i'd feel more confident with shane matthews at qb. pat pat pat, no field vision, low pass, high pass, sack and it ain't our coaches, folks.

frankly, i see last year's team so far. couldn't be more disappointed.

Funny. I was just gonna post a question to the group. I need help. I'm sick to death of paying Time Warner Cable. THey just sent me a letter informing me that I have been enjoying a 'promotional rate' for the past 12 monts, and that promotion is ending. But wait! I'm lucky, because they're going to extend the promotion for me for another 12 months. And the increase for this promotion is only 14.95 more per month than I've been paying. I called them and said, basically, WTF?! they replied, basically, 'What do you mean, WTF? You should feel lucky.' I want to say FUGGEM. I have two cable boxes, and one is a DVR. I have one sports package, which sucks, and the HBO package. They charge me about 80 bucks a month for that. How much is it to get direct TV with Tivo, with a comparable package? THX in adv -

I finally found the strength to delete the game after watching all the offensive plays over again, many of them in slo-mo. (love watching line play...it's the real fascinating part of the game IMO.) Our OLine was better, and MORE CONSISTENT, than at any time last year. ANd it's game ONE. They really played solidly, in run blocking and particularly pass pro. Mike was injured and played hurt. He played pretty well, despite getting beat twice. The broken play where drew got decked after he tucked it and began to run (one step) was clearly his fault. That Jags DLine made the running game look like a shadow of its real self. If Stroud and Henderson stay healthy, they WILL repeat as the #1 run defense. That's a team that's going to make a serious run within 3 years, if Leftwich has it in him. Drew played smart, conservative football. We look at that one play with shelton wide open, and if he had better feet he might have been able to open a passing lane, but two guys were free and running straight at him from that very passing lane. Maybe last year he makes that pass and it's batted down or worse, picked off. He saw the the breakdown, knew his own limitations, and preserved the FG. Nowthen. Oakland. Here's what I think's gonna happen: Travis and (to a lesser extent) Willis will have a big day. Look for 150+ yards on the ground between them. The runs will be wide - we'll test the middle a few times to keep them honest but the bulk of the runs will be an attempt to take advantage of their young and inexperienced linebackers. We're going to see Lee Evans. He'll have a really nice matchup against Denard Walker, who isn't fast. Evans could embarrass the guy. Call it a gut feeling. The kid is gonna haul in a long bomb for a TD in this game. The bills need to make defenses honor our outside speed. I was disappointed that we didn't see it last week, but hey. It can't stay under wraps forever. Gannon is a good qb and he'll beat us a few times. the raiders have some speed too, but they're not as talented or sure-handed. our corners are going to have some real opportunities, provided we can put some pressure on him. Wheatly will be lucky to get 70 yards on 25 carries. Bills 27-17

Just show up as Darth Somebody and you'll be fine. Wear a mask, regular clothes, and try to contain your enthusiasm when Gannon loses his other shoulder.

Why do most feel that we lose to Oakland?
nodnarb replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
nobody sucks in this league. arizona can beat the pats this week if a few things happen right and the stars are aligned. I'd still bet everything i have that they won't, but they *can*. -

Anyone notice their post counts not moving?
nodnarb replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that's a good thing. I'd like the post count to start moving in reverse, actually. HEY! that's a great idea. We can have a countdown race....! only people at 5K or more can enter. Or something. Eh, nevermind. -

hey jay...maybe this has been addressed...don't feel like searching...but what's with the Rubeo? Character entity support problem? re: cars, i drove my friend Jeff's bmw 328i for a day back in 1996. It was, shall we say, nice. i've never been a big 'spend a lot on a car' guy...but if doing so represented a small % of my income, my car would be a BMW. -

