  1. Let me rephrase: If I was called "Man from Planet X" it would still suck, remake or not.
  2. Just trying to save Latin. Why do you ask?
  3. Yes, Lax. For the uninitiated. Turn off the NBA and turn on Lacrosse. I still have 15 year-old bruises . . .
  4. You mean that Tim Burton piece of crap? Ugh. Unwatchable. Somene gave me the dvd and its the only one I've given away. No comparison to the orginal, I'm still wondering how Burton could screw that up so bad. A "remake" should have some resemblance to the orginial, at least follow the plotline a little. "Apes?" "Got it" "Planet?" "Got it." "Ok, let's roll."
  5. VA rallies from a 6-2 4th quarter deficit to go ahead 7-6 with 5:00 or so to go. JHU comes back to tie; Virginia then holds the last 3:00 and score with 12 seconds left. JHU wins the face off and ties it 8-8 with 1.4 seconds left. Furious OT, back and forth, then Virginia gets a great shot but the goalie comes up big, JHU grabs the rebound races down, middie passes to the trailer who scores about 15 yards out. If they can just get the camera angles right (too much of an overhead shot) then TV could really catapult the sport.
  6. Don't you mean Ridley Scott before Gladiator fame? Though he was pretty famous before that film. He directed the first Alien. Cameron directed Aliens and Terminator and T2 and True Lies. Good flicks.
  7. Another great streak -- Hobart won the Div III Championship 12 years in a row. 1980-91 At the time, many Div III schools were as talented as Div I schools. Hobart beat the great Gates brothers era team in 1986.
  8. Hans Gruber - Die Hard Castor Troy - Face Off George Steinbrenner - New York Yankees Richard III

  10. Yuengling. An aside: I cannot believe grown men drink any light beer (except perhaps Amstel) -- Busch Light, Bud Lite, and Bud, Miller or any beer that spills more per day than other brewers make all year . . . I find them undrinkable and not beer at all -- just poorly flavored water.
  11. SPOILER ALERT: - Anakin (sp?) turns to the Dark Side and becomes Darth Vader. - He's Luke and Leah's father. - Jar-Jar Binks is voted into the "Worst Characters on Film Hall of Fame." - No one will win an acting award. - They use laughable special effects. - The third movie is as unwatchable as the first two. - Geeks will quit their jobs to stand in line for two months.
  12. Get a grib, it's called semantics. "Anything" likely means something acceptable. Then again, who cares? I could care less what my team's GM has to do to field a winning team. He can lie, cheat steal or insult my wife and I just won't care, as long as he's doing his job.
  13. I missed the part where you explain how the Bills would so easily trade up.
  14. Wow, I didn't realize the 1st game was next week. Now I understand why so many people are worried about the Bills! The Bills didn't have any time to practice, determine if their players were getting the job done and never had a look at June cuts. Man O' man, what are we going to do now that we are stuck with a former All-Pro at backup RB? I mean, how is Joe Burns ever going to get playing time? EVERYONE knows 3rd rounders Edwards and Anderson can't possibly fill the shoes of a 33 year old UDFA! Boy, I sure wish the Bills were prepared to replace Williams . . . Don't even get me started on LT! Just look at all those great LTs sitting on the board at #55! Trey can't possibly play LT, he only has a few years of NFL experience at that job and we all know Tucker can't play a lick at Center and that Preston kid actually gave a sack in only three years in college. Parrish, what a waste -- Reed was doing just fine, who needs blazing speed in the Red Zone? Everett may start NEXT year -- I'm mean these guys went to Miami of Ohio, not much of a football school. Oh, U of M? They get good players, don't they? But I never want the Bills to be known as the U of M of the NFL their wonderlics are too low! Damn, if the Bills only had four more months to get ready for the season . . .
  15. Looks like he'll be tough to cover in the red zone. Those slot screens are scary when you got a small, quick receiver; makes the linebackers/linemen think twice about being too aggressive.
  16. In-between more mind-numbing discussions about Bledsoe, I say let's agonize about it for another 5,000 posts, right up to the point that JP starts his first game.
  17. You can't be serious. Again, what would it accomplish for TD to slam Lindell who in all liklihood will remain the Bills kicker? How does making you feel better help the Bills win games?
  18. And this will win more games because . . . ? According to this board, the secret to winning the Super Bowl is for GMs and Coaches to publicly question the ability of their players. The lack of confidence and public humiliation will create a poisionous environment that will drive players to perform better and attract the best Free Agents. This practice works well in every work environment. If that doesn't work maybe the Bills can have a fanfest whereby players are pelted with tomatoes and the coaches beat them with sticks. I smell Super Bowl.
