Controversy is the only way to make that thing relevant.

Article comparing Josh Allen to other 1st round QBs
Max Fischer replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Serious question: What do you believe makes him "Make" or "Break" - and do you think that is different from most fans, and more important, from the Bills Execs and Coaches? There are so many factors to determine success it would make my head hurt. Wins is one but as we've seen repeatedly this season, stats don't necessarily translate into team success. -
OK, that's pretty funny. I'm "old" but thought 8 Mile was great.

I haven't found the TEAM stats but for QBs, Allen and the Bills convert 3rd and long passes at a decent clip. In fact, Allen ranked 7th among the QBs here: http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&rank=047&type=Passing&year= As for the raw number of 3rd and Longs, I haven't found the team number but the above link suggests the Bills are about average for the number of attempted passes in third and long. To find the average, I used the QBs that seemed to have played every game (that is, eliminated Mahomes, etc).

I'm curious how many viewers care about historical accuracy in movies/TV. I understand that some things are changed to provide story flow and even the use of material not "disproven" but I have a real problem with blatently "changing history." This was my problem with Inglorious Bastards. It was enjoyable up until they killed Hitler and his key general staff in the theater. That's an extreme case and could be chalked up to creating Hollywood fantasy but it's just not necessary and contributes to historical illiteracy. There are countless story plots without completely changing history. Likewise, it wasn't necessary for Scorsese to use Frank Sheeran's fantastical book when there are so many as-good storylines that are very true. Even in Goodfellas, where they changed the names and never really pretended it was "history," did not take nearly as many liberties with what actually happened. There are so many examples of movies lazily changing verifiable facts, I just don't get it. One last example, and almost no viewer will care, is the "The King" on Netflix. It's the "historical" account of Henry V's rise and defeat of the French at Agincourt. A sort of side-by-side with Shakespeare's "Henry V." Shakespeare didn't have much trouble making historical changes to make a good story but he relied on biased accounts (which, for the most part, were the only ones readily available) and was not shy about promoting Tudor propaganda to entertain the masses. However, in "The King," modern filmmakers made made unnecessary changes to history to drive the story, namely the fate of Henry's brother (who was himself an important figure after Henry's death) and the French Dauphin, neither of which would make any difference but they do it anyway. End of rant.

My Offseason Primer, Position Group: QB
Max Fischer replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personally, I think it would be malpractice For the Bills to expend one more dime or one minute in draft prep on a QB. We are set for next year. -

Well, the room was indeed full of the industry's best actors. -
Ricky Gervais nailed it!! Golden Globe opening

I love Ricky Gervais, he's always good. What's just as funny is all the folks rejoicing that Gervais is putting "Hollywood" in it's place, telling truth to power in some kind of unexpected rant against whatever it is you don't like. However, Ricky's bits are nothing new, he says it EVERY year, at every forum. He goes after everyone, it's what he does best. Now the real ironic part is the people who believe Ricky went rouge. No, he was HIRED to do it, the producers would be disappointed if it didn't go viral. You could feel the rumbling as millions as channels flipped from Fox News to NBC. Mission Accomplished and it wasn't even difficult. -
Okay, which one of you Cassanovas are on Bumble?
Max Fischer replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Ruined Casino? Blasphemy. I thought she was outstanding and tied the movie together. The perfect combination of loving and hating her character. All the self-destructive qualities needed to rise to the top of the social ladder that ultimately led to her doom. IMO, Scorsese's best female character; even edging out the great Lorraine Bracco. -
HBO's Watchmen. Who's watching?
Max Fischer replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can see the similarities, but never would have come up with analogy, especially since I thought GOT's last few episodes seemed awfully rushed for all the plot points to come together. On the other hand, to me, WM was perfectly paced to a very satisfying conclusion. I hope there is a 2nd season but would understand if they decide against. -
HBO's Watchmen. Who's watching?

Wasn't going to watch since I found the graphic novel and movie underwhelming. However, after a few trustworthy recommendations I'm glad I did. It's very well written, complex and thought provoking. I liked everything about it. -
The Mandalorian Season 2 - official trailer [ed title]
Max Fischer replied to Fixxxer's topic in Off the Wall
Reasons I don’t really like The Mandalorian. - Poor “plot.” Baby Yoda is not much more than a McGuffin; a reason to place the Mandalorian in different settings. - Overall the scripts felt like they were made up on the fly by middle school boys. “What next?” “You know what would be cool . . .” - As many have noted, it’s basically a space western. However, it’s like a dull good guys vs bad guys 1950s tv show. Save the village, prison break, etc. - The Mandalorian is a naive idiot. How many times can he be double-crossed? - Each episode is simplistic. Get into situation, blast your way out of it. How did the characters survive so long without getting killed? - It was Disney safe without emotion, 2D characters with zero surprises. The worst Star Trek episodes had more depth - Especially poor when compared Watchman (which blew me away). -

Didn’t know Bumble was a thing. I’m quite married but If I wasn’t, it would be amazing to get matched up within Stone. Some might find her intimidating but bet she’s very interesting. -
Ok, I’ll go,there, if you don’t see a significant improvement in all phases of the offense from 2018 to 2019, and even from the first half to the second half of 2019, then you either are a troll, an irrational crusader against Daboll (and likely McDermott) and/or you really don’t understand the game. NOW it’s not worth engaging you.

Really, 0% chance? Accomplishments: - Helped turn Allen into a competent, improving QB. Allen is an entirely new QB. - Created a new offense out of whole cloth with 9 new starters. Including three rookies. That is not easy. - Daboll has demonstrated he can adapt and improve. - He has created decent game plans that have not been well-excuted. - Daboll continues to add new wrinkles each week. Next season: - Offense should return every starter but Spain with possible improvement at RT (assuming goes to G) - The offense will have entire season and an additional off-season. Chance to massage and add to the playbook. - Still a chance to add weapons at WR and RB as well as develop Knox, Sweeney and Singletary. - Allen has demonstrated he could improve even more and even if 10% better this team could put up a lot more points under Daboll.