if it turns out that your inability to continue to spend most of your free time bashing a guy who's probably better than you in a multitude of ways leads to idle boredom, you can always start back up at home: http://www.patsfans.com/messageboard/ That being said, I too look forward to the Losman era. He brings a wider variety of options to the table. -
How does Denver keep finding RB'S?
nodnarb replied to buffalo mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
griffin has rare skills. Don't attribute his success solely to the offensive line. They have their share of warts. Don't be fooled. Watching Griffin, there are only two or three other backs in the league that can stop and start with his quickness. He'll juke you out of your jock. He's the closest thing we have to B. Sanders today. I know that feels like hyperbole, but if he stays healthy, watch. He'll be a GREAT BACK with 70% of B. Sanders' ability. -
Here's what I think: I think Mularkey & Co. think we have a very, very good football team that's capable of not only contending for a playoff berth, but going deep into the tournament. As a result of their belief, I think they were as shocked as we were. I like our coaches a lot. I think we're in good hands. We lost a flukey game, and it's always hard for us Bills fans to handle those. It feels like an injustice. If feels like a Cosmic Violation. We shut them down on D. We made Leftwich look like a 1st round bust. For 58 minutes. On offense, we moved the ball against a REALLY good D. It wasn't the greatest show on Earth, but we moved the ball. But you don't win many games when your 3 10-play drives result in 0 points. The two fumbles did us in. THere's NO WAY IN HELL that team was going to drive as far as we drove to score points. The first turnover - not drew's fault, not Moulds' fault (we should be happy he's okay after that hit) - the defender saw Drew's shoulder square to Moulds, and he took off after him. It was a good play. I don't like swing passes unless the defender is playing WAAY off. He wasn't. I thought it was the wrong play call against that defensive alignment. But hey. I was on the couch, not on the payroll. Again, we lost because our errors and the plays made against us came at the absolute worst moments in the game. That happens to us all too often. I'm concerned that a veteran guy like Clements has to be reminded to bat the ball away when you're ahead and you have them in 4th and anything with mere seconds on the clock. You don't go for the pick. I knew that, why didn't he? Why wasn't he prepared for his job on that play before the snap? No, I'm not blaming our coaches. I'm putting this one square on a collection of our best players: Moulds, for putting the ball in the wrong hand and giving up a fumble at their 7 yard line. And Clements, for the aforementioned gaffe. I'm not going to say anything about the CV hold because I didn't see it - maybe MM will comment after reviewing the tape. In conclusion: I think the Bills will come out fighting, and we're going to see them explode in all 3 phases. Expect good ST play, 3 offensive TDs, and continued good D in Oakland next week. Bills, 30, Oakland 19 If they don't win, you absolutely HAVE to temper your enthusiasm. Because the Jags and Raiders are only the middle-of-the road in terms of the difficult games we'll face this season. You can't blame a game like that on the coaching. No, you can't. Two fumbles, an alleged hold, one dumb ass play by our #1 CB, and an unbelievable vertical leap by Earnest Wilford conspired to beat us in a game we controlled all day long. That's not being outcoached. That's being outplayed. Let's hope the guys are pissed and properly motivated.

I just don't get it, with all this talent.
nodnarb replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe Badol is right. Maybe this team lacks heart. If you define heart as being able to get the job done in the clutch. Haven't been able to describe the Bills that way for years, through three different coaches. When it matters most, our "best players", guys like Moulds, Clements, Spikes, Fletcher, Bledsoe, etc., find a way to come up small when it matters most. There's no way around it, folks. A team with heart doesn't lose a game by giving up 3 4th down conversions with a minute left. A team with heart finds a way to finish a game it has dominated. A team with heart doesn't have it's veterans making stupid moves like going for a pick on 4th down. The patriots are a team with heart. They always find a way, no matter what. call me what you will for saying so, but the Bills have a long way to go before they show me heart. There is no way in hell that this team wins the AFC East. They're better at beating themselves than they are at beating their opponent. -
I believe in our new coaches. But today's playcalling wasn't as creative as I had hoped or expected. That swing pass to moulds against that alignment wasn't wise. Where were the tosses and sweeps to get outside? I counted two. Why not at least ONE long pass to try to get them out of their 8 man box? We have the receivers and the speed...USE THEM! Could pull a PI call if nothing else. I'm not making any judgments about MM or TC - I like them, and besides - I'm not qualified. But I am qualified to be disappointed in what I saw. And I saw the Bills beat themselves again. They can't keep disappointing their fans in the close games. When was the last time the Bills won one of those? I can't recall. Somewhere out there I think Gilbride is snickering, and that makes my bile duct erupt. Quick notes: Hey Nate: In that situation, bat the damn thing away. That was the last play of the game if you played it right. Hey Rian: Um...you're being paid. Perform like it. Hey Moorman: You're a great punter. Why is it that whenever you need to punt a high short one the result is always a tiny net gain? Hey Moulds: As a vet, you should know that you're supposed to put the ball in your outside arm when you have two guys coming to kill you. Hey jerry: We were shutting Leftwich down all day with pressure. Why did you go into a prevent zone? Isn't there enough data to support the Prevent jokes? Believe it or not, the OLine was the team's strong suit, next to the DLine. Larry Smith looks like a real find. The left side of the line was better than the right, all day long. DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT Damn. stevestojan

the bills absolutely HAVE to beat the raiders next week. We don't want to be 0-2 going into the Pats game. 0-3 would be really tough for this team to handle. While I was impressed by the D, the Jags O was struggling all preseason, so I"m not going to get ahead of myself. While our offense looked better in some ways, the one thing that has plagued us for years has persisted: we beat ourselves with penalties at the WORST POSSIBLE MOMENTS. We drop balls at the WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT. our WRs fumble at the ETC. Beating Oneself, By the Buffalo Bills

had the game iced with mcgahee's first down...holding. No conversion, bad punt, etc. shut down the jags all game. 4th and 14 conversion on a hail mary? are you kidding? 4th and Win or lose and they toss the exact same play they attempted on 2nd down and they beat us. Are you kidding? Moulds fumbles at their 7 yard line. Had we scored, that's the ballgame. The list goes on and on. It would have been nice to see ONE long ball attempt, considering our OLine was giving Drew pretty good protection. This one was almost as "Are you kidding me" as the HRTB.
