  1. Yes! Very similar to 2016 (though it remains to be seen if the Rs will have the juice and desire to go full on impeachamania), and the stage was set for both parties to complain about stolen/illegitimate elections in 2020. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  2. Is your village called Lily Dale?
  3. That is freakin hysterical!! 🤣🤣🤣 Btw, can what George Thorogood said be true—-You’re 10 times richer than your big brother Bob?
  4. We had a plan, and we forgot it when someone got punched in the mouth. On the whole though—yeah, fun times!!
  5. When we were kids, a guy stopped his car on a side street we were walking on and approached us, asking if we had thrown a snowball at his car. We had not, though at other times we might have. One of my friends was a smart ass, started walking towards the guy telling him to get lost or whatever and the guy rapped him right in the kisser. Actions have consequences.
  6. I don’t recall that book specifically. We read a ton together and sorta remember Wanda the Octopus, but cannot say with certainty. Cool cover though! On that note, one of my prouder moments as a parent was when my daughter called from college after a long class on employment law and told me that she kept thinking of me and this clip.
  7. I have not voted yet. Soon enough. There have been times in my life when I have gotten wrapped up in all this more than I do now, and obviously I spend time on a message board dealing with politics so I find the subject interesting…but have come to the conclusion it’s an enormous waste of my time to spend much time worrying about it. So, I don’t. Have a good day ya commie chick ya! —or— Have a good day, ya democracy loving chick ya!
  8. Hey Mup, No hatches to batten imo. There will be a ton of political theater, a treasure trove of breathless reporting, and much to fret about what with the notion that democracy is on the brink. Cast your vote if you choose, take a pass if you like, consider historical precedent when it comes to midterms and move on.
  9. Actually, Kathy Hochul—political partner to former Governor/Groper Andrew Cuomo, brought former President/Predator Bill Clinton to stump for her. Apparently, victimization of other women is completely acceptable to Kathy Hochul, so long as it benefits her.
  10. Trust the guys who define the process. They’ve earned that right. I’m with you here, and would love to see OBJ in a Bills uniform if he’s ready to roll.
  11. Interesting question. Here’s an opinion piece posted to the Fox News website: https://www.foxnews.com/media/nbc-news-blasted-critics-over-retracted-paul-pelosi-report-questions-persist-done-damage Lots of speculation on the reporting, including how NBC could have gotten it so wrong (assuming they got it wrong), why the story was allowed to air to begin with, what actually happened in the house, and why journalists aren’t out seeking clarification. All fair questions in my opinion. In a nod to Chi and Sunny D, it could have just been one large, systemic f/u where professional reporters, editors and producers simply got confused and produced a story over the course of a week and then published a fabricated version of events from unsubstantiated sources. Or, they’re part of Team Conspiracy. I would think Miguel A. and his producers would be terminated on a screw up this big, if indeed it was shoddy reporting.
  12. She’s nuts, of course, but her comments on security at our southern border are spot on. The amount of pain, suffering and death on both sides of the border is incalculable and Biden and his team seem not very concerned about it. I’d go so far as to say politicians on both sides of the aisle seem not to be all that concerned about that brand of suffering.
  13. The hold is a whole ‘nother issue. The jets long drive had a few, olineman yanking players that had a shot at the runner. I agree they were letting that stuff go, which makes the hold to set us back 10 and negate the Diggs grab aggravating. Again, when you’re not playing well, a lucky break or two helps to win games. In two plays in about a minute, time runnning out, both went the Jets way. It happens, and it blows.
  14. It was a penalty and should have been called. The db holds him, doesn’t track the ball, and it impedes the ability to catch the ball. I understand the perspective that one call doesn’t win or lose a game, and the Jets were the better team today. Still, when you’re not playing up to your standards, and things aren’t going right, it absolutely does not hurt when a call is made that should be made regardless of what point of the game you are in. Luck matters in the game as well.
  15. It’s not a winning thing, Tibs, I just opined that DeSantis will be ok based on Trump’s word play. Biden is president and his VP believes he is guilty of violent sexual assault, and as @Doc pointed out, a racist. In that regard, Biden was ok, right? Every interaction doesn’t have to be a blood sport, Tibsy. I do want to recognize that you surrendered the W though. Integrity matters.
  16. On the one hand, you indicated I’m not making sense. On the other hand, your second paragraph implies •BOOM• you got it.
  17. Of course you can’t do anything to stop people, that you even consider that you should sort of pushes you into the mindset of an authoritarian. You’re consistent, but let’s let people make their own choices Tibsy. My point is DeSantis will be fine. He’s a big boy. There is so much time between now and the nomination it’s silly to even discuss it.
  18. No, he’s not. DeSantis will be fine. The run up to the nomination is always ugly, and “DeSanctimonius” is nothing. You’ll recall Kam Harris believes the lady who accused Biden on violent sexual assault and they worked it all out.
  19. I usually understand what you’re trying to say, but I find these last couple replies to be somewhat Tiberian. I know someone who knows someone who won $40m in the lottery. Turns out it didn’t suck.
  20. I was born in WNY and my most frequent dream is of a banana chasing a donut. Still, I may be missing your point.
  21. Btw Jim, hypothetically, in addition to my Doritos, I would want my SS payment in addition to having $2m in an IRA and a $5k per month pension.
  22. And Nacho Cheese Doritos—I just heard the Rs are coming for Americas favorite spicy chip. Medicare Social Security Virginia Doritos, but only Nacho Cheese for now.
  23. I think we all would agree every civilized society needs a special group of citizens figuring out what everyone should think in the collective. RIP Twitter Content Account Moderation Team and Tech Valley Corporate Co-Ed Cornhole Champions 2019-2020.
  24. Jimmy Kimmel, the guy who made a name for himself by approaching women and asking them to guess what is in his pocket? The Sage of Late Night? 🤣
  25. This all may be completely accurate, I have no idea. I’m just a citizen watching what’s happening and not inclined to assume everything that happens in these proceedings starts from a place of good faith, or that there isn’t political animus involved. I also believe that for every decision made, there is a choice made not to pursue a different course of action. The fact that we are “here” doesn’t necessarily mean we should be. That goes for Trump (and I feel the documents in his home was an unforced error on his part), and the DOJ. This is one of those choices referenced above. The judge involved apparently disagreed, the DOJ simply could have pushed forward and allowed the system to play out. @SectionC3 suggested the request for a Special Master was a delay tactic. You have your opinions. Just applying common sense, I really can’t imagine many folks who were the target of this sort of action would sit back and be fine with the DOJ stating “Don’t worry, we got this, trust us.”. Glad to find some common ground on the media. That’s something. Sure, the DOJ would prefer to work in a cone of silence and under a cloak of secrecy. That makes perfect sense for the department and when the system is fair, just, impartial and blind, there is nothing to worry about. When not acting in good faith, it’s a significant point of contention. The target of the investigation, of course, may not benefit from this approach and specifically in this case, Trump has ample reason to be concerned about the motive(s) of the DOJ. If he’s charged, his decision to go public with his complaints hasn’t hurt him in the least. If he isn’t charged, it’s evidence of political malfeasance. In the interim, the optics of a swarm of armed agents laying siege to his home and taking all sorts of documents unrelated to the probe sends exactly the sort of message to his supporters that he wants to send. Again, you might be right on the quality of his representation. I would disagree that anything about this is “standard”, storming the home of a former president/political enemy of the DOJ happens because of choices that are made along the way. Some were most definitely made by Trump. Some were obviously made by Garland and the WH. In the end, messages are being sent. How they are being received is up to interpretation.