  19. What does SHOULD have mean? How much? Up to last summer, what in Griese's career makes you think he would have pressured Drew to take a paycut? Would Drew or any other Bills fan would have thought that it was possible Griese would take over as starter? Yes, in hindsight BG played well but I don't recall any push for him as our possible savior last summer. How was LM forced to take a paycut?
  20. In other words, it's easy to be an armchair-Madden GM then have to deal in the real world. I've still yet to see a list of players over the last few seasons TD/Bills SHOULD have signed and/or kept AND at what price. Again: Name ONE bad signing and who the alternative would have been; AND name one Bill you would have kept and at what price. Like everything in life, it's easy when it's in a fantasy world. I would have LIKED to have had a better kicker: but who did TD miss? I would have LIKED to have had a better LG but I can't think of one TD/Bills could have signed/traded/drafted but failed. I would have LIKED a better QB last year -- but WHO? How would it have happened? What if we DID NOT have Bledsoe? Would we have Law, Spikes, Vincent, Adams, Moulds, Losman or McGahee? Remember: EVERY move has a domino effect. There is a consequence for every action. If you signed one player it doesn't mean someone we LIKE would have been available to sign/trade/draft. Example: we SHOULD have picked so-and-so in the draft and picked the higher draftee in the "next round." Huh? What makes you think they still would have been there; there are 31 other teams with similar draft lists -- it's a totally unpredictable domino effect. Another: if we had made that field goal in the second quarter we would not have lost 17-16. Huh? In fact, the WHOLE game would have changed if you made the FG: time/moments/decisions don't live in a vaccum. May have got blown out if that happened.
  21. 1. What contract do you think these guys will sign? What will it take? Total base salary and bonuses. Bills don't sign players in a vacuum. 2. How does the money work out with your two cuts? 3. Why would all these guys sign with the Bills? 4. What team will take Henry off our hands? What is good trade value? What if no one takes your demands? What then? 5. Do you wait until you trade Henry? If so, who will still be available? What will it cost? 6. So I assume you DON'T know the health status of our TEs (or any player for that matter). 7. Is there really great LB and CB depth in the draft? 8. Sounds like you're rolling the dice on Lindell. Not that I disagree but I'm sure you'll find a reason to second guess TD. 9. Yes, more needs to be done, but you'd think the first regular season game was next week. To sum up: you're plan looks a bit shaky. To many things totally out of the Bills control. Where are your backup plans? Unfortunately your plan has a domino effect, if one piece doesn't work the rest probably can't happen. What if there are 4 other teams that will "overpay" for one or more of the players you site? Fact is, you don't, but I'm certain TD and the Bills management does.
  22. Last year I would have taken the Pats but only if Belichek, Weis and Crennel were part of the deal. Now, I'm not so sure I'd take the current roster -- coaches or not. Pittsburgh - maybe, see if they can keep the team together. Philly - Maybe, now it seems like a two-game losing streak could make them unravel.
  23. I'll just reply by making the same post over and over until someone can provide a well reasoned reply. Besides our "cap hell" year (when Bills had no money), all I know is we haven't signed many terrible FA lately. It's amazing to me how many people freakout but can't name a single player TD/Bills have "missed." How many can name a single player TD/Bills have really scewed up and should have signed? Winfield? Wiley? Peerless Price? Sam Cowart? How about ANY FA on any team? Hard to even make the argument the Bills "overpaid" for Bledsoe -- hell the ticket sales alone (and keeping Bills in Buffalo) were more than worth the investment. You can even say Bledsoe's presence helped make Peerless a 1st Round Pick, Moulds decided to stay, induced Spikes/Adams/Milloy to sign and we indirectly got the "future" in Losman and McGahee. The biggest bunch of wusses. I thought Bills fans were knowledgable about off-season football strategy and won't go bezerk before the first day of FA is over, let alone the first day of camp or the first quarter of the season. -- Last year the Bills had one of the BEST defenses and Special teams. The OL gelled and we were a few boneheaded plays away from the playoffs. I like our chances next year. Holcomb and Grandy are a good start . . . can someone provide a single example of what they would have done differently this offseason and why?
  24. 12 mil? Say no more. Look on the bright side, Jonas -- at least you'll get the 1st pick again next year.
