the messaging, there certainly is ample evidence for independents to at least consider that likely. In addition, the wild card is any declass-related info that might come out after the Durham review. Many are skeptical that anything will come of it, I'm hopeful that wrongdoing is revealed.
  8. All great money laundering schemes require separate yet interconnected multiple laundromats. They follow the Amway model..
  9. A grain of salt is measured to 64. 79198 milligrams. If you go to a salt store and ask them for a grain, they give you 64.79198 milligrams. Come back the next day, ask them for a HUGE grain of salt, they make you wait a bit, throw it in a larger bag and up charge you twice what they charged you the day before, but you get home with your same 64.79198 milligrams. It’s a huge problem with salt stores, pretty common knowledge they have their thumb on the scale.
  10. You're asking a lot from an internet challenged geezer to read through some of my own thoughts to get to yours. Looks like a whole lot of hinky voodoo copy and paste business but here goes: 1. The House has it's rules and role. The Senate does as well. To the broader question of absolute immunity--I'm going to be the last honest mah-fahkurr on the internet. What the heck do I know? If President Trump was on the front lawn of the White House and stabbed a CNN reporter through the cranium, I"d think he would be removed. At the same time, let's not make this elaborate scheme something grander than it is. This isn't about a crime, it isn't about obstruction, this is about politics with a blunt hatchet. See if it were me, I'd think old Adam Schiff would be embarrassed to be caught lying as as spokesperson of the modern Dem party, but not only is he not embarrassed, the dem leadership makes him the Mac Daddy of Impeachment--he's the BuggEY'D-G of Impeachment. The House chose its path, defined it's role and moved forward as the enemy combatant to the sitting President and those who elected him. Why would the Senate not follow the same course of action? You ask too much. 2. The Russian narrative is dead, it actually died long before it knew it had expired, and it's embarrassing to continue to point to it. It was a wholesale victory by Team Trump, the issue should be buried and those who ran the grift on the American people exposed and jailed. There should be no further review of Trump in that regard, and the only reason to do so is purely for political gain. Folks who think as you do will buy whatever is sold in that regard, so there is that. As for OJ--(and seriously Bob---an OJ question here??), no, OJ should not be investigated by the House or Senate for murder, past or present. As for Ukraine--I already know what happened. So do you. I want it to end because in spite of the incredible legal/political gymnastics they ran with, the House Dems could not even carry their own party with the load of crap they backed up to our Nation's Capitol. This, in spite of unlimited time, money, resources and the ability to game the system as they saw fit. I want it to end as soon as reasonably possible, within the guidelines established for such things, using the power and strength of the majority party. 3. You know I like chatting with you, but the last part about cheating and Wikileaks is off the rails my friend. I see things differently, of course, but it has nothing to do with smearing Biden--Biden is knee deep in self-smearing (gross) based on his public commentary on the issue at hand. I'm not even sure that what Biden Inc did was illegal--at least the part about setting his crackhead son up for a sweetheart deal. I think he clearly strong-armed a foreign government for personal enrichment, heck I'd think even you agree with that, right? "Get rid of the guy who's looking into our affairs, or I cut off aid from the American taxpayers." Joe Biden ain't going to jail, and he'll drum up 10s of millions of votes, yet he's on tape sounding an awful lot like Paulie Walnuts of Sopranos. I think well-intentioned liberals think they somehow hold some moral high ground on these issues, and that's the part that makes me laugh. I know who Trump is as a human, I know the things that bother me about him, but I sit here today and say still---the guy is a national treasure and one day, books will be written about this crazy journey he took to the top in spite of the obstacles, entrenched politicos working against him 24x7, and with people filled with righteous indignation who claim their guy is the answer--be their guy a crazy old man who fondles everything he can get his hands on while propping up his drug-addicted-deceased-brother's-wife-banging son in the ^%$#ing Ukraine, or the crazy conman socialist and his criminal wife living the elitist life of a high ranking member of the politboro, or the self-aggrandizing Harvard prof who can't remember if she grew up oppressed in a house or a wigwam, or the obligatory gay mayor of a town who's sister city might well be Cheektowaga, NY. I say again. This is a political death match. If the republicans are going to cave and be bullied by the liberals, the fight is lost.
