  1. Two Questions 1) who is the bigger homer.Dunleavy or Murph? 2) Sabres 2nd worst team in the NHL? now 3 3) is there another team that has ever prevented a goal like 29 just did?
  2. I can..maybe even an embarrassing 6-2 loss, with it 6-1 going into the third..and Housley saying he liked the pushback in the third..look we outshot the Oilers 16-3 in third....that's the sign of a resilient team
  3. But you dont need it either..charity maybe?
  4. Bell made a business decision, and every one of his teammates that yapped about him not being there or quitting etc was flat out out of line IMO.
  5. His locker room periscope was bad, I agree. But Ben and the GM dumping on him, and Ben dumping on Bell too started the whole thing. Why no one wants to put ant blame on Ben and Tomlin for this mess is beyond me.
  6. As my coach always said, don't work without tools!
  7. I totally get him popping off on Ben and the GM. They both sent him under not a bus, but a tank. Why is no one saying "Fug Big Ben..there is no place for calling out teammates" That Steeler locker room is a mess. Let's not forget they had OL in the beginning of year talking trash on Bell for what he is making.. and, what is the saying those guys love" you dont talk about other peoples money"..just a mess there by all indications. I would take AB all day and twice on Sunday
  8. Maybe in football...but not in hockey. St Loius was last in the NHL and had players fighting in practice, change the coach and now they hottest team in the NHL. Philly was prolly 16 points back of Sabres when they fired Hackstal, they have now passed the Sabres. Damn, was it Lou who fired a coach 6 games before the playoffs and won a cup? Our own Danny Blysma was brought into a Penquin team that was out of a playoff spot in mid year, and went on to win a Cup that same year. It happens all the time in hockey....continuity means zero..and i do mean zippo..in hockey. Coaches stay cause they win, and they win early. Again, no one can point to even one coach being as bad as Housley( @JohnC will claim they have a winning record, I say 16th and 13th place finishes out of 16 means you stink)and then making the playoffs in some out year..in any of the sports, not just hockey, in the last twenty years( tank teams excluded). There is not one shred, and I do mean not one, of evidence that continuity moves a losing team into a winning one. It's old, stinking thinking...and I am willing to bet Housley gets fired before he ever sees a playoff game as a Sabre head coach...I don't care if they get Breadman Skinner, and Duchene in FA....this guy t flat out can't coach an NHL team
  9. and as awful as this sounds, getting so bad the coach HAS to be switched out
  10. You would have been proud of me as I watched that yesterday and agreed with Jordan..who I despise...mostly from everything you post here!!!! See, you have an impact on at least one mind!
  11. That was in reply to @Augie , but if came on PPP we would be arguing the merits of why he voted for Truman Nah, tons of fun in there. I am hoping most of the folks I argue with there like @Deranged Rhino and @Foxxcome to the opener so I can see if they look as dumb as they sound?
  12. read that this morning in the WAPO..crazy story
  13. you do realize a sizable amount of most of the Fortune 500 strategic plans for the next 5 years involves continued earnings expansion in China correct?
  14. what you cant do is point to a coach who has been successful with the same team after being dreadful for the first two years of his career. I am giving you 20 seasons, 4 major sports. I think you believe the platitude of "continuity of coaching" breeds success.. I think that is akin to "defense wins championships" in the NFL..and " team that hits more wins in the NHL" . It's an antiquated mode of thinking with no evidence to support it..and I do mean no evidence. Show me 3 coaches, in any of the 4 major sports, that have lost as miserably as this coach has..that has gone on to win anything with that team. And by anything i might even give ya a winning season...but should be a playoff series/game win. All I am saying is continuity is a result of a team winning..people love to say they win because they don't turn coacheds over..just show me one who lost early and turned it around with the same team
  15. Nope...was reported a while ago he was just going to take the rest of the season after he was fired to decompress and re-energize. My fervent hope is the JBOTs already has feelers out to him, and Houslety has not been pooped cannned cause he knows Q is coming as soon as the season ends
  16. more Bills stuff in SNL too..wife and I just finished watching so i wont spoilerize it
  17. hey @JohnC , quick question and I am not doing this to be an arse..well not anymore than normal!!! As you know, I am a firm believer winning breeds continuity, continuity does not breed winning. Is there a coach out there in the last twenty years in any of the sports who finished next to last , or generally just awful , the last two seasons and then came back to win a playoff game/series? I just never see that happen...and the teams that stick with coaches for continuity sake always seem to fire before they ever have a winning season anyway, just took longer to get the fresh face in. The one I will give you to start is Brett Brown for the 76's, but that is a unique situation over the last 6 years.
  18. I just saw this on Twitter and was coming to post...too freaking funny!!!!
  19. I don't know about that, but I do know that in Virginia, a student is guaranteed admission into a state university such as UVA and William and Mary if they complete two years of required coursework ar a VA Community College and earn a designated GPA( think it is 3.3). That's a great deal, especially if you could not get into UVA right out of high school, or if you were looking to save about $40K ( in state) . Your 4-year degree still comes from UVA or William and Mary( which is actually harder to get in than UVA)
  20. Mentioned it in the Lasix thread..go look. Not Fergy, but @mead107
  21. not a superstion per de..but hate when both dice dont hit back wall...
  22. Long story, but about 02 we were able to make a lump sum contribution of $25K for each of our kids. Having that money now has made college so much easier for us. I understand we were lucky we could do that, but man those things are gold! Having said that, I read a lot of financial stuff that says one of the major mistakes people make in their financial planning/ retirement planning is they save/spend too much on their kid's college expenses and not enough on their retirement funds.
  23. You make connections for life at Ivys...worth a ton.