  11. Hey Bob--good to hear from you. What it seems to me that you're in support of is the R senators ceding the control given to them by the voting public to their political enemies. I don't know why anyone with half a conscience would do so, but I've long believed there really is just one mushy political party that pretends to act as two, with an eye toward maintaining the status quo. My suggestion would be to move forward to dismiss the case as quickly as reasonably possible, to paint the dems as obstructionist and socialists willing to steal the presidency that was rightly won by President Trump. If they lose at the ballot box over this issue, well, what can you really do? We have 3+ years of Russian fiction that some people still cling to in spite of a failure best described as spectacular, we have the public dismemberment of Brett Kavanaugh, along with people screaming that the Senate needs to do something it simply does not need to do----all in the backdrop of a of one of the most high-profiled public figures bullying foreign power into doing his bidding while his son is enriched beyond most people's wildest dreams. As we look forward to the ballot box, there is plenty of ammunition to use against the democrats. At this point, it's really boiled down to 'us v. them'. Might as well get to it.
  12. I’m not with you on this one. My assumption is she erroneously started to say “Los Angeles Nicks”, realized she was screwing up big time and attempted a correction that ended horribly.
  13. Please elaborate. If your perspective is that acquiescence to the demands of your enemy equates to creating a “clearer picture”, you haven’t paid attention to the political history of our country. The only information that needs to be provided is that which leads to the successful resolution of the senate trial, and that which results in the quickest verdict in favor of the President.
  14. Well, to be fair, the votes of people who didn’t do the right thing are plentiful, and easier to buy. . I figure I’ll be pushing $350k on student debt for my children when all is said and done. My children had the opportunity to go to most schools, had good grades and worked to help the cause. We collectively made choices, some of which were heavily influenced by the voting bloc with the deep pockets over the outraged voices of the attending bloc, but which were based on some level of sense once referred to as “common”. I give this man credit for his controlled rage, and his refusal to shake the hand of this phony who doesn’t even bother try and hide her disdain and contempt for his asking a pretty reasonable question. As a member of the class of the educational elites, Warren drank deeply from the well of student debt, just part of the crowd that &$#@ed students over for personal enrichment. I wonder if she took to the street while lining her pockets, or if she just saddled up knowing that down the road she could pretend she didn’t, knowing that many people who stood to gain from her scheme would back her up regardless. One of the most amazing parts to me is that in spite of the cost of education, and in spite of NYs grand giveaway of education for those at certain income levels, I still get solicitation to send more money to help the school(s) out. It’s simply amazing how these people think.
  15. chuck has been a sitting US Senator since 1998. I would assume the number of articles written on the trajectory of the Social Security program sine that time number in the hundreds of thousands. I would bet 98% of those articles skew negative. Yet this rich, entitled, sanctimonious, hypocritical boated piece of human politics can say without shame or irony that Trump is the problem. f u, chuck.
  16. We’re this far down the road, may have well have the storm hit late enough to impact 2020 election.
  17. Ground and pound, ground and pound, ground and pound. Keep tearing the guy down, throw constant allegations against him, when disproven or they fade from the public view, start all over again. In our little cross section of the world here on PP, we have some lovable dipsh#ts who crowed about (Among other things) Herr Mueller and his gang of sturmabteiliung acolytes taking down DJT for years, only to end up with egg on their faces, only to start it all up again. They have no shame, they are incapable of introspection, and thus they move on to the next scandal their overlords toss out. On the other hand, there are the rest of us who suggest, as you did, that this would unacceptable if the shoe was on the other foot, despite their feelings about Obama and those before him.
  18. It's why I think, if the material implicating Schiff in any way, shape or form will help put this issue to bed, it should be revealed. I hate to say that even in light of the sh6theel that he is, but so be it.
  19. Don't be disingenuous. The entire spectacle is political, and witnesses are blocked and trotted out to serve the master with the allotted time on the clock. For every "there's a reason a bunch of witnesses" will not testify, there is a reason other witnesses were called to testify. It's not the Rs job to "help their case", anymore than it was Kavanaughs obligation to prove he wasn't lead engineer on a rape train.
  20. Initially I always feel badly when I read these reports. “Accused of having sexual relationships with several students and providing them with alcohol” makes them sound easy and irresponsible. After that though, my mind wanders,
  21. I don’t disagree. My issue at time like these is that the politics of personal destruction is big business and alive and well. Watching Brett Kavanaugh and his hearing disgusted me. I wish that on no one, and if there is justice in the world, the main architects of that attempted destruction will rot in hell. That said, I’m not so sure I’d draw this line anymore, or if the republicans can afford to do it any more. Guess we’ll have to see.
